Muzi personally I don't like EV"electric cars" . The KZN snow gave me more reasons because the heater of an EV can not run 24hrs non stop, meaning I'll freeze to death. At this moment GNU is working but the moment it starts to fail going back to load shedding it's extreme spot.
@thobekanikhoza4038Ай бұрын
Norway's EV auto has 91% market share, that is to say, the technology has improved a lot such that your complaint is rendered invalid, a little KZN cold weather is nothing compared to what yoy would find in that part of the world These cars have batteries that perform better that ICE systems in terms of efficiency, even with the loadshedding regime, you can still charge your car at home during hours in which power is available.
@AsandaMbaliАй бұрын
@@thobekanikhoza4038To add to what you’re saying, that KZN incident was an anomaly, so snow should be the last thing on his mind.
@mashudumoropa8335Ай бұрын
@thobekanikhoza4038 without a doubt you are correct, the KZN snow it is something that we might encounter again regardlessof that there are factors affecting the market in our country That's why the electric market is slow due to high taxes, large distance and unreliable power supply. Limited charging infrastructure and long distances between cities and unreliable power supply plays a huge significant

So you don't want an EV because of the odd chance you might have snow as if snow is a thing for KZN 🤣🤣🤣. People with EVs in very cold climates (Russia, Canada, Norway) are doing very well. And they have snow for four to five months.

Personally I love the BYD Seal. Has one of the longest range in the market and is definitely one of the most affordable EVs. The other EVs are just small suvs which are fine but we want something different. The BMW i4 face-lift sedan is launching at R1.3 million so it's another one to consider but the BYD has captured me
@AsandaMbaliАй бұрын
I only realized BYD had a dealership in SA a few months ago and that was by pure accident. BYD or the Chinese electric car market is putting a lot of Western car OEMs under immense pressure and I’m loving it, sadly they are responding by hiking import tariffs instead of becoming competitive. The lack of charging infrastructure would give me major anxiety, worse I don’t live in a standalone house. Car prices vele are too high at the moment, so electric cars are a no for me right now. The only way car OEMs would win people over, would be somehow finding a way to make electric cars cheaper than ICE cars, but it doesn’t look like we are there yet. Right now, electric cars are a rich man’s game.
