I like the yellow paint. So many bikes are either black, or just a boring version of their manufacturer's color these days. We need brighter colors to be seen.

Test rode one today! Honestly, it exceeded my expectations as I was a bit skeptical of the twin. I really liked the torque down low instead of needing 10k rpms. It grew on me pretty quick.

Exhaust and tune, gives you another 10 ft-lb torque. Which is amazing and I'm glad to see how much potential is baked into it.

Excellent review, Great looking middleweight bike ,agree with comment about riding position as many upright bikes aren’t that comfortable, a well ergonomically designed sports oriented bike can be more comfortable. Reminds me of the old GSXF formula which sold in bucket loads, but with current technology should be a great seller for Suzuki 👍🏻

Would this bike be good for touring? The new vstrom 800 re is only a few hundred dollars more, wouldn't that bike be better for touring with its bigger gas tank and rear rack coming as standard?

touring go vstrom it is about range and body position this gsx 8r is a sport bike-tourer.. Hope to get one soon..

I promise you the full Yoshimura system that was fitted on the 8R did not drop 20 pounds. The M4, Arrow, and Akrapovic systems drop about 7 to 7.5 pounds. So far Yoshimura doesn't have anything on their website for consumer market.

With so much more CC it surprises me the hp is still so similar to the SV. Watching top speed videos of the gsx8s the top speed seems to be the same aswell as my sv650X

SV maxes out around 75 wheel horsepower and about 47 ft-lb with full system and tuning. So far the GSX-8S has been making 86-88 wheel horsepower and 62-64 ft-lb on dyno with similar tuning.

I have a 2003 SV1000s. It makes 123.5 hp at 9000 rpm. It’s quite a jump from both of these bikes and you can definitely feel it. Especially in 3rd gear starting around 4000 rpm. It pulls like a freight train.

Quicker than you think. You just change up sooner. Great torque. Lose you license in 6 seconds. From 70kph you are at park the bike and walking home speeds in a few seconds. That's 160kph where I live. Disqualified on the spot.

@@sagarthapa3765I see it more of a benchmark for testing the bike limits. A track is a very controlled environment, so that makes it a great place to do those test.

A few reasons. One it's good to communicate its capabilities to those who will race the bike. There's also less variability than trying to test the bike on public streets.

Its enough because you can feel like you are thrashing it unlike my GsXS1000 S where i could never use all of the power on the street other than a 5-10 second blast. So pointless and because it makes less power it will be quicker down a set of twisties.

Some people prefer the looks of fairings and the windshield is a nice difference. If you intend to do more track oriented days or a bit of touring, the 8R makes more sense to the 8S.

@@wlt3585 Because riding around on an old supersport is really uncomfortable and the power is in the wrong place in the rev range for everyday riding. They don't sell. People want everyday bikes. And the fairing is cool. Also the 8S is a little bit more upright with wider bars. Less comfortable in my view.

They make the GSXR600 for that. This is not really a track bike, it’s a compromised bike made for the street. More upright riding position. Doesn’t need the most horsepower or speed.

So because Suzuki made a competitor for the RS660, R7, CBR650R, Daytona 660........ You're saying Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, and Suzuki are going to throw away all their 600's and 750's and 1000's? Is that what you're saying? Is a couple of KZbin videos as far as you're looking into what manufacturers offer in their lineups, or do you ever visit their sites or read magazines?
