i just bought a 2024 Subaru OBW in Geyser Blue back in mid-July. I have a little over 3k on this vehicle (ain't this isn't my daily vehicle either). I love everything about it. People complain about the touch screen, but in my other vehicle I have an aftermarket pioneer touchscreen display that is slower than molasses so this is 10x better lol. The vehicle handles great! Only downside is that the closest Subaru Dealership around my location is 1.5 hrs away... I have been on fire trails etc. because I mountain bike and needed a better vehicle to help me get places. Great vehicle overall, I can't stop admiring my vehicle whenever I see it sitting in my driveway lol

I have a 2024 Outback Wilderness (in silver) and this is a very accurate video. So far I really like the car. It feels solid, good quality, the seats are really supportive and comfortable. (Not as solid and as good a driving position as my 2012 Volvo XC60 though). There’s no wireless charger in my outback wilderness but that’s fine…Subaru has had issues with wireless chargers anyway. Sound system is great but if I turn up the volume I feel too much “door speaker” vibration on my left arm. You only feel the turbo kick-in if you have a straightaway where you can really accelerate. Otherwise, it doesn’t feel like a powerful car but I know it’s very capable when I need it to be. The slight acceleration lag that’s described in the video is real. The auto start-stop function when idling is annoying because the restart of the engine is not quiet enough and actually shakes the car a bit each time the engine turns back on. So I turn off that feature at the start of every trip. It corners and takes curves well. It takes-on road bumps and other road irregularities very well. Smooth and very comfortable ride. Good looking in an odd and quirky way, but I think they really could improve. The overall styling of the exterior would maybe not so much plastic cladding everywhere which I’m not sure how that’s gonna hold up over time.

After test driving one of these, i loved it. The only thing that changed my mind was the fuel economy. Ended up getting a Forester Wilderness. I'd take an owb in a second if i didn't have to put 87 or higher octane in it.

Great review, I just subbed! I own a '22 Outback Wilderness and I love it. Negatives are that the fuel economy sucks and no heated steering wheeling like the one on this latest refresh. Good point on the tires being a mild off-roader. For new owners, It is 3 peak snow flake rated but don't confusion with a performance of an actual snow tire, it's just a better, a little more capable all season in the snow but very fun.

Outstanding video presentation, all of the relevant information in a 12 minute video. I always felt that if Subaru could get quality control dialed in and actively address common issues with real solutions, they could dominate the smaller SUV market. It also doesn't help that Subaru dealers seem to be, at least in northern Indiana, only concentrated in large cities which is far and few in between. With that being said, it doesn't seem to detract buyers as there are a ton of Subaru Outbacks cruising around here.

Made up my mind, that I really wanted a 4X4 truck but then realized I don't have use of a truck's bed. So then I was thinking of getting myself a 4runner TRD PRO but I just can't stomach paying the ridiculous amount of markup fees Toyota dealers rape I mean add to their loyalist customers seeking these vehicles. And so this leads me to the Outback Wilderness, it's a great commuter, it is capable enough to go off-road (not rock climbing) and discover awesome campsites, and it's family-friendly, and you won't brake the bank. What more can I ask for?

It’s actually more difficult for passengers to step into the outback wilderness then it is to get into my Volvo XC60 SUV. The wilderness entry “threshold” must be higher than the Volvo. So if you have short members in your family, you might want to have them get into the wilderness several times to see if it’s difficult for them.

Fantastic segment. Just subscribed. You have a way of turning over every stone that matters when giving your thoughts and assessments of this vehicle and it's trim level. I don't doubt it can tow 3500lbs. Just wonder at what cost to the life of the CVT doing so does. The Wilderness Adventure Wagon seems well equipped and looks like it too. Thankyou for your time and effort in sharing what you think about this vehicle.

Great video! So, for the money would you say the Wilderness is worth paying a little more over an Onyx XT?
@Realistick Жыл бұрын
It easily justifies the price increase but if you don't see yourself really using the extra capability and you're not absolutely in love with the Wilderness character, I'd stick with the Onyx!

I have a '22 Wilderness, I'd say no unless you regularly take it up 25%+ grades on mud/gravel/snow, or regularly take it down fire roads, logging roads, etc. All of which I've done, but I'm certain a regular XT could do almost as well. I'd get an Onyx XT, buy aftermarket skiplates, etc.

I own one of these (in the obligatory hero color of Geyser Blue), and I still found your video interesting and fun to watch. That's a testament to your production chops. And thanks for covering this car for others, in case more people are on the fence about this over, say, a Rav4, 4Runner, or even a Cherokee or Compass Trailhawk editions. The OBW is just a great all-around car, and for a lot less money than even less capable competition.

interested in purchasing an outback wilderness. I love that blue and green.
@Rxtzero Жыл бұрын
Do you regret the blue ? Because I’m getting mine tomorrow in blue and my wife hates it haha
@ShirtlessMenNetwork Жыл бұрын
@@Rxtzero I don't regret it. I had an Autumn Green Outback before this, and while I love the color and would've gladly gotten the Wilderness in it also, my husband is particularly fond of blues in general, so I opted for the Geyser Blue, since I also rather like the color. And, the color is almost a chameleon, as it'll be light blue in some situations, dark blue in others, and even a deep almost teal in still others. I particularly like it when it looks deep teal. I have to admit, though, that it doesn't look quite as grown-up as the green or the other colors, having a much sportier (i.e., youthful) appearance, but of all the colors in which the Wilderness is available, the blue is the only one that's specific to this trim, and surprisingly few people are opting for it, so it will definitely be easier to find in crowded parking lots. :)

Well you’ve put my mind at ease. I’m still somewhat young (33) and I feel the blue applies great to my taste. Thanks for sharing !

Get rid of the absolutely terrible infotainment system (seriously, just go back to one that we can actually swap out with aftermarket, please) and offer it with a MANUAL (isn't this supposed to be aimed at the enthusiast crowd?), and I would be one of the first through the door to buy one. Oh, and the safety systems are shite too, so it would be great if they were an option (best case) or could just be turned off. Sadly I don't see Subi going that direction. RIP Subi, RIP.

If you want a midsized wagon that’s pretending to be a suv, this is the only vehicle available. When you get to the pricing of the wilderness, you’re better off buying a cx90 for car like handling or 4Runner if you want truck like off-roading.
@Realistick Жыл бұрын
Respectfully, I think you're missing the big idea of the Outback wilderness. The CX-90 is monstrous compared to the Outback, I see the upcoming CX-70 having the potential to beat up the outback but the Wilderness is its own breed (mazda doesn't offer anything capable off-road like it). 4Runner is notably more expensive when equipped similarly and handles like a drunken manatee compared to the wilderness. Undoubtedly the Toyota is more capable and should last longer but the Outback Wilderness is still... A CAR. It's a sensible wagon that gives you most of the capability of proper off-road suv without the gas mileage, bloated size and clumsy handling. As goofy as it is, she has a purpose.
@bobforpples Жыл бұрын
$43k is a bargain?
@Realistick Жыл бұрын
Generally, no, but for an off-road capable family suv, it's much cheaper than a similarly equipped Toyota 4runner, Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler or Grand Cherokee, i'd say so, and you can get a wilderness spec that's less than 43k.

Silly? yes. Capable, Definitely! Cosplay is a good (and comical) way to describe some stuff on the market but the Subarus are really about it (as over-styled as they may seem). If you don't need the extra stuff, the Onyx XT exists too so I'm glad Subaru had fun with the wilderness models.
