The fact he wants a turbo suggests he doesn't understand the RAV4 demographic.
@larryschlutt72119 ай бұрын
Turbo is the last thing the rav 4 needs. Turbo shortens the life of any engine because it works the engine harder. A v6 would be a better option.

I had a 2021 Rav4 (XLE gas) from new, did a "more than proper" break-in period. Several oil changes (before the recommended 10k). That engine was smooth, quiet and very quick. I could pass 18 wheelers in just a few seconds, I had to watch my speed because I would be going faster than expected. My point is, do a proper break-in like I did. 1st oil change at 1200mi, 2nd at 4200, 3erd at 8200 and every 4k after that. By 10k miles, it's a different engine and a blast to drive, 38mpg hiwy, I didn't need a turbo.

Old response here - but this kinda scares me if I were to ever buy used. Almost makes me feel like any RAV4 that didn’t have that ^^^ type of maintenance is tainted. Let me know any opinions, because idk if I can afford 2024 prices right now lol

FYI the tailgate arms stop working after about 3000 up downs. Doesn’t seem like a lot but if you’re in and out a lot and use it the way I do you’ll be on the hook for about $1100 to have Toyota replace them. There’s also a well known issue with the hinges on those breaking and causing the door to not close properly so I’d opt for the manual tailgate if possible over the electric. And I own one so I’m not just shooting from the hip.

Cliff I think we including you would honestly rather get a crv or Tuscon or sportage or cx50. Because unlike the rav4, those alternatives are ACTUALLY competitive and worthwhile and they do everything better In the rav4 Fit / finish lags behind all the competition and that engine is awful. Their 3.5L v6 is far superior to this The TNGA k platform is great but let’s be honest. Hondas platform is better in every aspect

Toyota says change the oil every 10,000 miles ( even the first one !) and they claim the Adventure and several other Rav 4's can tow 3500 pounds. I don't trust Toyota when they say that. I look how stout my minivan is compared to the RAV4, the minivan has 276 HP and 250 pounds of torgue and can only tow 3500 pounds like the Rav 4 ? give me a break ! I tow a boat/motor and trailer rig that weighs 2800 pounds and I look at the Rav 4 and say no way it can tow that. Lets put it this way, people can tow 5000 pound campers with minivans, you think the Rav 4 can ? Go on You Tube and see minivans towing big campers with ease.
