I was thinking of starting a Maggotkin of Nurgle list but planned on doing a pure Daemon list and skipping the Spearhead. Funny enough the list I had planned paired with this battleforce would be an exact 2,000 point list for Maggotkin. The only Daemons I currently have are some nurglings so this box is a very tempting option to get me started in age of sigmar

The more i hear about this box, the more i think, its not worth it. I guess spearhead is a better entry to build an army... at least you can play spearhead games with it and then buy other models to expand your army but as you said that spearhead+ battleforce dont go together and that you cant do anything with the battleforce alone except playing 1k matches with a suboptimal army... sad part is than you cant even pöay spearhead matches with the battleforce box as the spearhead has a spearhead exclusive model you cant get outside of the spearhead :/

Thats definitely a valid way to look at this box. It is a very specific box for a very specifc type of player. Out of all the AoS battleforces, I think this one is going to be the last to sell out.

I think having the herald is a huge selling point. He is a gw direct model and costs a bomb on his own. The rest are excellent kits to build and paint. Mortals and way more enjoyable then daemons. For the scrivener, you could easily use a counts as lord of blights or even sloppity, wouldn't impact the game at all as its the only foot hero in the spearhead and clear ehat he counts as. I think this box is great, its also einning the poll currently for best aos box. Lotta people love the grandfather 👴 ❤️

The Rotmire Creed don't come with any of their Warcry cards unfortunately.

Box is solid. Yes daemons are bit stronger atm but the mortals are subjectively better models. All the models are great to build and paint and look thematic. Rotmire is fine as a shooter unit for disease which you must spread disease. I think for any nurgle fan this box is solid. Just get plague bearers and slopity or even a lord of plagues (counts as scriv) second hand for cheap and you got your spearhead.

Is there an official gw post that you can use lord of plagues as scriv for spearhead? Or is this a thing you just made up?

Don't view these battleforces as a set point in time. Particularly the Maggotkin set. You're getting all the best Mortal* stuff, asterisks for ignoring the Daemons builds - which is the more competitive builds at this early stage of AoS 4th edition. The regiment of renown is great. It fills in a role for other chaos faction like Skaven lists l.
