Same, got the pacific blue 23 Sorento sx last February. It's been a beauty to drive and I commute an hour each way to work in Vancouver 4 days a week. For its size, keep it in eco mode and gas consumption is pretty decent. It's just really fun to punch it in sport mode though so gas prices can calm down anytime 😂

I suspect you intended to say South Korea where there are 4 manufacturing plants for the domestic market. KIA also has plants in China, India, Mexico, Pakistan, Slovakia, Uzbekistan and Vietnam, plus the KMMG Plant in West Point, Georgia which has built the Sorento for the North American market since 2009. @OhNoMrBill-yg3dy Yes, of course, South Korea. We don't bother to include South. We just say Korea. But you're right. It's a pretty large company with facilities in many places. Interesting fact: due to the powerful labor unions here, we can't import any foreign made Hyundai/ Kia cars for domestic sale. So we miss out on some cool models like the Telluride or i30N.

It looks good (reminds me of a Grand Cherokee from the front) and seems to be well equipped and a good value. However, I have no idea why they put a twin clutch transmission with the turbo trim though. If you get one of these, buy the extra warranty. I paid $2300 for the extra warranty on my previous Kia and got about $7000 in repairs covered with it (although, it was a hassle to deal with the dealer every time for it). I sold it as I was just sick and tired of dealing with it. It was good during the warranty period, but everything started to go after about 7 years. We know 4 people (including ourselves) who had the 2.0L Turbo engine and 3 of them had engine failures (was about $12k). So if you get this, get rid of it within 5 years or buy the extra warranty if you want to keep it long term.

I am hating the car industries, sticking these Turbos in the engine its setting us up for failure, i have a $120,000 2019 Mercedes Benz S Class Turbos failure and engine oil leaks 40,000 miles, purchased it brand new
@jeffer1101
@jeffer1101 11 күн бұрын
@@polofunk The car industry marketing departments are why we have so many small forced induction engines powering our vehicles. We are told about "better fuel economy", but the size of the engine doesn't determine that. Power does. An engine is simply a device that converts fuel into power and in turn, motion. If you are driving in a manner to "request" 200 HP, it doesn't matter if that's a 3.0L V6 or a 1.5T I4, you are going to use as much fuel as necessary to create those 200 HP. You can get a certain amount of power out of a 2.0L turbo I4 engine. If you want to double (roughly) the power, you can simply double the engine size, to a 4.0L V8. Alternatively, you could also just double the amount of fuel and air by using forced induction and achieve the same thing, which is why they do it. However, most people who have more power, will likely use it, which is why you'll struggle to see the supposed gains in fuel economy. When we had the previous gen Sorento with the 2.0T engine, it would typically be around 13L/100kms in the city. Our new Forester (that replaced the Sorento) gets around 10.5L/100 kms in the city, which is about 25% less fuel used, which is great. The engine is larger (2.5L vs 2.0L) but it isn't turbocharged, so it isn't using as much fuel and making more power.

In 2016 we considered a Kia Sorrento but decided to go with Toyota Highlander. Although the Toyota Highlander will cost you more upfront, today we are still driving our 2016 Highlander with zero issues and resale value in the mid to high 20s. I think the Toyota is still the better choice if you plan to keep the vehicle long-term.

Buying a Hyundai/KIA (IMO) is like buying a generic brand electronic device at Wal-Mart that was made in China, & paying as much for it as a good Japanese brand. Sadly, Korean manufacturers seem to prefer to mimic Chinese quality/service standards instead of Japanese ones. But, they sparkle nicely when brand new, so what could go wrong?

To the question of the bench seat. The question was if we can get a loaded Sorento with bench seats. That is honestly a genuine issue for most families I know, because if you have to use the 3rd row or have 3 kids, then you lose the cargo space. Now the solution you mentioned about going to Telluride does not also solve the issue, because even that does not have bench seats on the top trim.

Those assumptions on reliability are not what one may think. For mass market brands Kia is actually #1 via JD. Toyota is 5th as a brand, Honda ranks 18th overall and 15th mass market brand. JD Power - “Kia (152 PP100) ranks *highest* in the mass market segment for a *third consecutive* year, followed by Buick (159 PP100), Chevrolet (162..), Mitsubishi (167..) and Toyota (168 …)”

I find if it's not a lease. Then buying a KIA isn't the best idea.... Kia is good at making a decent vehicle looks good. I'm not buying a decent vehicle. I'm buying a great one.

It’s an easy pass. No physical buttons and that DCT transmission is crap. The guys from Car Confections have a new Santa Fe and it’s on its second transmission in four months? No thanks. Toyota, Mazda and Honda for me.

How about a minivan the size of the Sportage with 6 bucket seats. I am sick of SUV's and beached whales of minivans. I Remember how nice the original magic wagons were.

Y'all do good reviews, pointing out features (and apparent flaws) - I stopped watching this one because for me Kia made another DEAL BREAKER - the touch toggle control area. Bad enough that they've removed all the switches and buttons that you can use without taking your eyes off the road but because you have to touch toggle between the too many controls is just STUPID and unnecessary. VW does something equally stupid - 2 buttons for opening 4 windows, so you have to select front or back windows with another button - Are they really saving any money ? or just doing change/stupid for the sake of making it different ? THANKS also for pointing out also that the piano black stuff HAS to STOP !!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder why car manufacturers are putting black wheels on many of their new autos now and not offering chrome or stainless steel wheels as an option? Is it that they are just getting a lower price from the supplier or are most folks preferring them? At least, offer options. I just think they look drab and detract from the overall looks of the vehicle.

Good question about why a minivan is better. Tesla continues to shake up the entire ICE Platform Industry big time with General Motors going all in on that for the 2025 Model Year which is now imminent. Given the spectacular and in some ways spectacularly uuproven Cybertruck i would be very wary of buying anything but a very modest vehicle until this Fall, 2024. Still the Subaru BRZ is arguably the best sports car ever made. Verdict: not an SUV for the US market unless there is bench seating in the 2nd row.

Its a Toyota………. Japanese transport officials raided a Toyota-affiliated plant Tuesday after the company admitted to cheating on engine testing, as Toyota Motor Corp. reported it sold over 11 million vehicles in 2023 to retain its status as the world’s top car manufacturer. Hours after the probe began at Toyota Industries Corp.’s plant in Hekinan, Aichi Prefecture, central Japan, Toyota Chair Akio Toyoda vowed to steer the company out of scandal and ensure the Japanese automaker’s group companies stick to “making good cars.” “My job is to steer the way for where the overall group should go,” Toyoda said. An investigation including third-party experts found 174 cases of faked tests affecting dozens of models, including cars sold under the Toyota Motor Corp. nameplate. The review found that cheating went back 30 years. The scandal began after a whistleblower came forward in April last year.Jan 22, 2024

Models before 2021, I can agree with about reliability but products / manufacturers can change for the better. My gf has a 2023 Sportage and I have a 2023 Sorento sx, both have been amazing and no issues. People just focus on the past when in reality, kia now has some of the best reliability ratings in the auto game.
