I've done more than 200hrs on the new chassis across 5 bikes (EXC's here in Europe). I went to Romania in July, jumped on a box fresh 2024 KTM 300EXC TBI and finished Silver class Romaniacs. They make incredible traction. People complaining about traction on need training both on rider technique and bike setup/tyre selection front. :)

Greg, I missed a few videos from this season, but awesome to see you on the new 250 thumper. These little bikes are so much more capable as woods weapons than people realize. I thoroughly enjoyed several seasons on my YZ250FX that was set up for Oregon/Washington mountain single track and woods. I moved on to a KTM 350 this season and have enjoyed it immediately. I think the traction comments from other KZbinrs is more of a correlation of the age of some of these guys, not necessarily the bike's capabilities. Realize many of these reviews are coming from senior citizen riders who are not riding the same type of difficult terrain we have in the PNW. Thanks for another great video and one side note. I've found that bumping up the idle ever so slightly will make a big impact on the stalls when attacking the tougher steep technical climbs. Looking forward to some great PNW Fall videos. Keep them coming!

I've only seen that comment on the PDS bikes. Like i commented on your first 250XCF vid, these 250Fs are highly underrated. Very capable in the technical terrain and so fun to scream up top in the open stuff.

On my ‘24 250 xcw I had to add 2 more millimeters of sag than I would normally run and voila! Swimming in traction! I’m also running a tusk talon with tubliss at 5ish psi.
@PNWEnduro3 ай бұрын
Setup is important, not enough sag can really affect the amount of traction you get.
@enforcer-enduro3 ай бұрын
Have several local hard enduro riders that have done the same thing, also had to play with wheel base to find traction on the same level as previous bikes. Unfortunately this comes with some drawbacks as well since you start to play with the bikes geometry and how you as a rider have to weight the bike while riding. I think that it won't be an issue for most of the trail riders, but for those who ride harder terrain.
@gpaull23 ай бұрын
PDS is more critical about having the correct spring for your weight and sag than a linkage setup. Every rider that complains about PDS performance has a blank stare when I ask them about spring rate and sag.

There's two riders in our crew with 2025 300's, a TE and an XCw. Initially when running the stock Dunlop Geomax tires both bikes had HORRIBLE traction, especially with the rear. In fact the TE's rear slipped sideways on a low log into branch and ripped out 3 spokes 😶. Both riders showed up next ride with IRC VE33s rear tires(our go-to choice for New England terrain), one had an M59 up front and the other a VX40. The bikes were transformed, both riders could finally feel how good the chassis, suspension and power is on their new bikes....

@@PNWEnduro The Dunlop Geomax is a good tire. Works well enough most places even if it doesn't last long. It's a decent all-around tire. To your point; something specific and suited to riding the PNWet is key... and there are much better tires than the Geomax for such riding. Incidentally, I really like the MX33F front. A lot.

@@painsrides If you like the Dunlop AT 81, try the AT 81 EX. Same tread pattern but much stickier rubber. It’s for those hard enduro wet conditions where you need maximum traction. Softer than a VE 33s. Just don’t expect it to last very long, especially in race conditions. Expensive, but worth it in extreme gnar.

Noticeable difference between my 2017 XC and my 2024 XCW. I get a lot of chatter out of the rear wheel that I never struggled with on the linkage XC. Softening the high and low speed rebound and then adjusting the rebound helped but it’s still notably worse.

I think KTM stiffened the frame too much without adjusting the suspension on the MX bikes and they ended up being super stiff, idk if that effects the XCF models
