When I got my Jetta, the fuel economy was so good, that I thought the gas gauge was broken because it stayed on full for so long before it started moving.

Lots of car for the money with impressive fuel economy. As good as a Civic and much quieter inside the cabin and a real automatic transmission not a CVT.

Last time I bought a car I took a Jetta SEL on two test drives. I really liked it. It had only one deficiency - it only has a six way power adjustment on the driver's seat. The front of the cushion doesn't tilt up for better thigh support and my long legs couldn't get comfortable. The top trim of most cars have an eight way power seat. What's weird is the Taos does eight way power seat in both the SE and SEL.

I'm glad that I purchased my Jetta SE as a 2021 model. Seems that VW began to strip a lot of options from that trim level starting in 2022 and making them extra cost options. For example, my '21 Jetta SE has remote start and a sunroof that came as standard equipment. The heated rear seats and steering wheel were extra cost options, but I have them. Seems that the only real improvement on the 2023 is the 1.5 liter engine as opposed to the old 1.4. No digital dash, but I'm OK with that. The fewer buttons to push and options to scroll through, the better. Also noticed that the cup holder on the 2021 is also improved over the 2023...the spring loaded "finger like" things to secure narrower cups or bottles are gone in this newer model.

Completely agree. I have a 2020 R-line with a whole bunch of extras. Heated steering wheel front & rear seats, sun roof & more. VW should stick to what works. My lease is up on February 2024.

Drove 120 miles at 120km and got 45.4 miles per gallon. Depending on wind conditions this drive got good mileage.

I have been driving Jetta for 6 years and am very happy with mechanics, however I discovered it has problems with rust specially on the lower part of side fenders. It is a known issue. I hope someone from VW management reads this message and do something about. Please address this rust design weakness.

Led reflector are like those old halogen headlights only the bulb it uses led while led projector uses a lens similar to office projectors only it is designed for the road.

For the price difference, idk. I'm looking at about 7 grand extra for a sunroof and beats by Dre and 2 additional colors, red or white and red for some reason is $350 extra. The SE at least offers the black wheels for an optional 300 more. I'm thinking I'm going with the S model and gonna add the drive assists package for a grand and call it good. I can install a sound system later if I like and a sunroof is nice, but I can't justify paying 6 - 8gs to have it

Sunrooof is pretty big compared to other cars in its class. I also like the heated seats all around and the heated steering wheel.

Sounds like VW has made some options formerly available on the SE and discontinued R-Line trims now only available on SEL. And I guess they've completely deleted heated rear seats from all trims?

Yeah the way he said that was odd, what I think he meant is that the traction control was allowing a little bit of tire spin on launch. And for some reason he calls that slipping.

I'm 5ft 11 170 pounds and relatively fit. i fit in comfortably but just barely, you should be fine as long as you aren't 6ft and fat or 6ft and bigger than 210 or bigger.

Massive leg room in the front. I'm 6' 1" 180 and usually have to move the seat all the way back. Not in this car. Although as the person before me mentioned, if you're a wide individual, the seats hug.

None sense!! On my 3rd VW Jetta never had an issue with any of them. My TDI had 133 thousand miles ZERO problems. I traded because of the Diesel issue and now have a 2017 TSI with 105K miles to date zero problems.

Timing belt, no independent rear suspension. Deal breaker! Sub power 1.5L engine. Thats why jetta is loosing it’s popularity! Stay away.

That is very ugly front end. Also the key fob looks so cheap and nasty. My 2019 Forte looks a lot better and the key fob looks so much nicer. It's more reliable and durable than a Jetta as well.

@@nbain66 mine is a Canadian car with an engine immobilizer so I don't have to worry about that. 2021 or 2022 and up models come with an engine immobilizer anyways in the US as well.

I hope that aftermarket companies start making parts for the 2023 jetta. I have seen a lot of them on the road now. I would like to get an upgraded exhaust like ECS tuning offered on the previous versions of the Jetta and maybe a spoiler with a H&R lowering kit and an upgraded metal oil pan
