I am sorry, reasonably priced? 11.5K for 69PS in a 225kg bike is reasonable? I get it. It's a new technology. But what immidiate benefits does it offer to the rider? Where is your investment going? Budget forks, budget brakes in a budget bike but plaster "hybrid" on the side and you can sell it for a premium. I have no idea who is this bike for. Maybe it's a proof of concept.

Interesting review. I have a hybrid car that is the best of both worlds. Very economical but also plenty of power. However, I don't see the point of this bike. On a 125 mile ride I got 76mpg from my KTM 790 Duke the other day and I was still having fun in places. The KTM will handle far better, is considerably lighter and has plenty of power and performance. It also costs considerably less to buy. Fair play to Kawasaki but I can't see this selling.
@hotrob2 ай бұрын
I agree. The whole point of a hybrid is to reduce petrol consumption, but Kawasaki seem to have demonstrated that is doesn't really work well for bikes because of the excess weight. Why buy this bike that gives about 76mpg, when it costs about twice as much as a Honda CB500 which has a similar size petrol engine that gives more mpg? I've recently been on a 96 miles ride on my CB500F (2023) and according to the trip computer it achieved 101mpg.

When you look at that particular car going by at 19:02 lol, that’s basically what this bike is - a two wheeled version of a Toyota CH-R … which incidentally is the car I currently drive! I like this self-charging system on my four wheeled motorcar, however on a motorcycle for me at least it’s just not inspiring me much, I just don’t think this is the way forward for us bikers, unless of course it was used purely for commuting to and from work, and or as a 2nd runaround bike. Think I’ll be sticking to petrol only for as long as I possibly can, preferably with 100+ horsepower..👍🏻

Great review as always Mark. Living in a dense residential area in England and leaving for work at 4am, this makes a lot of sense for me. What worries me is pulling away with in electric and then engaging a cold engine to accelerate away. Thoughts?

@@markpulling12 Thanks for the reply mate. I meant that I always run my bike for a little while to warm the engine before pulling away. If I use the electric from a cold start, the engine hasn't even been turned on yet. So I'll be accelerating on what is essentially a cold unstarted engine.

Well done Mark, for getting to grips with all that tech in such a short time and bringing us a very comprehensive review. And well done Kawasaki for being brave enough to give us this on a production bike, which I'd consider to be emerging technology (for a motorcycle). The implementation may not be perfect, but it's pretty damn good for a first attempt. We now need governments to realise that motorcycles are a big part of the solution for sustainable transport and hybrid versions even more so. I'm perplexed that the ban on new ICE cars even includes hybrids and we're yet to see what their plans are for bikes. For now, I'll continue to enjoy my petrol engined bike, but, honestly if the only choice became either a full EV bike or a hybrid, I'd choose the latter. We'll see how other manufacturers respond in the next few years. Come on Honda, how about a "NC7"? they're halfway there already with their DCT tech. Edit: I hope Kawasaki keep plenty of replacement "e-Boost" buttons in stock 😂

So they decided to pull a Toyota ? Looking forward to this one, just curious how it's like against a full electric bike and a full ICE counterpart. This might be a decent stopgap (environmentally) until we figure out some to solve the carbon emissions problem. I don't believe in full electric as a ICE replacement. I think hydrogen and/or synthetic fuels are the way forward. People talk about how one or the other is going to be the future, why not all of them and let the market choose ?

I think this power train would be perfect for a Maxi Scooter. But not all people like that riding position. We all know that soon some city centers will band all ICE engines and will go EV only. So this bike will be a good option for people who commute from the out of town to city centers. No engine heat just twist and go through traffic. And on the way back you got your sport mode for a bit of fun and your weekend trips. No long waits with charging times because the bike charges itself. All in all a good idea. If they can get the price down to sub 9k pounds it will sell.
