I got the itch to get a new truck but knew the ranger raptor and new tacomas were coming. Decided to go with a 24 trd pro( so not listening to my own advice) but waiting for years now all together has been tough. That's actually a pretty nice truck, outside and inside. I like how the infotainment screen is blended into the dash, it's not styled like someone propped up an iPad and called it a day. The removable sidesteps is an interesting option. Like you mentioned, the new Tacomas don't have a V6 anymore, just a 4-cyl turbo, so those lose big points in my book.

As someone who's living with a 19 Tacoma and a 23 Frontier now for about 7 months. Its a marginally better vehicle. Once the new vehicle appeal wears off you notice that this is just a facelift for nissan, with the exception of the trans and engine. Definitely lacks a fun factor compared to the taco but that could just be that the new frontier feels like a heavier version of every other crossover on the road now. Also hot take, the taco has comfier rear seats. Despite more leg room the frontier has a more upright seating position which is not great for long trips. The 3.8 just like the 3.5 is not great on gas, and even worse the frontier has a smaller gas tank than the taco, very frequent fuel stops. Dont get me started on the turning radius either. This being said, i do like this vehicle alot, and it looks gorgeous (we have the tactical green colour), brakes really nicely, has a larger bed and was cheaper than a comparable taco (SV premium trim). My take is its a more modern taco, that had a smaller development budget but was used better to focus on features that folks want. If i were a new buyer i would take this one over the taco, but this is not worth selling your current taco to buy.

It had plenty of torque but was an absolute slug in acceleration, gas mileage wasn’t great felt somewhat top heavy and unstable compared to other trucks. Truck felt like the 2001 model I had 20 plus years ago. Nissan Should have redesigned the entire chassis as well not just all around it. Don’t try trading one in at a dealer! Horrendous trade in coupled with so many different models and features no body will get it sells for damn near 50k. Thst will give you 5-10k less than worth. It was hard turning down $356 month lease I paid it out early $2500 6 months later to get away from it. Only truck less wonky is the Tacoma there I do agree. The new Tacoma is DOA for off-road use. The new Frontier is the antidote. Once the aftermarket catches on and we get bumpers, lift, and skid protection, the Frontier will be a vastly better option for off-road use than the new Tacoma. Nissan builds their axles, differentials, and overall drivetrain to be much stronger than the American Toyotas. My 95 Nissan truck has super heavy axles and drive components compared to my 09 Tacoma TRD. The only huge mistakes on the new Frontier are: No manual transmission, no slant to the back seat’s back, push button parking brake, low rocker panels, and the low skirting in the rear bedsides. When contrasted with the ‘24 Tacoma, those issues are minor … the new Tacoma is DOA for anyone but urbanites who want to look like they need a truck but don’t leave the highway. 🛣️

Problems in my opinion. 1) no manual transmission 2) everyone I know with Nissan vehicles built in the last five years they all have major issues.

Stop with the Manual transmission you goof. Manuals are absolete, modern autos are faster then any manual ever was.

I just wish he did a line by line comparison. If you are gonna say this quickly forgotten pick up is better than the TRD Pro (which is laughable at best) at least be honest enough to do a side by side even if it is just on paper or on screen numbers. Unsubbing from this guy was a no brainer for me.
