You can do this without taking the wheel off buy using a trim removal tool, it won't damage the wheels. Its a bit tough at the start but when you figure out the trick, by squeezing the tool down the small opening at the top edges of the plastic.

I am definitely going to take mine off too. I just wish the smaller covers would come off with clips too. I plan to leave mine on like you did so those two holes aren't visible. And since they have summer tires on them I might just go with some aftermarket wheels like 18 or 19 inch martians if they will fit over the brakes. Thanks again for posting it was helpful.

@@Intervention302 They are just tension clips, you will not break them.
@philparker12787 ай бұрын
@@Intervention302you absolutely CAN scratch the face of the wheel… Which is unfortunately exactly what I did. I made the mistake of using a flat blade screwdriver to push in to the gap and then leverage out the cover. This resulted in some surface scratching on the face of the wheel. It wasn’t horrendous so most people probably wouldn’t notice it… but of course now I know it’s there :( I did then adapt my approach for the rest of the covers - instead of just pushing the flat blade screwdriver directly into the gap, I covered the screwdriver with a thin towel to prevent it being metal on metal contact, and THEN used it to leverage out the plastic covers. This seemed to prevent any real scratching on the face of the wheel. There was still some slight surface scratches from the contact point between the clips and the wheels but that looked very mild, and when I wiped the wheel down seemed to go away. I do think the safest approach is probably to take the wheels off instead. But at least once I wrapped the screwdriver in the thin towel it seemed to prevent any egregious scratching. As it is I’m strongly considering getting these wheels powder-coated. I may be old fashioned but I’m not as much into these dark wheel finishes and much prefer the brighter silver look - so I’m strongly considering getting these powder-coated. And of course when/if I do that, the company who does the powder-coating for me should be able to buff out the small scratches I may have made 😁
