I love the bike, I am about 5’11, 179cm tall. 32 inch inseam. So with that new slim down more compact chassis and adaptive ride height suspension, also lower weight and more power… Finally a perfect GS, it’s now perfected to the point where it was always supposed to be. Now my plan if it all goes as I hope is to buy one this summer. A Trophy edition just like this one but with radar cruise control and adaptive ride height suspension as well as electric tinted wind screen, black spoked wheels semi off road tiers then it’s going to be perfect.

That’s a pretty solid spec to be fair! I love the new engine, and electric suspension is definitely the future!

Hi, great vid, wet but great 😊 Talking about rain, how was the protection of your legs from the elements ? I have a R1250 GSA which is so large and I would like to buy the new R1300 GS but with it I’m a bit worried that the protection of my legs from the rain would become very much null. Tell us what you felt, did you get soaked legs ?

There’s is a big difference between the 1250 GSA and the new 1300 GS in regards to how the bike is built around you, the GSA is much wider flared on the tank which does offer a lot of protection, a lot more than this GS, but I do expect that a GSA will be coming out next year, that being said, i got fairly wet I didn’t get “soaked” but I was wearing the Alpinestars Andes v3 trousers which stave off the elements really well!

Nice review. No bikes in the U.S. yet so I've yet to ride it. Just one correction, the wheelbase isn't shorter, fractionally longer but I'm glad it feels shorter. I see you kept it in Dynamic the whole time. Did you feel the suspension was too firm or harsh at all?

Dynamic the whole time, except for One minute when it switched modes when I tried to turn up the heated grips! The handling felt firm, but not stiff, and definitely not too harsh! On a scale I’d say dynamic hits around 7/10 if harsh was firmest at 10/10. But I appreciated the suspension being quite firm through the tight turns in the wet, made me feel confident that the bike was pushing the tyre into the road to keep hold of that grip! Hope this helps!

Really quick! Not snatchy but the new engine is very quick to respond to throttle input - it was one of my favourite features of this new engine platform

Great ride review- in note on spec the wheelbase is actually a few mm longer? ordered mine but no delivery till march in Oz :-(

I am more than happy to stand corrected on this, but more importantly I’m impressed that the bike feels like it does have a shorter wheelbase! There is definitely some voodoo gone into this bike to make it feel more flickable and have a better turn-in to corners than the previous 1250. Really hope you find it was worth the wait when yours arrives!

Even after all that I still feel like I cannot put into words how this bike just feels so planted - like it was riding on rails! You definitely need to get out and take one for a test ride to see for yourself!

I’ve got the Alpinestars Andes3 trousers and a pair of Sidi Adventure boots But I’m loving my Furygan Ghost leather jacket - I’ve got the matching Alpinestars Andes textile jacket but I like how leather feels like it slides through the air, textiles seem to buffer more. But the Furygan leathers take a long time before any water feels like it has seeped through! Gloves are my Dainese winter gloves, not heated, but just toasty warm!

I should mention that I have no clue when it comes to style… I like the bike adventure boots and trousers but still like a sporty leather jacket and helmet! I really need to start coordinating with the type of bike that I test ride! 🤣👍

No need to apologise for riding it in the rain. Im planning to get this bike for riding throughout the year so its good to hear that it performes very well in wet weather woth the stock tires.

I ride in anything except snow and ice, so most of the year. No one can ride like Rossi in the dry, so we are going to be riding well within the limits of the bike and our own capabilities in the wet, as long as you ride sensibly and understand the contact and friction of the tyres and surfaces that we ride on. Ride safe!

@@rick.cutler Rick, I think you must order the “dynamic“ option pack to get the dynamic mode and dynamic pro mode which includes the quick shifter, break and suspension upgrades. I hope I’m wrong though.

It’s the Icon Airflite, in the “Demo” colour scheme, then I’ve added the gold visor and the matching gold spoiler on the back! Definitely sets it off! The real clever bit is that I’ve 3D printed the GoPro mount and attached it under the chin 😎👍

Why the need for a centre stand on a shaft driven bike? The only benefit I see for a centre stand is to aid chain maintenance.

Interesting thought, personally I like using my centre stand when I park my bike in my garage, I only use the side stand when I stop somewhere while I’m out riding. I get that centre stands are found on adventure bikes and tourers, and the benefits for chain maintenance
