Nice to see someone doing the comparison on these 2 vehicles because it can be confusing AND to do it using the base models is much appreciated. This is how you bring real value to customers. Thanks.

Mine is a 50 and love it . Ha e had both Toyota and Honda and neither as good or drive as nice as the Mazda .

I like the CX50 better, love the fender flares. Longer wheelbase and more rear leg room.

Test drive both and liked them both. We (wife and I) ended up going with the CX-5 Carbon Edition for its upscale interior and seats (red leather) for just a little more money than the Select CX-50. Just more value to me in the CX-5 price-wise. We did like the CX-50’s little bit extra backseat space and extra cargo space… but for us in our 50s now (w/ grown kids and no grandkids yet) we didn’t specifically need that little bit of extra space in either place and we just preferred the CX-5’s feel. And the fact that the CX-50 has cylinder deactivation and I-Stop technology was a big turn off to me. I just hate that stuff. CX-5 (at least in 2024) is blissfully devoid of that garbage.

Curious mind here - why do you hate the cylinder deactivation?
@maxxbenzz7842Ай бұрын
Google it. Shutting down cylinders regardless of light load, causes more wear and heat on the active cylinders. More wear, less life. I could care less about the minimal fuel savings. @curtis4982

Might want to check that. Pretty sure CX 5 has cylinder deactivation but not start stop
@1allspubАй бұрын
@@maxxbenzz7842 Nope… they had supply chain issues in 2024 and as a result built the CX-5 w/o the cylinder deactivation and i-stop. From Mazda’s 2024 CX-5 Specification Deck (ie, spec sheet): “Due to supply shortage, cylinder deactivation (CD A) and i-stop will be dropped from the Skyactiv-G 2.5 DOHC Engines beginning with October Production for 2.5 S Select and 2.5 S Preferred and from November Production for 2.5 S Carbon Edition, Premium and Premium Plus. Cylinder deactivation and i-stop will be reinstated once the supply recovers.” The references to “October” and “November” would have been October/November of 2023, (ie, when the 2024 model production year started). My 2024 Carbon Edition CX-5 is one of those (thankfully) built without cylinder deactivation and I-stop.

@@maxxbenzz7842 Certain 2024 year model cx-5 did not have either. (only those actually built in 2024) The 2025 model cx-5 do have both.

I bought the CX-50 for the extra room and am impressed with it. Love your videos 😊

I can tell you cx50 feels less premium in the interior compared to cx5. too many parts squeaking and feeling cheaply made. I did purchase 2024 cx50 premium and do feel difference in quality compared to cx5. the Japanese touch is much superior to the Alabama manufacturing. I feel like guys are coming back to the assembly line and high and on cloud 9 for things to be this cheap and clunky.

I have the select its supposed to have 8 speakers. I only count 6, 4 door and two tweeters where are the other two speakers? or was that changed but on MAZDAS website it still says the 2024 select has 8 speakers, nevermind I think they are hidden in the dashboard

Depends on trim level. Do you have the Bose radio system?

@@t.k.morris nope the select trim is the lowest trim so dont have the bose think thats on the premium level which was like 8000 more than what I paid , wasnt going to spend 8000 more just to get a better stereo system and some extra gadgets

It’s got a more muscular body shape whereas the CX-5 has a more rounded, elegant look. I’m 6’4” and find the headroom a bit tight in the CX-50:even with the seat fully down, but it’s workable.

Buy Honda CRV or Toyota Rav4 better then this vehicle
@TroyPaul166 ай бұрын
While everyone is entitled to their own opinion, what makes you feel the Honda or Toyota are better vehicles? Tons of third party companies have rated the Mazda’s better than Toyota and Honda. Plus Mazda’s, like Honda and Toyota, are rated highly in reliability. I personally feel Mazda is a better overall brand based on style, comfort, and attention to details.

@@TroyPaul16Mazda will last just as long as those brands and they cannot compete with the fit/finish, comfort, and handling. Not even close. And the CX5 is still made in Japan.
