Not familiar with the LFP model y in the USA, but we have the model 3 LFP here and it has some of Teslas best charging curves currently. That thing is road trip moster because it can maintain higher charging speeds deeper in the pack than the other chemistries and its so efficient that you get a lot of miles in a 15-20 minutes to continue your trip. More than what some would think looking at the "specs" only numbers.

Nice test. It’s worth to mention though, the LFP has a 60 kWh battery, the LR has a 82 kWh battery. The difference in charging times is 3 mins or 5% while the difference between the battery capacities is 27%.
@Twin.motors

Correct but the LR uses over 10% more energy at all times so that difference is not as substantial as one would think

@@Twin.motors That's definitely true. At the same time, although it doesn't look like much, 50 km more range (as you shown in 140 km/h test) in cold weather does make a difference in long trip. It can save a stop to charge over a 800 km trip.

You should check whether you have a CATL or BYD blade LFP battery That makes a lot of difference. Check your RWD VIN digit 7 and 8.

Major and major differences. Not really. The BYD blade is definitely faster but it is not night and day faster. Just Google the BYD plade Charge curve vs CATL for Tesla. And you see

The curves tell BYD is faster and holds the high kWh for longer. But that's not all. In the very cold weather where I live shows huge difference. When it was -20 to -25c, the BYD LFP was 80% efficiency whereas CATL (both NMC and LFP) show 50-60% efficiency.

Are you actually sure the LR is from Germany? They both seem to have ambient lighting ?? I thought that is not available in the german MY? Or is that something you installed afterwards yourself?

Nice video. I wanted LFP, but things were against it, because I found LR inventory car with almost same price as LFP was. So it was easy decision. These videos prove, that LFP would not been bad decision.

@@rakeshgopidi4066 for LFP it's recommended you charge to 100%. I've kept mine at 100% since day one, my brother with his dual motor LR does the same. In fact we've been driving EVs for 5 years and we charge them to 100% overnight all the time, I am not a fan of the " charge to 80%" mentality.

Why would you NOT precondition ? Is this based on a worst case scenario ? Even Tesla strongly recommends precondition on route to a super charger. I live in Canada 🇨🇦 we get some pretty good winters and cold temps. I charge my 2022 Model 3 Dual Motor Long Range always by preconditioning - never any issues. Soon taking ownership of a 2023 Model Y - Rear Drive (LFP). Will put some videos up and comparisons when Winter season approaches this year - planning on a weekly Blog - through the year … cheers

m8 u need to tell that LR = like 75 KWH and SR = like 58KWH. the LFP charged way less. (still good though, m3MIC lfp driver here)
@Twin.motors
@Twin.motors 7 ай бұрын
That's correct but the LR uses quite a bit more energy so it's not a direct 20% improvement. Around 10% according to our tests so far. So even if the LR accumulates more energy while supercharging, it doesn't translate to an equivalent range increase.

@@Twin.motors To be clear, all tests are welcome and good to have, just that in most cases when doing trips you can't stop that long and at busy superchargers they don't let you charge over 80%. Adding also degradation on NMC batteries when going over 80%.
