Excellent video comparison, I have this 2022 Kindle Basic in the Denim Blue color. It's like BRAND NEW and functions perfectly. I almost purchased the 2024 Kindle Basic because I love color but I couldn't justify it.

Could you do a comparison between the new Kindle Basic and PW versus the Kobo Clara BW? I am interested in how the improved contrast for the new Kindle Basic compares against the Kobo with the 1300 Carta screen.

My own preference is that I like the Oasis SW much better than the Paper White. The sync across device with Oasis is instantaneous upon weaking up whereas the Paper White take at least a minute or two to sync up.

I have the Libra Colour, if that helps. :) From the comparisons I've seen, the Colorsoft's colors are a bit more saturated, but you lose some detail because the colors are so dark in the shadows, say. The big thing that I think turns me off to the new Kindles is the inability to download your content to your computer. I'm bummed that they took that away in the latest models. That means you can't back up your files, and it means you're more locked into the DRM.

@@WinstoneSmith I'm not sure. They apparently added an extra display technology, but I don't know how it works. I'm happy with my Libra Colour, though. I think the fact that it's pen-enabled and handles more file formats, plus has integration with Google Drive, makes up for the color being a bit paler.

The screen on the newer version seems a bit darker to me overall. The older version has a whiter screen, while th newer one has a more grayish screen. I can't really tell the difference in the blacks from the video. And for me, the big thing is not being able to download from the Kindle store to your computer. That's really ... unfortunate. I was thinking of upgrading to the Colorsoft, but I went with the Kobo Libra Colour, just because there's more bang for your buck with it being pen-enabled. I think Amazon erred in releasing the Scribe and the Colorsoft separately. I would've liked something the size of the Colorsoft with the pen ability of the Scribe, if the price were right.
