From about 111 horsepower to 122 horsepower at peak, that's a lot. I still wouldn't call it "gains" but "restoration" as the factory has EVERY MEANS to make this power but it does not, due to governmental noise and NOx regulations. The government insists on using catalytic converters for some reason, even though I believe mechanical engineers can clean up the exhaust NOx WITHOUT them. Such is the idiocy of government and their non-engineer non-science decisions.

Because government regulations is un-scientific about the way they approach internal combustion, and because only certain wealthy corporations can weasel their way through government regulations (such as the airline industry, dirty JP8 jet fuel, and the weather modification agenda creating high altitude cirrus clouds every day) to pollute as much as they want. Considering how few tiny engine (by comparison) motorcycles roam the USA highways compared to trucks, ships, jets.... they need to leave us alone. In fact, I believe mechanical engineers can reduce NOx output from engines without catalytic converters, but that would reduce our China-dependence for rare-earth metals that go into these stupid cats.
@1.7mviews84 Жыл бұрын
@@exothermal.sprocket thanks a lot , it really does suck to have these restrictions. I’m also interested with what you said abt being able to reduce NOx emissions without cats. Can you tell me more abt that.
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
@@1.7mviews84 There may have been a time where science behind internal combustion was allowed to create, explore, invent and implement without government regulation. Yet, in the early 1970's the government started their huge overreach of the auto industry and mandated emissions standards. Which, due to the technology and design of the engines of that time, wasn't possible to meet unless the automotive industry de-tuned their engines drastically and installed catalysts in the exhaust systems. That's when you had 7-liter V8's putting out low 200's horsepower. That's when you had V8 engines producing HALF the horsepower that the same engines did just one year earlier. That's when the fake manufactured "fuel shortages" happened. Anyway, fast forward to modern times with all the computerized lightning-fast sensors and technology and fuel injection, ultra-high compression ratios, sophisticated means of developing headers and cams, efficient intake and exhausts, efficient temperature control, high tech coolants and cleaner fuels (and a dozen types of racing fuels), and we are STILL STUCK with the catalytic converter that the government MANDATED in the early 1970's as the means that all internal combustion engines would reduce NOx emissions. So what are manufacturers supposed to do? DESIGN AROUND this device. They aren't given an option to reduce emissions another way, they HAVE to use a catalyst in the exhaust because government mandated it. These catalysts are full of expensive metals that are "rare earth" due to not being found in abundant quantities and/or require a lot of processing of soils/rock to extract and remove. China is the largest producer of many of these (as well as wind turbines and solar panels metals) on purpose. It's a financial scam, has nothing at all to do with a system-wide reduction of pollution, it's people-control and manufacturing-control. As a exercise in competition, a friend who was a former Ford-Master-Mechanic who went solo and runs his own repair shop, built an early 2000's engine up to high performance fuel-injected specification, had it in a truck. Took it to an emissions test facility and had it tested. Without any catalyst in the exhaust whatsoever, he registered as LOWER emissions than the equivalent truck and engine in the same test facility which had all the factory emissions equipment.
