I only have a Ram 1500 at the moment, but I do like the important gauges all in one place when I'm towing. 87k for a Laramie with the 6.4 is just ridiculous, as well as LED lights being an option on a Laramie. Ram really used to offer bang for your buck, but fog lights on a big horn are not even standard. Ridiculous!

The ram has a lower rear gear but the 10 sp chevy as a better lower gear to make the 3.73 just as good as the 410 gear

​@OldNumber6 get a mega cab, and there is nothing wrong with this transmission. It's better than both Ford and gm 10sp. The 2500 Transmission is fine as well if you don't jack up the power and use the tow haul mode. Gm and Ford have the same Transmission. They went together to develop it, the only difference is software. The gm is not an Alison. They bought the rights to use the name. The brand the same transmission as Ford with an Alison.

@@sonsofliberty3081 I had a 3500 Mega Cab. I spent nearly $8k rebuilding that transmission and the truck was stock. I will not be touching another 68rfe transmission. If Rams short bed can grow to 6ft10 in like Ford and Chevy, I'd consider another Mega Cab.

This video made me realize why Ford is so hard to top in trucks. Most of the complaints JB had about both are addressed in the Ford. Most powerful gas engine and available in all trims. Power tilt/telescopic steering wheel and power adjustable pedals. Selectable 360 lighting not just mirror lights. Flat load floor. Similar camera system as GM. Similar center console as Ram but with a work surface arm rest. There’s more but Ford doesn’t play about their cash cow.

JB I have a homework for you. Go to both of your Chevy and Ram dealers and ask for the sales on the 2500 diesel vs gas. Is there a trend of people walking away from the diesel because of all the emissions restriction. Can you get the numbers on Larry and Jerry dealers. Thanks

Man it is really hard to pick between the two of them side by side. Ram option selection sucks because if you want one option you have to buy something else usually. Ram be like, oh do you want four tires instead of three? Cool that will be only $50 extra but you have to pay 2000 for chrome floor mats also😂 Also for what it’s worth a dealer near me has up to10k off Ram HDs.🇺🇸💪

Not that easy. Ram has to do a entirely new frame to accommodate the 1500 cab. What’s confusing is why are they waiting so long to do it since the 1500 came out in 2019. Ford redid the Super Duties with the newest cab in 2017, 2 years after the F-150 redesign.

@@khakiswag It is given the time frame - it’s been almost 5 years since the 5th-gen cab has been released; the 4th-gen HD’s with the updated Crew and Mega Cab’s only came a year after the 4th-gen half-tons, 2009 - 2010 to be exact, same circumstance with the 3rd gens; the HD’s received the new Crew Cab’s and Mega Cab update in 2002, where as the 3rd-gen 1500 debuted in 2001. At this point the HD’s have been using the 4th gen design for 13 years now and once again the 1500 received a new cab back in 2018, there’s no reason for the HD’s to still be using an inferior cab and bed size in 2023.

If only chevys sticker for tow rating was correct. Tim with pickup talk was told by GM that they are not for that specific vehicle. You still are supposed to look it up in the trailer towing guide.

You wont get worse fuel economy with higher gears. Example. I have 3.92s in a 5.7l. I get 21-22 consistently driving to the smokeys on vacation from western pa down to 81 in Hagerstown and all the way to tn. A ram with 3.21s wont get that because they're downshifting at ever hill. If you live in the mid west, the lower ones are fine. But as soon as you hit wv, pa, western md, etc. The 4.10d are needed

The ram is the best gas towing motor out there. Plus you cant compare a high country to a Laramie. You would need to compare a high country to the longhorn Laramie if you want to be apples to apples

Ram Definitely takes last place for towing especially when you bring the Ford Gas 7.3 into it. In the video he explained that the Laramie was the highest trim you could get with the Gas motor.

To me ram is just charging too much for what you get on the 23s, the regular crew cab is way to small compared to GMs and Fords and hell the 22 Cummins had a lot of engine issues. The 6.4 hemi usually is a very reliable engine though but for that price tag I can’t get down with ram compared to the other two

The ram will out pull the gm. Engines have a bore and a stroke and thats how they get the cubic inches. The gm and even the diesel, have a large bore and a short stroke. This makes power way up high. Ford is similar, but not quite as lopsided. Now were talking from way back through right now, this isn’t a new thing. The truck 392 hemi has a smaller bore than the the car one, but a longer stroke. So the truck has like a 4.75in stroke with a 3.9in bore. This makes a slow rev and tons of power down low. You get the tq all the way through the zone. With the gm, you get almothe exact opposite. It makes the truck a lot faster, but when push comes to shove and youre towing, the ram will keep right on chugging and use less fuel. Its the same with the diesels. This is why ram will always loose a drag race with the 2 V8s. The Cummins is a far superior motor when it comes to actual pulling power and mpg.

100% correct. I can’t for the life of me figure out why people can’t figure this out. Especially Justin. He even tested two Rams one time. One with a 4.10 and one with the 3.73 and the 3.73 truck won every test except rated towing capacity. The 4.10 is not an advantage at normal speeds on typical highways.

So I said it in your last video and I’m going to say it here again, you’re just wasting your time with this 6.6 gas Chevy. I mean no disrespect but you’re a diesel guy. You’re not going to be satisfied with the gas truck. You’re looking for faults with it. Also I just shook my head with the gearing thing lol. I don’t know how else to explain it but the 4.10 is just not an advantage, especially with the 10 speed now. That is the purpose of the 10 speed transmission. You even done a test with two 6.4 Rams awhile back. One with a 3.73 and one with a 4.10 lol. The 3.73 won the 0-60 and the fuel mileage run lol. Aside from tow numbers on paper the 4.10 has no advantage with 8 and 10 speed transmissions at normal speeds on normal roads 🤦‍♂️. Pulling a stump out of the ground or trying to go up a 20% grade, yeah the 4.10 is better. But going 60-70 mph the 10 speed will just downshift one gear and have a shorter final drive than the 4.10 which depending on the speed and rpm won’t be able to downshift. My prediction for the 0-60 and fuel mileage is it’s going to be super close. The Ram might even win. The 10 speed is not going to improve on 0-60 or fuel mileage as compared to the 6 speed trucks. But now passing power 40-70 mph will be a huge difference. And of course towing.

The gas rams aren’t very good in comparison to Chevy and fords. I’m surprised the Ram is supposed to have a better payload they normally struggle more with weight in the bed.

Did like the headlights and brakes in the Ram, ( best I've driven for truck) reclining rear seat is game changer for passengers...... RAM blew it by getting way way to expensive, GM bed is the best, with steps even better, it also feels like a better built truck....independent front suspension steers and handles better Would buy GM hands down though....oh wait I did buy one, lol......also had 21 Ram I do like that blue interior in your HC.... I like old front end on chevy better, Rams front end still looks like a semi.... Chevy is best value for sure....High Country is 72k and comes pretty loaded...LT optioned heavily 63k and base is 55k....you could prolly spec out LTZ pretty close to HC for a lil cheaper

Took years for ram to get tneir mirrors right the old moose antlers were terrible. sadly so many liked them, but they're horrible looking. Nissan did it best wi th the mirrors but no back up side light. Can't win em al..
