Different 5.0. Your explorer is running a Windsor 5.0 (also known as the 302 Windsor, yes, that same Windsor from the 60’s mustangs, just updated and changed over the years.) The 5.0 in this particular truck Ben is reviewing is 5.0 Coyote, first produced in 2010 for 2011 model year mustangs and half tons. Your 5.0 is still a wicked motor, but they’re not related in anyway, other than sharing their displacement (5.0/302).

These types of prices is what happens when manufacturers quit building cars and moved to building trucks that customers wanted. It is was an away for rye manufacturers to raise their truck prices and over price a basis work truck. But in my opinion a basis work truck would be minus the V8 engine - auto transmission - 4 wheel drive and rear locking differential. It would be interesting how much less this truck would be without the things I mentioned. Back in the sixties let’s say 1965 even a radio was optional on a basis truck as was the cloth interior even a passenger sun visor was an option along with carpeting wasn’t included. A truck as I mentioned without the list of things would be the basic work truck. Minus those things maybe roughly ten grand could be deleted from its price. BTW In 1965 a pickup similar to this one but a six cylinder engine - stick shift - 2 wheel drive according to Nada was about $2,300 bucks. I am 78 now and can remember tow trucks or a really basic truck didn’t have four wheel drive even an ash tray was an option as was a cig lighter.

I suppose if you do not have dealer provide super charger and install you lose warranty. A while back I was quoted 18000 to turbo a Ram express single cab. It was a well know speed shop. He was sure it would run in 10 second range. I paid 22000 for the truck with a good trade to take off taxes. With wheels and tires then it would have been a 45000 dollar beast. That was a while back. With bolt ons and tune I got it to 500 hp. It was a low 13 second truck. This truck when finished will smoke a Vett. I wonder about transmission and u joints holding along with rear end. Even at 750 hp that's 240 addional hp. Also on Mopar you cannot just super charge a 392 and boost it to over 700 hp. The Hell cat was built to with stand the power and the redeye was built stronger than the hellcat at 800 stock hp. You would have to know if the 5.0 could take that much boost for an extended time. The weight is only 4700 on the Ford you would not need so much to get 600 hp.

Love it but expensive. I laugh everytime people think it's weird being a single cab, if you were born before 2000 single cabs were normal and everywhere

ty for the review ... it's truly fun toy to drive but you're better of borrowing those keys instead of paying for em ;)

Ford should have put turbos on the coyote motor to be in line with the rest of their engines.

That’s one very expensive cheap truck! Ford needs to lower their prices in half for most people to afford these vehicles!

Everything is great. Except the astronomical price.

Still too high for most of us

No way would I spend $43,000. on a stripped truck. Heck I would not spend that much on a loaded one for that matter. This pricing is what keeps us driving older vehicles. Most people I know can afford a new vehicle these days! I won’t be buying one.
