I worked in Auto Parts for 5 years during my college years (2014-2019) and Mazda is brand that we hardly ever saw people buying parts for. It was always the usual, Gm, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, vw…

90% of parts in all mazda’s are stamped “FoMoCo” including all the engines, they are Fords… with plenty of their own issues. Mazda Premacy / nissan lafesta / suzuki Landi - all the same car & all a ford.

@@shaun54In 2016- right now mazda make their own engines now. They completely gone away from Ford because of those reasons you just said. Mazda makes their own transmissions, engines, and differentials for their all wheel drive vehicles.

There could be a whole generation of these straight six machines and a huge aftermarket modders with a straight six turbo'd Rx 7s and 8s just like Nissan and Toyota did in the 90s but all new . Imagine how it could breathe new life into Mazda and Zoom Zoom! That was my first thought when you were talking about how tough they seemed to describe this engine. There could be a whole straight six subculture and the best company to do it in my mind is Mazda. They've always had that ZoomZoom mentality and that sort of rebel attitude of all the Japanese makers .

I’m just anxiously waiting for the CX70. I love the size of the 90 but dont need the third row. Maybe it will have more leg room in the 2nd row which will be ideal for my needs.

The transmission is not only built in house but also different from other automatics. It's not a torque converted automatic, it's not a dual clutch. It has a singular clutch and uses the 48V mild hybrid to make it smooth and power it when crawling at very low speeds.
@aew1513
@aew1513 9 ай бұрын
Basically it is a manual with a computer doing the clutch. As a manual driver, it seems to be doing a great job shifting. And it will provide that direct throttle response that a dual clutch or this single clutch provides.

Beautiful! Now if only they didnt put the timing chains on the back of the engine... making it an engine out job to replace the timing chains. Replace the turbo? The engine needs to come out. Need a new high pressure fuel pump? Simple enough, right? Nope, engine out as well. The design is extremely over complicated like the Germans, in the long run these are going to cost a fortune to keep on the road imo

Definitely isnt, I promise u. Maybe without turbos and higher redline yes. The ND2 and NC3 engine is way better, its a dry sump, high revving, lightweight, quick revving, sporty, good sounding, characterful, race ready engine.

@Weather_Nerd
@Weather_Nerd 10 ай бұрын
No way. The ND is very close to the original MX-5 in weight and wheelbase, smaller than the NC before it and the lightest Miata since the NA generation. I’ve owned both a 2000 S2K and a 1991 Miata and while they did remind me of one another a LOT, they are totally different as well. S2K was 2770lbs or so vs 2180lbs. Longer wheelbase, longer hood with engine further back (fully behind front axles vs 50% behind in the Miata). To me, the Miata feels like a smaller/lighter, mushier, slower and more forgiving S2K. I have driven an ND RF but it was automatic so I won’t comment lol it was an amazing car though, I’m a huge fan 😅

I was very interested in this new 2024 Mazda CX-90 SUV when I learned about the new 6 cyl. inline engine. The I-4 engines in most SUVs tend to be rough and noisy (buzzy). My enthusiasm has been greatly diminished since I learned of the engine design details that will make any long-term maintenance very expensive since engine access in many cases will require engine removal. The transmission design is also very strange, The overall design inside and out is very appealing. The vehicle is pricy in the upper trim levels but the drivetrain reliability is a big question mark. An extended warranty for any long-term owner would be advisable.
