Just one thing I HATE about my 22 T9gt and that is I paid $16,200 OTD and right now I could easily beat that price by 2 or 3 thousand dollars ? with Yamaha rebating the dealers a couple thousand on 2022a and just generally wanting to unload that old inventory that STILL has not sold ....i dont know HOW they are going to sell more than a tiny number of GTplus models for like 18500 OTD when they are very much mechanically the same motorcycle one could get brand new for thousands of dollars less....I mean HOW much is one really going to us the radar cruise? And I mean a better looking DASH? How much can THAT actually be worth? The only thing that reall attracts me to uprading (which I AINT EVEN about to do lol) is the linked brakes....I love the IDEA at least of applying maximum brake pressure and the ECU maximizing BOTH front and rear to the BEST possible advantage (IF indeed it is capable of such)....and I mean Yamaha even increased rear rotor size to let ya know they are serious? Other than those things and maybe a better color? WHY would someone consider paying soooo much more money?? But hey maybe Yamaha is betting all those unsold 2022s will soon finally be gone? THEN who knows maybe the used market on 21/22 T9GTs will pick up rather than sinking further? But so long as I ignore what I paid? I do still LOVE my T9gt....she is just flipping past 10k miles i think Such an easy motorcycle to live with! SUCH a fun engine too!

Having owned a second generation 2019 model which I paid 8k for new I’m very much on the fence with this due to the price. They are a great all round bike with ok quality, would be good to see a better made exhaust as down pipes seem to corrode in no time at all. The CP3 engine must be legendary by now but I just can’t see the Tracer as a 15k bike. Great review Mark much appreciated.

The 21+ T9gts can be had brand new MUCH MUCH cheaper than the plus! Yamaha is kicking back $2k for each one US dealers sell (NOT a buyer rebate it goes to the dealer ) which is why the price tumbled on unsold inventory...zero reason one cant nail a $14k OTD deal right now on a brand new non plus GT in the US anyway....just show dealer all the bikes advertized reflecting that lower price at other dealers....these bikes did not sell anything as well as Yamaha bet they would....which frankly surprises me since I own one and know what a wonderful bike it is! What other bike at this price has this poer to weight? This awesome handling? This much fun? This RELIABLE!

Thanks Mark. I always love it when you review this model. You are always so enthusiastic about it. And indeed you should be. You sold me with your reviews. I completely agree with you that the new improvements on the plus model are totally worth the extra money. Like you said, they improved the quick shifter, the seat is more comfortable and I believe it is heated as well. The ergonomics of the handlebar controls is set up much better with the new joy stick my menu selector on the left rather than the compression wheel on the right. And then the new TFT screen is better as well. Lastly, the linked brakes and adaptive cruise control with integrated braking, is just over the top. Was there any noticable improvement in the adaptive semi active suspension? Or did it seem the same as before? Fabulous bike for sure... Cheers, Gord

I have started riding the same model in the same color since early Nov (this month). I already have MT10 (2022 MY) and Nmax 155 (2020 MY) and I have been undecided what to add for the 3rd bike in my garage. After GSX-S1000 (2022 MY) and XSR900 (2022 MY), I arrived at Tracer 9 GT+. I was thinking which to get: Tmax560 Techmax, Tenere 700, and etc. I just realized Tracer 9 GT+ could cover most of those bikes can offer on the pavement, as I don't do off roading. My MT10 has the cruise control as well. Now with Tracer 9 GT+, I think I am going to be spoiled for my future taste for motorcycles.

Having had four BMW GS’ I am thinking of getting a different motorcycle. I thought the new Yamaha Tracer 9GT+ might fit the bill despite having a chain rather than a shaft. I arranged a test ride only to be seriously disappointed. Engine felt frantic and busy. Quick but, unsurprisingly, lacking the grunt of the GS. But by far the biggest problem was the noise. A loud constant droning and general loud noise coming from the exhaust. Cruising on a short dual carriageway at 70mph I came to the conclusion that a long journey would be intolerable. Strangely in all the reviews I have read this issue is not mentioned. Surely it can’t be just me to notice this. I assume that because the exhaust exit is pointing downwards the noise is ‘bouncing’ off the road and up to the rider. I got back on GS and after riding a few feet I had a big smile on my face.
@markpulling12 Жыл бұрын
Hi Nicholas.... having ridden the tracer 9 for many miles I know this noise you're talking about ...plus I've ridden GS....it's a busy revvy engine for sure ...I think it's a case of you either like it or you don't ...but it's great to have so many fantastic bikes to choose from Best wishes mark
@AnonTet Жыл бұрын
The noise you hear is actually more intake noise than exhaust. It's designed like that. I love it and I know some who want it even louder. So much so, mt-09 revisions even have open areas like the mt-010 and specially designed intake valves. Yamaha does know a thing or two about music ;) And you surely can't compare a 900cc triple with the massive (and ugly) 2 cylinders nearly 500cc more. Let's compare oranges with oranges, not apples.

Have your tried the triumph Tigers? I imagine they are much the same as your gs. I passed my test on the weekend and am looking at the 2024 tiger 900
@AnonTet Жыл бұрын
@@ChipZilla69 I tested the Tiger 900 Aragon Edition too. If you plan to ride with pillion, go test it with a pillion. The vibrations were not that good in the back seat (feedback promptly given to the dealer at the time). I tested the road version not the off-road biased one. If you plan on riding alone, actually very cool. I liked how the screen allows for air to move along but no buffeting with seat on lowest position and screen on high It's fresh but not windy. Kind of a first to me actually, nice touch. But again, test it. No lack of engine, quite comfy while riding for about 1h straight - 2 up - however, on a sunny day, getting heavy traffic on the way back the heat with the fan working was quite intense as I had to slow ride and stop for a couple of minutes at a time. Was kind of frugal but as always, depends on the right wrist. You can adjust the rear suspension on the fly with a few preset options that were fine to me. It invites for a relaxed journey and it's not the quickest to turn in but it stays planted and holds the line well. Good brakes too, nice dash (loved all the themes). The quickshifter requires a bit of pressure making it a bit harsh. Maybe it required a bit more use. It works perfectly though. I would've like to test with panniers and top case but dealers won't let you have those to test on higher cruising speeds. Can't comment on the lighting, especially while cornering though. It was day time and I had to return it to the dealer. It looks good in red :)

Excellent review Mark. a friend of mine has the previous 2022 Tracer 9GT which I have ridden. Apart from the split dash (which I do not like) the only issue with the bike is the semi active suspension which he and I found is not great. Way too harsh and it is impossible to get a more compliant setting. He took it to the only suspension specialist here that would work on it and he did achieve a slight improvement - but to be honest, my Honda CB300R has far better suspension on rough roads. My friend has grown frustrated with this issue on the Tracer - now for sale and looking at the new BMW GS1300. There is a UTube clip on the Tracer highlighting this problem with the previous model suspension and it describes exactly how bad this is. Do you know whether Yamaha have re-worked the suspension on the 2023 Tracer GT+ and fixed this issue? The new display is a huge improvement over the previous split screen. Look forward to your comments. Cheers, Jon

What a great bike, it really is about time they all got their acts together with screens though - any screen that's remotely vertical needs enough adjustment to be able to set it just below eyeline level of a good range of rider heights. It's that simple. Worst I've had was Triumph Tiger Sport 1050 I had no end of pissing around getting something that worked. Otherwise it was a lovely, relatively analogue bike...

Another quality review Mark. I have a 2022 T9GT. I reckon this is far too expensive and definitely not worth the extra money. The T9 is a good bike, very flexible and a good tourer, but I actually think my Triumph Street Triple had a better engine. The windscreen is awful and is well known problem. Buyers need to be aware there are a fair number of owners who've had problems which almost make the bike unrideable involving remaps, throttle position sensors and throttle bodies. This includes some people who've just bought the GT+ although i haven't experienced any issues. I've done 8k miles, including riding in floods on Dartmoor and the bike hasn't missed a beat. However, the bottom line for me is that the finish is extremely poor after one winter which is why i will not be buying another Yamaha. 😢

3 cylinders is a great engine layout. If Yamaha were to give it a shaft drive, a proper, functional mudguard and a pair of fork legs in a less hideous colour, this could be a great bike. Something to consider, Yamaha.
@jmulroy1 Жыл бұрын
Shaft drive would make this the ultimate Sport Touring bike. Yamaha still sells the Fj-1300, but for me that wasn’t a comfortable setup. Don’t know why manufacturers don’t install proper mudguards front and rear. Form over functions

And how much extra cost is the addition of a shaft drive going to make? Quite a bit I should guess. The gold front forks look awesome. Some people just love to moan. This bike is an excellent all round package.
@olethorhermansen5696 Жыл бұрын
@@alexmorgan3435 How much extra? A few percent I would guess, for a company with the volume of Yamaha, a shaft drive is hardly rocket science. Back in the 1970's, 80's and 90's all the Japanese manufacturers made a variety of shaft drive bikes, and they weren't noticably more expensive than their chain driven ones. Anyway, belt drive would be fine too, but on a touring bike like the Yamaha GT chain drive sucks. I just find it strange to make the fork legs the centre piece of a motorcycle, which is what happens when they have a colour that doesn't match anything else on the bike. I could understand the wish to highlight them, when upside down forks were a novelty, but that's hardly the case anymore. There are definitely worse examples out there than the Yamaha though.

i'm 180cm. The bigger screen does a slightly better job. No noticeable buffeting (seat on lower position mind you) but you do hear the noise. Where the bigger screen does make a difference is with the wind in your arms. After 1300Kms I don't think I'd go 3rd party yet. Unfortunately as everyone else you focus on what everybody knows (engine, QS and chassis, comfort) and forget about all the rest like 2 up, riding with full luggage, night drive (lights and cornering lights), driving in the rain... And you have a couple of inaccuracies there, like the seat. Do try 3h drive not 1h with stops for pictures and whatever vloggers do. BTW, it's really bad with the seat in high position. One of these days I might start moto vlogging myself because I have not seen a really full review on this, or any other bike. Why do everyone thinks motorbikes are only used by one person during day light? That being said, I'd choose to own this bike again even with the news coming for 2024. The reasons? well, just watch the video or any other video about this motorbike as they're all the same (true for any motorbike review).

All of those you mention do a great job (I watch some and and other's you didn't mention) but, again, I'd like to see more. Take as a constructive criticism, opportunity to improve. All the reviews indicate a range of about 200 miles or even less but in reality if you are on the highway not screaming it not bucking headwinds or hauling a pillion and luggage etc it is not unusual at ll to get 50mpg US (US gallons are significantly less than UK gallons just bear that in mind) so with its 5 gallon (again US) fuel tank you actually might squeeze 250mile range out of this bike and I would say IF you had to? And actually made to effort to conserve? As in actually going the speed limit etc on the highway not cracking the throttle every chance etc? Then absolutely you COULD get 250mile out of a full tank....again no headwind no luggage and pillion etc. I dont normally ask it of my Tracer 9gt I just know it CAN because after 200 miles I can only get 4 gallons US into the tank....now the low fuel light and fuel guage will have you believing you are running on fumes early on when it just is not so....I wish I could get anything like my Tracer's range on my MT-10 (Empty Ten) which absolutely SUCKS for fuel range....As always however YMMV lol

Great honest review... the CP3 is without doubt the only star of the show. I’ve got the previous model the 9GT. Screen is horrible, noisy and turbulent. This plus model is no way a £15k bike, add luggage and you’re looking at £16,500, no way!! I paid £13k for the previous model new, 6 months and 5,000 miles later and I’ve had a part exchange valuation of just £7,500... You buy this plus model expect to lose big money at resale!!!

Beautiful bike Mark. I sat on one today, an absolute beauty. The front screen looks a bit basic. So many modern bikes are going the KTM Wildebeest look. The KTM is an unbelievably UGLY thing, Fantastic motorcycle but extremely UGLY, you'd swear you were looking at a Wildebeest and I'm now afraid other bikes are cheaping out with front screens instead of proper top fairings.

Looks like Yamaha missed the boat again. No self canceling turn signals, no smart key. CF Moto is 6k less.
