I know this video is older..but the plastic frame caps for the bottom push straight through the frame. Its a lot easier that trying to dig them out

if needed, looks like a machine shop could add the original bottom "bar" back onto it by welding some bars to the top of the motor guard that attach to the mounts up under the fairing to help stabilize the lower end of that fairing assembly...if needed anyways...go visit Blockhead! He mounted an LowRider ST front fairing on a standard LowRider S...

Oh yea Ciro makes hwy pegs that bolt to the frame at the peg mounts. They work perfect.. I have them on my Triglide CVO.

I bought a street glide crash bar. It bolted right on my road glide. Didn't need to remove anything. Sits right bellow the faring bar. No new brakets for the faring.

I just took the bolt out of the fairing support, used a longer bolt with stainless steel bracers and used the same hole with some locktite…. Been 6 months of heavy riding and no issues. A couple dollars for bolt and spacers… saved 60-70 bucks from some bullshit bracket HD sells

So… one bolt and stainless spacer… into the same hole for fairing support… didn’t have to take anything off or apart. So… that bolt supports the fairing and the crash bars

Hey Donnie, I just bought a 24 RG3 three days ago. One of the reasons I went with it vs. a Tri-Glide was because seating was a lot lower. The flip side of that... I'm a long legged 6ft rider and find my knees to be very high so am already in the process of (ordered the parts) this engine guard install for the sole purpose of throwing highway pegs on. I noticed your bike has more of a touring seat on it where mine has a seat that tapers to nothing at the rear (my wife hates). I'm assuming you added yours and was just wondering what seat it is.

Nerve damage issues have me giving up both my '14 Ultra Limited with monster ovals and my '02 Wide Glide with V&H Straightshots, all for 3 wheels. I like some noise/rumble. Will this accept standard touring slip-ons? Recommendations?

@@brianzeilmann900 any touring model muffler will work with the trikes. You just have to make sure it’s a pre-2017 model/trike model. I’m running 4.5” Khrome Werks HP mufflers.

@@donniewieburg On a side note, I installed the Engine/Crash guard from Hogworkz on my RG3 yesterday. My 24 didn't require the Freewheeler steering dampener relocation bracket. I took a couple of measurements with a micrometer and tape and the chrome stock dampener allowed for full installation and fit loosely around the new 1-1/4" engine guard after being tightened down. So something may have changed for the 24 from 23.

the bolt you pointed at and said this is where the guard bolts up to, that bolt threaded into the frame so when you take that out do you still have a threaded hole there so when you put guard up there and place it, it all so has a threaded hole in the tab 2 threaded holes back to back? i hope i am making sense or does that original bolt you pointed at bolt into a nut that comes off. all my stuff will be here in the next couple days including support brackets i bought the chrome and black rg3 so my guard is chrome like to send a pic some day thanks man

There’s actually a hole in the frame and the threaded portion is on the actual engine guard that slides behind the plate on the frame. When your stuff gets there, you’ll see what I’m speaking of.

Looks good…but too much stress on that head bracket….using the RG bracket from the engine guard to the fairing was a good idea but I would’ve drilled or slotted it since the outer fairing hides your mod….ride safe!!

Nope. They moved the fairing forward about 1”.

My guard has a nut welded on the top mount. Is there a nut welded on the top mount of the frame????

No there is not. That nut weld will go inside the plate on the frame for the stabilizer mount to attach it.

I put the engine gaurd on my rg3 before daytona but I took them off. Thought I'd need support brackets for the 7 hr trip. Let me know if you get any flexing after testing it at highway speeds.

I rode around a few hours yesterday at highway speeds on some rough back roads and really watched what the fairing was doing. I didn’t see anymore movement than I did before I installed the engine guard. Time will tell, but I believe it will be all good. Thanks for your comment!

No sir, the 24’s are not different. Some venders still haven’t updated their catalogs. Any touring engine guard will work.

What you need is the Bagger Nation’s ‘STEALTH FAIRING SUPPORT BAR’ (Fits 2015 to Present Road Glide)

@@donniewieburg the Road Glide 3’s fairing is the same the only difference is HD added a 1” spacer to move it forward. I’m pretty sure it was designed that way on purpose hence the big engine guard dilemma (even though the chopped engine guard will fit without and modifications). That 1” spacer also killed the Road Glide Fairing Spoiler fitting on the Road Glide 3.

Bung King, KST Custom and 1 other company make the fairing support brackets needed. They range $65 to $75. The Stealth bracket from Bigger Nation is almost $300. Just so you can't see it. It mounts inside the fairing. Overpriced and unnecessary IMO.

I would say the RG3 is a freewheeler with a RG fairing and a typical RG front the transmission forward. Also from a manufacturing stand point it’s more practical to build these bikes as such.

Couldn’t you have a metal block approximately 1 inch made to put in front of the stock mount then get a longer bolt to screw the engine guard through and onto the stock assembly- yes / no …? Being as the guard is only going to be used for lowers and will not be needed as a crash assist…

@@donniewieburg the metal bracket that wraps over the black bar holding the front faring, the one you replaced with the black bracket - couldn’t a flat about an inch high (to clear the mounting bar) block be made to move the hole ahead of the bar and attach the top mount hole through the block into and securing the crash bar to the Original location ?
