Right away, the painted fender arches and contrasting roof on the N Line give a much more premium look vs Limited

Limited in the dark gray isn't bad, it ends up looking like a match of gloss and matte of the same color, a little more subtle.

Kinda insane that the higher trim doesn't have the solid painted fenders. The plastic fenders look so bad

I have a 2022 KIA Forte GT, with the 7-speed dual clutch. Unless you're driving anywhere in New York City, or one of the boroughs like Brooklyn for example, the 7 speed is absolutely no problem whatsoever. In fact, mine is surprisingly smooth. The 7 speed works so good with the 1.6-liter, 201 horsepower engine.

@MotoManTV, I wish you KZbinrs would address the current car buying environment that we are living in. You mention the Toyota Prius as a competitor to this car as if someone actually has a chance at buying one. I haven't seen the new Prius on the road and I live in a very large city. Toyota dealers don't have them and the ones that do have them on their lots have them marked up so high that they are not affordable. I blame Toyota for this. They are either purposely not making a lot of them to drive up the price or they haven't fully recovered from the chip shortage issue and can't make enough cars to match demand. I watch all of you guys; you, TFL, Alex on Autos, the Canadian couple, Tom Volk, etc. All of you guys are reviewing cars that most people can't get their hands on. It's very frustrating. The one car that I could probably get quite easily (the Tesla Model Y) is the one that I don't want.

@@MotoManTV I watch 99% of your videos (the interviews with the car designers/head honchos don’t interest me) so I know that you’ve talked about it. However, when I’m watching a car review video and you or one of your fellow KZbin buddies talk about these cars like they’re so easy to get, It’s just a bit frustrating. I feel like you should start every review by saying “You probably can’t purchase this car, but if you could, let me tell you what you would experience.” 🫣

Not at all realistic. As you may have seen, we drive most of these cars well before they hit the market and there is no way to predict what the sales environment will be. If we do see unusual trends from the market, we will be more than happy to discuss it when prudent. Yes, there are anomalies like the Huracan Tecnica that was already sold out before it hit dealers. Cases like those, more than happy to share the reality. That said, it greatly helps ALL channels like these (not just car channels) to watch at least part of all of our videos as it supports the channel. Appreciate you joining us on this journey.

I sure am glad I bought my Kona N in 2022, while the gettin' was good. The 2.0 L turbo engine/8 sp wet dual clutch transmission drive train performs like something out of a dream, and is something you would expect to find only in a car costing twice as much. I just dialed down the suspension to its most compliant setting, and otherwise drive the car in normal mode most of the time. My only complaint: The Pirreli P Zero tires might be great for track day but they're inappropriate for everyday driving around town. Plus, they're road hazard magnets. I only got about 5,000 miles out of original set on my car before two were taken out by indeterminate metal objects. I replaced all four with the Pirelli P Zero Elect, which is a far more durable tire. Although ostensibly designed for electric vehicles, the Pirelli P Zero Elect has enhanced the rubber-meets-the-road performance of my Kona N in every way that matters, both on daily drives around town and spirited road trips. And no, I don't bemoan the fact that the car doesn't have a sun roof. 😉

I keep confusing the Kona with the Venue. Was almost shocked at the weight til I thought “no no, Rogue size”. On the premise of fun? I doubt that. On the premise of a dependable transport with some life in it? Yeah certainly. If it was my money, its either the Elantra or the Sonata from the same manufacturer, cause I like sedans and don’t have children to transport

Having seen this car in hybrid version here in the last couple of months i have to say that somehow works. Not for me but it´s way more pleasant and grown up that last Kona was. Not a fan of some quality bits of hyundai interiors but i guess somewhere needs to show the price compare to its competition. To me this car looks a lot like Robocop helmet, i can´t unsee it since the first time i saw it in the streets. Having driven the last model Kona ev i have to say that i´m really not a fan of it. Nothing wrong for basic driving and it´s an efficient vehicle for sure but i can´t drive it and think about buying it, no way in a million years. There are plenty options in the market but i get the price of this car and what it offers being a huge win for it.

All good points, Javi. Hyundai has done a great job with design and other bits but need to laser focus on the bits I mentioned in this episode and others. It's laughable, mainly because the hard cost to fix these issues would be around US$20/unit.

@MotoManTV completely agree MM, one can tell how much care they put in some areas and others are a bit left out. Still a good option in its segment but some bits seem to be so easy and cheap to upgrade for them if they want.

Is it that affordable? My '23 Nissan Rogue FWD I recently picked up for just about $30K flat has a multilink rear, is bigger, higher fuel economy (37mpg highway), quiet, and at 205hp is good enough for 8 seconds to 60 which is fine for running errands and passing on the highway. I couldn't wait for the refreshed Kona to release unfortunately, but now that it has, the cheapest FWD variant on the build tool is $32K and does only 32mpg. Much nicer infotainment and what not, but not REALLY that cheap IMO.

The main reason I didn't buy a Kona a few years ago was the copious amounts of hideous plastic around the wheel wells...untenable in almost all color combos they offered. @@2Bunphettered788 Sadly, it is not an issue of variety or wanting to feature Ford. It is Ford itself. It is great to drive cars for a living, but it is still a business. The lifeblood of that business is timely access to cars. Some OEMs are better than others. Ford has chosen not to give us timely access to their vehicles and as such, we cannot contnue being a going concern if we continually featured vehicles late. Why? The cost to produce these episodes is the same whether we shoot them under an embargo (before the car comes out) or 6 - 12 months later. The ROI is drastically different between the two. Yes, a lot of inside baseball but wanted share the logic of our decision.
