Supposidly this generation WRX has the best engine ever found in a WRX for reliability and tunability. I remember wanting a Bug Eye WRX when they first launched and almost got one back in 2016. Now that I am in my 40's, I've thought about finally getting one but my wife is unable to drive manual anymore due to an auto accident her knee and hip don't work the same, which means I would have to get a CVT.
@AutomotiveAnonymous2089 ай бұрын
I would say so! This 2.4 Turbo engine seems to be physically built much stronger than the previous VA gen or the old EJs. I think I’ve only drive 1 or 2 of the current generation WRX with the CVT (basically the same powertrain as my Outback Wilderness) and it was still very fun! You guys should definitely test drive one someday if that’s your dream. 😀

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208Yes. I have a 2023 WRX Premium in ignition red. Compared to the Corolla GR and Honda Civic Type R, the WRX is under tuned from the factory. It can easily handle another 70 HP. But it’s just fine in stock form.

I had a 2018 WRX with the manual. I think the specs said 6.2 0-60, so the new one is a little quicker with a manual. TBH, I got rid of it as I found it boring. 0-60 was only slightly faster than a 50 year old motorcycle I have and was no match for my newer bikes. While the MPG claimed 20 in city, I typically got about 15 or 16. It’s very loud in the car with little sound deadening, making a daily driver limited. Given the CVT is even worse on performance, I’d be cautious on considering that option here. To me, there are better options in cars with more performance, economy and daily driving comfort. Or get a bike & it will be even quicker and cheaper…

When I first saw the car unveiled I was extremely displeased and swore I would never buy one. Now 3 years later and I currently have a new job driving around brand new cars and parking them, I often get to chance drive brand new WRX's right off the train from the factory, and man my mind is changed. The black plastic cladding is actually kind of cool in-person and it just screams Subaru, so much so that I actually appreciate it now. The fully spec'd out RS model with the Brembo brakes makes it look like a beast, even though I'm not allowed to drive it over 25km/hr as part of my job the driving feel of the car just feels really good and lives rent-free in my head. Would I get it over a used last gen WRX STI? Very high probability. The black plastic cladding is just so practical and humble. I feel like Subaru knocked it out of the park with with this one.
@doctorrobert60Ай бұрын
I looked at the Rally Blue but ended up buying 2024 WRX in Ceramic White. The black cladding actually looks pretty good contrasting with the Ceramic White color. The White is non-metallic which actually seems better with the cladding than a metallic color.

Only downside to me is fuel economy and premium fuel recommendation. I average about 25 mpg combined in daily driving. One of my jobs is to run them on free rollers (which are a lot like dynos) and we bring it up to around 30 mph then floor it. That’s what made me look up the legacy sport 0-60, the speedometer just flies up and it feels like it’s actually going to jump off the rollers. At first I hated all the body cladding (particularly how ugly its design makes the car look on the rear). However, it really does protects the car all around from scuffs/burs and makes it very easy to repair/replace any of those panels without damaging the paint. Subaru knew exactly what it was doing. This car has so much potential, easily gets into 350-400hp with a few simple mods, has a timing chain(awesome) and of course the awesome AWD. Boring can be good, especially when you got the last year of the V6 and hopefully very reliable Colorado! Insurance could be similar to the Mustang, I’m not sure.
