This was quite an odd VSC. Hulk was stationary for more than a minute and it was 33 seconds after he left the car that the VSC got sent out. Even F1TV calling it more than bizarre. I felt the Johnny Herbert drama was a bit conspiracy theory like, but this was just blatant.

I'm speculating here, but could it have coincided with a telehandler/crane being deployed? F1 cars and barriers are quite forgiving obstacles compared to industrial machinery, so the increased risk of injury or death in a collision with the equipment would be justification for a VSC in my opinion.

Peter, hulkenberg had stopped on the side of the road and they didnt dispatch the vsc for over two laps, piastri was in front the whole time. They only dispached the vsc once mclaren did the switch.

I always feel like they are slow at deploying a safety car, vsc or red flag 9 out of 10 incidents. They always hold off and hope they don't have to do anything other than yellows despite this increasing risk. And same this time too. It's weird.

What about the VSC delay??? It didn't come out until AFTER the switch, and they took a position away from Max. That penalty only applies to a Real safety car not a VSC. There is definitely a conspiracy to GIVE the championship to Lando.

Max is 0.5 sec behind Oscar when the VSC starts, Max’s front axel is level with Oscar’s rear axel as the race goes green again, if Oscar was driving to his delta (& why wouldn’t he be?) Max has gained 0.6 sec under the VSC. That’s an obvious penalty and so easily avoided just by Max following the numbers on his steering wheel like he does on every single competitive lap he drives. But Max has convinced himself that Oscar is driving slowly, decides to intimidate him into T4, knowing the VSC is counting down to end and completely misjudges the situation. It’s as simple pit-lane speeding, he’s breaking a safety regulation and in a race the outcome is an unavoidable penalty, with two hours of discussion to hear Horner declare black is white & about how many licence points to award Max.

Yeah you should have mentioned more about the weird VSC timings. First the VSC became just after Oscar gave his place to Lando and was ended on a moment Max had no chance to overtake, as they could have released VSC on the start finish line. Johnny Herbert being among the stewards is just very suspicious!

@ potentially. In a non-sprint weekend it would go back to the last practice session. There’s nothing in the rules about sprint result or sprint quali setting the order, but because there’s nothing explicitly in the rules for this scenario they’ll have some discretion in make a decision. I reckon they’ll decide to use sprint quali. But championship would really be on if they decide that the sprint and GP are completely separate isolated events

McLaren got away with it, but this nonsense of allowing Piastri make the point that he gifted the win to Norris by handing the lead at the end. The team needs a proper leader who makes decisions that are then acted on immediately, stop making everything into a debate. In Hungary Norris should have either been given the win, or followed the instruction to give the lead back straight away, had he done so, he had the pace to overtake Piastri on the track.

If Maclaren actually pitted Piastri in Hungary there would be no drama; but they thought LH would attack Lando so they covered it. If they didn't do it , this conversation would never happen, in hindsight it was Piastri's win. But I would love it Maclaren stabbed Piastri and gifted a win to Lando, that would spiced up Piastri , we are all talking about, what if scenario. If Lando did better and race and quali in Hungary he could have win it , but it wasn't what happened.

Jesus. To make it any more blatant theyd have to do a full on press conference and announce that they are actively doing everything they can to hand Lando the WDC. The no penalty penalties, the "odd" (blatant) waiting to launch the VSC until AFTER McLaren had swapped the vehicles. The FIA clearly has demanded that the stewards try to give Lando the most points possible while dropping Max enough so Lando can catch him. Lando will almost certainly bottle it at least once during the following races, but I wouldnt be at all surprised if McLaren themselves were issued a directive by the FIA to swap the cars so they could then launch the VSC. After the last 2 races everyone has been watching like a hawk to see some shifty corruption and instead of attempting to hide it, they just flat out go "this is what we are doing and you idiots have to just watch". They are trying so hard to create another 2021, and its going to ruin the sport. 2021 was such a spell binding year because it featured two of the best to ever do it. Lando, for as good as he is, isnt anywhere close to Lewis and Max. I personally have Lewis behind Fernando as well in terms of skill and talent. But Lando isnt even top 5 of the current grid. So the FIA is forcing this year into becoming a knock off 2021, because they think itll drive rarings super high and that means revenue...but utterly tanking the reputation of the sport in the process. Its pathetic. Some enormously short-sighted decisions coming down the pipeline and has everyone who isnt a childlike Lando fan saying "what the actual fuck are they doing?" Just watch, theyll continue to do their level best to rig it for Lando, but I have a feeling Lando will do what hes always done in response...bottle it.

I think Mclaren know Oscar is the better driver with the highest potential and are doing their best to keep him happy. I would assume Mark Webber is encouraging Oscar to assert himself within the team so Oscar doesn't end up like he did at Red Bull playing second fiddle to Vettel. Mclaren have the blessing and the curse of having two really good drivers.

C'mon Peter, half a second infringement of the regulations for a racing car when so much is at stake is the equivalent of a blink of an eye and where is the advantage? It was not Max, but the FIA that shot him in the foot this time. And the 1 point punishment on his license is proof this is completely over the top! The F1 penalty point system is in place to try and control driver behaviour and minimise racing incidents, not to brake a driver's back and unfortunately, this punishment has just all the hallmarks of the latter. Johnny Herbert is moonlighting between the races by spewing his bile about Max at online casinos and I see that as an infringement; a steward is not supposed to talk to the press, nor to express his dislike for a particular driver.

You can be as much bias as you want. You might bend the facts as you wish; the truth won't change, if you want to win the championship you have to beat your teammate. simple, if you can't beat your teammate fair and square you might not win, simple.
