Rolex CPO: 1) the watch is 100% authentic and verified as such by the manufacturer 2) the watch is serviced by the manufacturer 3) the watch is warrantied by the manufacturer 4) the watch is not stolen / Frankensteined / damaged No wonder grey market dealers are freakin out.

Great video David. How about selling your Rolex? Last week I approached a few dealers, including yours to sell my Standard unworn black 2020 submariner Date with box and papers. I also approached my local AD who I’ve got a great relationship with inquiring about CPO. The best price I got was with Rolex CPO. In addition selling back to Rolex will also enhance my relationship further, they really seem to like it. I have no issues with reputable dealers like yours and I greatly enjoy your videos, but if CPO is offering more, then why should I go to a dealer to sell? 🤷♂
@Mr.Khalil0811 ай бұрын
Yes sometimes they will offer more and sometimes a preowned dealer would offer more. Notice that I’ve been addressing the vintage watches a lot. 2020 is by all means it vintage. As the market becomes more clear most would start offering close to each other but for now, I think things are messy. You should always explore your options everywhere.

Happy New Year David! A very timely subject. I think that the current Pepsi and Batman need to come down in the market. So I am looking at a Pepsi 16710 CPO. In the video at 2:10 you state that buying from the Rolex CPO program devalues the watch. Since I am still learning about vintage watches, why/how would the 16710 be devalued? Wouldn’t bringing the 16710 to tell accurate time add value to the watch?

Another great video David! Few thoughts; Did you say vintage needs to be disregarded at CPO and taken to an auction house? - There has been a rise in the sheer amt of franken & straight up fake watches sold at auction which has been very public, I don't think Auction houses hold any water in many peoples book - The general public doesn't have access to "someone with 10,20,30 years of experience" as they'd most likely fall down the wrong rabbit hole. They want ease of use, "safety" and continued their AD relationships. This is the target market for Rolex CPO program. - If you are a watch collector/geek (most likely since we watch all your vids) then yes take the time & effort to find a reputable dealer and work through them. But i don't think the CPO program was designed for niche people like us. Keep up the great work

I don’t think reputable pre-owned dealers have anything to worry about. Their knowledge and experience in fact gives them an edge when it comes to novelties and vintage watches. imo CPO only really hurts the newer generation of greys and their promotors, who rely on hype and scalping. Now that’s fading they’re being found to lack any real knowledge to fall back on. I hate to imagine how many super clones have been passed on to unsuspecting buyers, with little knowledge who relied upon these backpack dealers.

Respect your establishment and opinion. Probably buying a relatively low price tag R from grey is a wise choice, but imo buying a ‘high’ price item, consumer will have to think twice. R company imo will never perish in our lifetime but that may not be the same story for grey dealer. If one buy a ‘naked’ full gold Daytona watch from grey, he or she have to bear a lot of risk as compare to buying a CPO watch. If one buy explorer 1 or DJ, the risk of course is minimum. But value are relative and explorer 1 value can be significant to a consumer too. If the grey decides to close down, the previous warranty agreement are void.. but will R ever close down in this lifetime? 99.99% never… vs a grey?

😂 a watch flipper making the argument that it’s better to buy from a watch flipper because it’s cheaper when it’s really not 🤔flippers are great at polishing and making the watch look good at the time of purchase. I am pretty sure they are not sending watches in for maintenance and servicing to an authorized manufacturer’s service provider. There is a huge risk buying grey market watches. From consignment which is a huge ripoff to not knowing where the watch came from or what it went through. Sure there’s a little less risk if it’s a current year brand new model that’s full set and I mean complete unworn with stickers. Other than that the buyer is taking all the risks. A grey market warranty means nothing if it uses aftermarket parts that destroy the value of the watch. Grey market today is more expensive than retail in the majority of cases. It’s the crayon eaters that get taken advantage of when they go to a watch flipper to sell their watch instead of just using eBay. Yeah the Rolex CPO is expensive and it’s not for everyone, but the grey market is not doing anything near what Rolex is doing with the watch before reselling it with their name on it.
@Mr.Khalil08 Жыл бұрын
From your comment I take it as you haven’t seen my previous videos. Also Rolex destroys the value of vintage watches not the pre owned market. If Rolex services a vintage 50 year old submariner, 9 times out of ten that watch is coming out with new dial and hands that are going to glow like kryptonite. That’s the value of your watch gone to nearly nothing plus you paid them for the disservice. Good luck anyways 👍

The CPO watches are more expensive than the equivalent Grey Dealer but and it’s a big but, the watch is serviced by Rolex and most importantly the warranty is with Rolex , the warranty on the grey market is as only as good as the financial status of the GD.
