4A is 4WD “Auto”, not “Advanced” It is for increased traction on slippery surfaces (wet tarmac / gravel roads etc) and keeps the centre differential free for normal driving. It’s NOT for heavy off-roading.

The US Ranger Raptor is hands-down the best mid-sized truck on the market. It looks great and performs even better.
@joshuawalls8697
@joshuawalls8697 Ай бұрын
@@chaleowin7732 I’d like your opinion on this. I think the best midsize for pure rock crawling/technical off road trails is the Gladiator Rubicon. I think the best midsize truck for desert/high speed off roading is the Ranger Raptor. I feel the ZR2 bison is the best overall because of its 35’s, front locker like these trucks have, and suspension that can hand both, it can do what the other two trucks do about 95% as well in the areas they excel in. This is based on the reviews. I’d rank the TRD Pro along with the Frontier Pro4x(the TRD is better but in that same category) I’d rank the ZR2 Bison as the best and most capable overall midsize with the Raptor Ranger in 2nd place but just barely. It’s not quite as good on technical low-speed rock crawling as the ZR2 or Rubicon but still leagues more capable than the Toyota and Nissan offerings. The Rubicon can’t hang with the Raptor Ranger on high speed trails/desert runs.

Agreed!! Between my dad & I, had three Rangers (90, 95, 02) and two Taco’s 07, 09)……and both brands have been equally reliable. The Taco’s were better for resale but out of pocket expense and utility the Rangers were great! Today however, I’d buy that Ranger, in any trim over the nonsense going on over at Toyota simply because todays Toyota isn’t what yesterdays Toyota was!

I have HMF rock sliders on my Ranger. They attach to the frame, not the body and don't hang low like factory steps. You will no longer care about breakover. They are so strong you can jack the truck from them. I've lifted mine up from the sliders with a front end loader after getting buried once, they don't bend. Eaton also sells the front e-locker for the regular Ranger now as well.

The TRD Pro is too expensive for what it is, and those QS3 shocks that require you to get out of the truck, get on all fours, and reach into mud-, dirt-, and/or snow-covered shocks to turn some knobs to adjust dampening is just plain stupid.

As a photographer/poet I like to watch creative individuals do their magic. For Ryan, this is his magic; with no frills, no "used car" salesmanship. So, as these videos are cruising along, when I leave the room, I pause the video. I do not want to miss a word or a scrape. I will probably never attempt the "Anaconda." The thing about the price is that is the MSRP. What the Dealers will sell it for is a different story. If it could be found without a dealership mark-up, then definitely do buy it. Alternatively, I have heard that if you place an order for one directly from Ford, it will be sold to you at MSRP. However, in this case, it may take a few months before you get the Raptor. Just my opinion though. Oh, yeah, I would get the Ranger Raptor at MSRP.
@carlosjasonhalili3596
@carlosjasonhalili3596 Ай бұрын
About the ordering, even if you order thru the Ford's website, it will still direct you to a dealer. And, that dealer can still put a markup specially since there's only certain number of allocations per dealer. I confirmed this with a Ford rep when I complained about my dealer still wanting to put a markup on a truck I built thru Ford's website

@@drivingsports Thanks for taking the time to look into it. Goes to show the dedication to this production. I believe 4A was always referred to as “4 auto”with the F150 and Ford may have switched over to “4 automatic” with the Bronco, Maverick, and Ranger. There was some confusion amongst F150 owners initially because 4 auto was the also the name of Fords technology in the early 2000s that would automatically engage the front driveshaft. As you know, the modern system is actually AWD and much better for all intents and purposes, so maybe Ford changed the nomenclature to get away from that connotation.

Really showed your ignorance of driving off-road. For a start, no mention of reducing tyre pressures to suit the terrain. I suspect you left the pressures at a level used for sealed roads and did not lower them to suit dirt, gravel and inclines. Secondly, the 4A is four wheel drive AUTOMATIC, not advanced. Why you decided to call it that, I can only speculate. Automatic mode is designed for running 4x4 on sealed and hard surfaces, ie, bitumen roads where the automatic function can allow slip to counteract driveline wind-up, but still allow drive and traction to front and rear when required ie, wet, icy or muddy conditions, Automatically. It was never intended for serious terrain where front and rear drive should be locked together.

Ford calls that particular transmission the 4 Advanced system... they interchangeably call 4A auto or advanced depending on who wrote the copy. We talk about airing down A LOT on this channel. However, on our own test courses we don't air down for consistant testing. Finally, when I said not to use 4A i was specifically regarding the context of this video which is off-road use. I should have been clearer about that. That was a mistake on my part. Though, it is something I've talked about the value and use of automatic 4WD systems in many other videos.
