it's really easy, actually - if your current iPad still does everything you need then keep it. Much later, once yours breaks, or you hand it down to your family member you can get yourself the newest one. This is what happened ot me: i gave my Pro to my parent so i'm getting the latest one. The few things to keep in mind is probably the connectivity or pencil support if those features are important enough to you to justify 1000€+ upgrade.

My only struggle is adjusting the muscle memory to typing on a slightly smaller keyboard than I am used but overall using the iPad is so great. Sure it is stupidly expensive and I would say to anyone that already owns an M model iPad Pro don't bother upgrading but if you're coming from something older than that and you use your iPad a lot it is a phenomenal upgrade.

What nobody seems to understand about the new iPad Pro’s thinness, is that is HAD to be thinner and lighter to allow its center of gravity to be lower when docked to the redesigned Magic Keyboard. A lower center of gravity means it can be pushed further back, thereby freeing up space on the keyboard for a function key row and larger trackpad. Basic physicists.

A big advantage of the 13” over previous versions is it is a lot lighter to hold in tablet mode, and for myself as I regularly use outside the brighter display and nano texture will be noticeable benefits. A disadvantage of using over the Mac is often dumbed down apps over their Mac equivalents. It is not as bad as when I started using an iPad Pro with version 1, but still has somewhere to go before I can use my iPad for everything as I would like so I don’t have to carry two devices when travelling.

I bought the 11" M4 replacing the air 4th gen. Beautiful screen. Battery life I'm not sure on yet. Seems to drain more quickly, would make sense. But you can either have thinness or battery. Once you get Final Cut, I think you’re video should be directed squarely at the Pro user, how it performs in that arena and how one might go about using this to get Work/Design/Pro work done. Drawing on a screen is a huge deal especially for previous Wacom users are concerned. We’ve been drawing on a gray slate in our lap while looking forward at a desk monitor which is hard to get use to. Now we can actually look where we’re drawing which is so vastly better. Great video. Subbed a long time ago and I LIKED the video! Thanks, Aaron!

As far as the thickness goes, I was watching another review and I think they hit the nail on the head - this iPad Pro 13” is thinner and lighter than the previous versions, which makes it easier to hold in your hand for longer periods of time. Yes I would have loved more battery but the trade-off as far as weight and thickness would make it harder to hold for longer periods. As far as iPadOS vs. MacOS, people you are just going to have to move past that. I just don’t see them changing it but iPadOS has gotten better over time.

I kinda wish it had improved battery, but I love the minimalist design. Less is more. The lighter the better. It’s one of Apple’s signature features that makes them popular; putting incredible tech in an impossibly small form. It’s a big deal for a device that you handle every day. It makes you feel like you’re holding a piece of tech from the future. I have an M1 iPad Pro 11” and I still trip out on the thinness every day. But since it’s my main device that I’ve replaced my MacBook Pro with, I do wish it had a better battery life. The new iPads are really what should have been released last generation, minus the M4 obviously. That seems to be Apple’s problem currently, they’re behind.

I think the new surface has convinced me to say goodbye to my MacBook Air and iPad Air 2020

I prefer the thinner design and lighter weight. One of the main reasons I upgraded was the awesome OLED display. Agree that iPad OS needs a finder-type files app.

I don't think the thinness is the problem for grip, it's the small bezels. I want to hold it with one hand and draw with the other; even with the 11 inch the bezel doesn't have enough leverage to hold from one side. It would be okay if they added "thumb rejection" so I can grip over the screen and not have the touch interfere with the pencil.

In debt & Informative as always. Thank you. Have my 13’ over 1 week. Still can’t believe how light it is. I upgraded from 12.9" pro and passed that to my wife. Both happy campers 😊 Looking forward to Mondays WWDC24

I have iPad Air 4 and MacBook Pro from 2019 and I'm thinking of buying the new iPad Pro m4 to replace both, just waiting for iPadOS 18 for the final decision. When I am at home, I use an iMac, and while traveling, instead of bringing two devices I would only take the iPad Pro.

I never crank up my M1 iPad more than 50% brightness , it's too bright for me ,maybe because I am an older man 😅

OLED plays well with high refresh rates because of super fast response times.

@Zollotech funny little quirk. When holding the iPad portrait, the upper side volume button turns the volume up and lower turns it down. When holding it landscape, the lower volume button turns the volume up, the upper turns it down!!

I want to buy the 1TB anyway. I am wondering why do you think most people should go for the glossy display besides having to use the special cleaning cloth?
