My 72 yo dad has this car. The software is glitchy but he loves this car. He wanted the ultimate isolation / relaxation car and this car fits the bill. He’s owned pricier ice vehicles, but they can’t compare to the smoothness of the electric motor. I just hope this car won’t leave him stranded as many other lyriq owners have experienced.

The things about software is, it’s constantly improving. It’s not like Biden an ice vehicle and you get what you get. With Tesla and many of the software driven vehicles they literally get better every week every month.

I bought this car for my family. I have Lyriq 2024 and what I can say is wow. It’s amazing car. Very quiet and comfortable. They had big software update in December and I can’t say anything bad about it. No glitches, no battery issues. Not the fastest dc charge but from my experience from 20-80 % I charge less than 30 minutes. Massage seats are amazing too. My best car I’ve ever had. I was surprised but Lyriq is much better for me that e tron and of course model y. It’s better even than model x and cheaper. I had model x before Overall I love this car as family vehicle. For fast and fun drive I use bmw ix

Why the added complexity, cost, etc of a power operated charging port door? I am sure owners could push on the lid and have it pop open. Just another major point of failure as it is accessed often.

Re the exterior door handles: These flush door handle designs were on late 1950’s Chrysler and 69-70 Grand Prix. The trick is left thumb, left door; right thumb right door. Press the larger part of the handle with the thumb first then use rest of your finger/hand to pull the door open.

I appreciate your report on this. You guys largely do an excellent job. But I think your testers need to be more exposed to EV’s in daily driving. The On/Off button is a negative, not a positive. I have an EV. My car is on as soon as I get in. I don’t need to wonder if it’s on, and I don’t need to push a superfluous button to turn it on. I just press the brake pedal, and shift into “D”. I think once a person lives with this feature, they definitely come to prefer it.

The door that covers the charging port looks very sketchy. I've seen videos of users opening it on the Cadillac as well as the Chev Blazer. In every case the operation of the door is not confidence inspiring. I expect that once the warranty runs out there will be many of these driving around with the door missing. First impressions are important and when something as simple as a fuel flap looks poorly done - and power operated - it's not confidence inspiring.

@danchen6783
@danchen6783 2 ай бұрын
Ultium is a platform. Not a cell design. The platform was designed to take different cell form factors and chemistries: pouch, prismatic and cylindrical. LG JV cells are pouch. I believe the Samsung JV will kick out prismatic. I heard they are doing some cylindrical cells in their China plants and doing prismatic LFP as well.

Flush-mounted, motor-operated doorhandles are simply stupid. The added range from the reduced drag is tiny and it comes at the cost of potentially not being able to get into the car after an ice storm. Just give me regular door handles, please -- they always work, they are cheaper, and they won't break.

Love to know if they fixed the charging curve for 2024 in regards to DCFC. The 2023.From what others have written ramps up to close to or at 190kW then takes a precipitous nose dive ,to as low as 50kW then ramps up slightly to 100kW then nose dives again. Never holding these charge rates for very long and certainly not with any consistency.. And certainly not in the charging league like the Korean E-GMP vehicles.

the "whole light show going on up front" (2:00) -- why, especially in an electric vehicle?! Save that energy for range! Keep the outside as dark as possible except for necessary headlights, turning lights, and brake lights! We don't need any more light coming from the exteriors of cars, seriously!! As an aside, CR gets a really bad rap in almost all the car-owner forums online. This is mostly because CR abbreviates its reports WAY too much. Maybe there's some place online to get in-depth results from all the CR testing on its tracks, but the general public mainly sees what's in the magazine or the annual book, and that's pathetically brief (garnering much more grief than CR deserves in online forums, but not unjustifiably so, given how shallow the reporting is in CR). CR seriously needs to provide much longer reviews on each car, like 1-2 pages in the magazine of deeper material, AND it needs to explain more fully exactly how it arrives at its reliability rankings (it would be helpful to say how many reviews were received by owners for each vehicle and each model year, for example). Context: decades-long CR magazine subscriber here, but I've always balked at paying more for online access, as I feel that (as with newspaper subscriptions) if you pay for paper subscription you should automatically get online access. Perhaps all these things are addressed only at the CR website, which I cannot access despite spending huge amounts of money over decades to subscribe to CR, but I wouldn't be alone in this.

$75k is still expensive, even for a Cadillac. Nice to see GM copied the Tesla Model 3 door handles. That tightly grouped, curving row of buttons is not intuitive, you still need to look down below the screen to see which button you need to push. Load floor is very high in the back, probably due to the battery pack, too bad there is no additional storage under the hood. That's a big battery pack for only getting 300 miles of range. There's no way that charging port door is not going to break.

Just took possession of a Lyriq Sport 3. I also own a Mach E. Despite both being mid sized SUVs they are very different cars. The Cadillac has a much more refined ride and luxurious interior, the Ford is much sportier in it's handling and doesn't feel so heavy. One the whole the Ford has a better UI on the software. The STUPIDEST thing on the Cadillac is the inability to turn off the fake engine noise like you can on the Ford.

It’s a technology nightmare and groans and creaks like a wooden wagon. My door handle has died 6 times and the handle snaps shut like it wants to eat your fingers. It looks freakin great…. Super comfy….i get 4.4 miles per kWh hour average over 20k miles. Reverse safety features have not worked at all. I was one of the first people to get the update. Then when I got the update they took away the excellent KZbin app and replaced it with Alexa, which I would never use. Android auto is so glitchy… sometimes my trunk is inoperable… Push in the front tip of the handle to unlock the car if the handles are flush… but only the front doors feature this. Hold down unlock button on key fob to roll down all windows…tap unlock to stop them at any point in their downward travel… hold down lock to roll the windows up…. Tap to stop at any point otherwise the widows on all four doors will completely close. Clunky drivetrain I have a 600e4. Caddy made a bunch of lemons. GM sucks. In my opinion. Obviously. This car is a visual show stopper and hums the sound of the sun below 27 mph.

I'm OK with the front of it but that weird L shape "thing" on the sides at the rear just doesn't look like it should have been part of the design. I would have preferred the hint of tail fin tail lights they did on their other SUVs. It does look better in real life than in video but still a swing and a miss on the design. I hope this isn't one of those times when Cadillac doubles down on a bad idea hoping buyers will just get used to it.

So intensly futuristic we will have to wait another 20 years for a proper phone holder, because thats apprently way to difficult to design. Instead we pretend we use android auto ....GIVE ME an OEM Phone holder so I can watch KZbin ( I mean a map, definitely a map, yes)

I think most people use AA/CP instead of their phones.
