Keep this white guy, good honest reviews! On a 1 to 10 scale, average should be a 5. If you compile all your data and your "average" is 9 out of 10 for all vehicles, then you're just a shill and are grading cars the way that girls at the club rate themselves (missing teeth and limbs and still say they are 10s).

@@BoopSnoot While I completely agree, most of the time reviews are for new cars, and the new cars are always trying to one up the older models in their segment. So all refreshed/redesigned cars could be better than most of their competition.

Gave up on Kia because all the issues my 17 kia optima hybrid gave me. Dead AC compressor, Engine cooling system issues that caused engine warping causing coolant leak into piston and the last one was dead hybrid battery just when the warranty was over. Kia refused to fix the the coolant leaking into the engine while it was in warranty and then wanted 10k for the battery replacement... All this on top of all the recalls. Even their new ones, 22-23 models already have the same recalls for the same issues they've always had (car might get on fire)... They don't seem to care about repeat customers...

Sorry to hear about your issues. Disagree with you on Kia though. We've had good experiences with Hyundai and Kia for over 12+ years. Our Lexus with very low miles have had issues including AC servo motors going out that cost $2k to repair.

@@mementomori29231 Disagreeing is fine, just remember you are just one person that hasn't had any issues against the thousands who have. Every car company has issues with their cars, including the most reputable ones like Toyota and Honda, the problem with Kia and Hyundai is they don't seem to care about fixing the issue with their vehicles that they repeatedly have every year. Literally two days ago I saw on the news a new lawsuit with their 23 and 24 year models... Even Car And Driver posted a video wrapping up their 40,000 miles long-term review of their 22 Kia Sorento, which has some serious recalls by the way, and they experienced s bunch of issues, including a transmission replacement, problems with the cooling system and more issues. It's like Kia and Hyundai only care about how their cars look these days.

​@@DeffecX- the majority of consumers haven't had issues with Kias, actually. I bought my first Kia after my 2016 Toyota Corollas transmission died with only 78,000 mi on it. Toyota's customer support was non-existent because I had purchased an extended warranty on the powertrain through Toyota themselves, but they kept telling me that they consider it normal wear and tear. So the warranty would not cover a replacement transmission. I had to sue Toyota for them to at least put a remanufacturer transmission in the car

Kia has gotten just ridiculous with their SUV models stacked far too tightly on the prices. The Seltos is $2k less than a Niro, which is $1k less than a Sportage, which is $3k less than a Sorento, which is $5k less than a Telluride. Meaning a top of the line Seltos is barely $1k cheaper than an entry level Sorento- a large, much better riding vehicle that gets essentially the same MPG.

I like you Nick. Alex rates firm harsh rides as pretty good most of the time. Ride is crucial for many drivers and it's nice to hear an accurate review describing the actual ride quality.

Glad I'm not the only one noticing that. If Alex says something is "slightly firm", when I drive it I notice the blood on my teeth and in my urine from the harsh impacts and kidney damage incurred driving on Houston potholed roads. Give me Subaru style squishy please!

You seem harsher than Alex in your reviews, but that isn't a bad thing at all. Good to get some alternate perspective! I was one of the ones googling KN cars LOL and I don't really know why it caught me so off guard because... all they really did is take the outter circle away. It looks clean and modern tho, a good upgrade!

I tried to get a 2023 Seltos back in May, they are way too proud of them, the best deal I could come up with 500 a month on a 3 year lease, with dealer markup of course and they would not budge. Ended up getting a 23 Nissan Rogue, they were at least willing to deal, 30k after Discount was able to get for 380 (lease) a month. It's roomier has more power and affordable. The only downside is the CVT, they have been refining them for some time now and it seems to work OK.

LOL! Literally me! Except I was shopping for a Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage hybrid, they refused to budge on addendums and markups. Honda and Toyota were just as bad, this was in December of 2022 and I couldn't wait. After shopping around, I was able to find a '23 Rogue rated 37mpg for $500 under MSRP (not much, but better than nothing), and yeah the CVT is a brand new for 22+ models CVT-X that is supposed to have a lot of improvements. I found the shifting at full throttle to be HORRIFIC, especially since its fake shifting, but luckily after a couple thousand miles it seemed to program itself with whatever learning algorithm it has, and now its fake shifting is smooth.

I think it has to do more with manufacturing capacity. Toyota has reduced production, and lithium prices and shortages have made hybrid productions low. As far as I can see all the Rogues they have on the lots aren't sitting for more than a month, and sales figures per month are almost double last year which again I think is just because they are making more thanks to not having any strikes yet like GM and Ford and others are dealing with and its not a hybrid which helps production. Sales figures by month this year are: 25,164 24,158 27,177 24,057 23,132 24,057... last year it was 13-14K per month sales. Rogue is their top seller by far. @@armandourso5602

And BTW, sales figures for the Kona per month are 4,892 4,591 6,053 5,485 5,665 6,101 4,253 3,388 5,252 5,780 5,562 6,972. So there are approximately five Rogues sold for every Kona, so I wouldn't say Rogues aren't selling. Granted, Compact SUVs are much more popular than Subcompacts, which is probably why the Kona grew in size. @@armandourso5602

20:10 Charging way too much for floormats, which EVERY SINGLE VEHICLE they sell comes with and you can't decline it, is a way to lie about MSRP pricing in advertisements. If a vehicle can't even be special ordered without floormats, it needs to be included in the price!

I’m on record as liking Nick more than Brian but I have to say that this review was a bit subpar. Holding your phone while you were driving didn’t seem very safe. Also, when you were talking about the shifter, the camera was pointing to you, not on the shifter so we couldn’t see what you were talking about. My biggest issue is that your review didn’t seem very objective. You came across talking about things that you didn’t like, not about what the car has to offer. Hopefully your next review will be better.

No, recalibrate all the other vehicle's scores. The average vehicle should score a C across the board. Below average D, above average B. F and A grades should be very rare, as the absolute best and absolute worst in class.

The noise rating needs db meter which you can do from phone app. If you are JUST hearing tire noise then the car IS quiet. Yes, tires can howl, but that can be improved with better tires. No engine, drone wind sounds rattles should receive a higher score. So I agree with others that this reviewer is too subjective. And grade scores are a disconnected from inputs.

Although I like the 2024 Seltos, I feel like it just stepped sideways from the 2023 version. The facelift doesn't look more modern. It just looks like a variation of last year's face. The rear looks nice, but not necessarily more modern. I'm probably alone on this, but I don't like digital instrument clusters. I really couldn't care less about having a configurable cluster. Large, clearly labeled instrumentation is all I care about in that regard. I prefer last year's analog cluster. I LOVE the new Pluton Blue paint. I'm disappointed it can only be had with the all-black interior. Meh. A shame it's not offered with the light brown Syntex upholstery. That would have looked classy. My biggest gripe is that the S trim that I had my heart set on jumped up a whopping $2,000 from last year. Considering this is just a light refresh, not even a complete redesign, that seems outrageous to me. I'm holding out for the 2024 Hyundai Kona. The redesign looks a lot more interesting outside and in, and the starting MSRP is less at $24,100 (before destination).
