I'm constantly blown away by how much reviewers and influencers talk down new 'affordable' cars. We work hard for our money and have taught our son that if you do the same, one day you too could own your own new car. After all it's such a great feeling picking up your brand new wheels! It's bloody frustrating that after watching these reviews that all he got out of it was it looks like a rental and that we should of atleast bought the next model up :( FYI, I have just ordered a new GX Cross and can't wait until we pick it up! We will love it, because we earnt it.

Fair enough, it does come down to value-for-money and non-negotiables (SUV, check; LED headlights, check; rear air vents; check…etc.) so GX fits the bill, mostly (also available in hybrid) + I only like white cars (or a good bright red). I’d usually add AWD capability as non-negotiable to go up the snow without chains or for peace-of-mind amid dodgy Vic country roads in wet conditions (GXL). Good on you for choosing Toyota as this is not the same story for other brands who really skimp on their base models almost compromising safety features even - for which I’d look into the used / demo car market instead to get better value for my hard-earned coin. And hey, I’ve seen Car Expert’s recent reviews of more expensive cars that fail that third lane! Not your GX Corolla Cross though 😉👍
@karan87432 жыл бұрын
ditto, I usually like his reviews but the tone in which they talk about a lower-model car is just not acceptable. In my opinion, this is what most people should get in hybrid, the difference b/w GX and Atmos is more than 10K, and they both have pretty much all the necessary features and safety features that are used in day-to-day driving. I have a RAV4 GX Hybrid 2022 and planning to buy Corolla Cross GX Hybrid for my wife.

Thank you for reviewing the base model. I think I speak for many people who just want simple, reliable, safe and inexpensive transportation. If an even more basic model were available, I would choose it. We absolutely love our Corolla Cross GX. Absolutely no negatives. It was totally worth waiting for! I think your review was a bit negative comparing the GX to a vehicle that's top of the range and many thousands more. For what we could afford (we drove every car on the market under $45k) this was our choice and it didn't hurt that Toyota service and reliability is second to none. Happy!

For what other car companies are charging for their half-baked, problematic, beta vehicles, this Toyota should be priced way higher for the peace of mind that one gets with a Toyota, and a surprisingly generous specs for a base model! This is the problem with the Corolla: no leg room for the back seat passengers. Australians are some of the tallest people on Earth - we need leg room and head room in the back seat. No one over six foot is going to want to sit in that backseat for long. I feel that some car makers understand the poor quality of Australian roads and engineer them to suit, which is awesome, but they don’t understand how tall we are as a people. I’m looking to buy a car next year and sure, infotainment and torque blah blah blah, but what’s the leg room because that really it is that point that is going to be buy or pass.

The specs say that all models have the same lane steering assistance. Is that wrong? White is good for safety and less cleaning is needed. Another benefit of hybrid is that the brakes last longer, and the engine gets less wear. The tailgate seemed to rise higher in this one - is that correct? Personally, I like the base model hybrid because it gets most of the latest safety features and better fuel economy. The difference in price between GX and GXL is $3.5k, which is quite a bit. The only things that I care about that are missing from the base model are panoramic view, rain sensor wipers, and the rear privacy glass.

The model line configurations are very different in the States, and it priced quite a bit higher than what you showed. The entry level model (actually with less features than yours) starts at US $24,400 including delivery, and with no extras, not even their $420 floor mats. So, before tax, and with a variety of other fees we have, you are up to nearly $26,000! And the hybrid begins at about $30,000.

not sure why all trims have front led headlights but only atmos have fully functional LED tailights while the GX and GXL got like tiny halogen tailights? at night the light up sections are just too tiny ( only the corner bit lights up), while the Atmos have LED from corner bits all the way to the lift /boot gates. Those tailights on middle sections/lift gate of GX and GXL are just fake one as they dont light up when you turn ON the tailights. This has become safety issue, and folks in USA already petitioned for it because some people got rear ended when they drive at night. It's really poor design from Toyota, they could have just made the tailights more visible like the top spec. So yes I agree with the reviewer when he said not much going on with the setup at 02:02
