my favorite solution to the oil filter draining is a paper towel roll cut right up the middle - fits just perfect and works everytime :)

I've owned ZX6r for years, that's such a poor design from Kawasaki, the only complaint I have about ZX6r, it's messy, also with these bikes you want to fill that new oil filter up before install, they are known to sometimes start knocking when you don't prime it. Put a rag on the end of the exhaust to muzzle the noise a bit and listen to the engine, make sure you're good. Best of luck with your beautiful machine.

Have you owned any other supersports in the past? How does this compare? Would love a video on comparing the zx6r with other bikes! Great video, like all the other ones

Yeah this is my 63rd bike. Owned pry 15 super sports and then used to work at a dealership so would ride all kinds of super sports through them. Every brand, every model. This is just one of the best middleweights you could possibly buy. So refined and the zx6r has been around for over 20 years. It is perfected in my opinion

For the next oil change, they have moldable funnels at Walmart for super cheap, found that out after my first oil change as well. Saves you alot of time and oil from getting all over the bike

Careful with using the nut on those filters to tighten them. The manufacturer says to hand tighten and only use the nut to loosen as they can be a point of failure. Otherwise, great video!

My mechanic recommends oil change on my ZX6R every 2,200 miles. I have over 3,000 miles now. I feel 2,200 is too early. But I still visit as they also check the bike so if something else is off they can fix it as I only know how to ride and know nothing about maintenance.

Of course the person who makes money when you bring your bike in is going to try to get you in the door as often as they can. 1 years time or 5,000 miles should be just fine 👍

Well Kawasaki recommends the first coolant flush and change at 22,800 miles. It's going to be awhile before I have that many miles on mine. How many miles do you have on yours?

I’ve done 3 oil changes on my bike and I’ve never put the 3.3 Quarts the manual says. I have to put a little under 3 Quarts. The first oil change I did put the 3.3 quarts and the oil covered the whole sight glass even after warming up the bike and going for a ride. I had to get a syringe and extract oil to get it to the right level.
@FrauStormm4 ай бұрын
did you add oil to the filter before putting it on??
@BustahNutt4 ай бұрын
@@FrauStormm no. I never add oil to the filters
@FrauStormm4 ай бұрын
@@BustahNutt well it is recommended. i changed my oil on saturday and put around 3.3 quarts in and my oil is just below the 2nd line after letting her warm up. not sure why your 2024 would be any different unless you’re not completely draining the oil when you change it. i almost forgot to unscrew the oil fill cap when i changed it and that definitely makes a difference.

didn't you have to do this break-in oil change service from the Kawasaki manufacturer ? At least I had to do that here in Quebec to save my warranty !! anyways, great video Thank you for sharing !! I'm looking forward to next spring to do my oil change myself with the help of your video :)

Hi, what style break in did you do, and how did the oil look? I'm doing "as you normally would ride" and I have 400 miles on it. I've read some peeps will do oil change well before the 600mile. Seems you don't think that's necessary, which I'd be happy with cos I'd have to hide doing it at my apartment, lol. But still want to ask if I'd benefit if I did now and do the 600 at the dealer for warranty issues, thanks 😊

You can get an ECU flash, or have it Dyno tuned. You won't do both. A flash is a tune, just more generic. A Dyno tune is to your specific machine. If you want a little more out of it, get a flash/tune, if ur content with it, then don't bother 👍
