Just unfortunate that it doesn't come with a frunk, which is a key feature for EVs nowadays. Is 482km for the SB WLTP range or real world?
@MrChiaSG5 ай бұрын
It's WLTP. We reckon subtract 20% to be conservative, so 390 to 400 km would be realistic. However, the NCM battery shouldn't be charged to 100 percent too often, plus you don't want to run it down to zero, so let's call it 280 km between charges, or roughly once a week for most people in SG

Noticed nobody has taken issue with the use of rear drum brakes in the Q4 E-Tron or its sister cars. Doesn't really seem befitting of a premium make and the price bracket it's in. Most likely another cost saving measure but boy does it look out of place. The only cars I remember being sold today that still come with rear drum brakes are the Nissan Note and Honda City. Those cars are obviously in the entry level segment of the market and can be forgiven for using drum brakes.

There are actually some advantages of using drums that I can think of (aside from cost). They’re very slightly better for rolling resistance, because brake pads tend to drag a bit on disc rotors. They release less brake dust into the atmosphere, which is becoming an issue with the EU looking to reduce material emissions from brakes and tyres. In most cars the rear brakes do very little braking and in an EV, even less so because of regenerative braking. It might well be that this prevents unsightly rear discs coated in rust from lack of use. In any case, it’s probably safe to say that this wasn’t a decision taken lightly by VW-Audi. Hopefully it’s not a deal-braker for most people!

Went to the showroom and took a look. One thing to note that is really great is that Audi has retained the physical climate control buttons. Mercedes and BMW have done away with them and fiddling with them is always distracting and cumbersome. VW too. Quite a big deal

Could not agree more! 👌🏻 Now BMW wants to do away with air con vents 😓

I used to drive the bigger e-tron for my boss and I have to say, I'm very very disappointed with Audi's approach to their EVs. A lot of money for not a lot of EV. A lot of stuff adapted from their petrol range and not designed from the ground up as an EV. And for it's much bigger size than the Q4 e-tron (theoretically can fit a larger battery), its range of only 300km is pathetic. Their competitors offer so much more in their EVs for about the same money, and if one is not fixated on getting a continental EV, you can get all that and more with significant change to spare. I love the Audi petrol cars but their offerings in the EV market is.......less than meh for me.

I think that's fair, and good feedback for Audi. It's looking more and more like the first e-tron was really a stopgap EV for the brand. I have to say, the e-tron GT is pretty dope, and the latest cars are on a bespoke EV platform, so their range and space packaging are way better.

Too little too late
@MrChiaSG5 ай бұрын
Right! With EVs at 3% of the car population here, it's wayyy too late for Audi! 🤣
@manoman05 ай бұрын
NOt sure about that. The EV market is still very young and it takes time to develop. I think EV's have their place in our world just need to figure ou when, what kind and in what function. I could be wrong though.

@@manoman0 I mean Audi is very late to SG market. I was keen years ago but took them years to get it here. By the time they got it here, their technology is way behind. That’s why too little, too late

All fund an giggles with this car but it's an absolute optical mess and looks cheap because so much plastic is visible. I mean it stands out as plasticy stuff. A mess, man, a mess!
@MrChiaSG5 ай бұрын
It's definitely not up there with Audi's best! But some plastics are nice enough, and it does look very Audi inside

@@MrChiaSG I see your point, sir, you're right and with an EV there are trade ins that come with it for the sake of costs. I'm rather pointing out to the looks. So much stuff going on. That front is so nervous, so many colours, lines, shapes. However, great video. Thank you, sir!
