I like the plaid embossing on the front seats. Regardless of curve results, I think it is a sweet ride. Thing will be a breeze to maintain and road trip in. Duck obviously likes the upgrade too. Thx for the video. Really well produced with the tech easily displayed through the session. I enjoyed watching.

That's actually a pretty good charging curve for a 400V car. Remember the lower voltage requires more amps and generates a lot more heat. Four times as much heat as an 800V car to be exact. Your cell temps were reaching close to 150ºF which is extremely toasty for lithium cells, honestly I don't understand how they allow them to get that hot (some other brands won't ever let their cells get hotter than about 105ºF). You were pulling close to 700 amps at the beginning. Teslas are the king of amps, and are the only brand of EV on the market that can charge at greater than 500 amps.

Road debris is precisely the reason I'll never use FSD on my Model Y. Too many deer crossing the road near the airport on my way to the office. The brief time I tested FSD, I was nervous like when I taught my kids to drive when they turned 16. Heck, I like driving since I do so little mileage. My March '24 purchased Model Y only has 2691 miles.

@@HeavenGuy yes it works I do not like the Wi-Fi connection, though. I may go ahead and put my old Bluetooth dongle in and use it the old-fashioned way.

I have the same issue with speed limits. Going way to slow like an old man. Then going from 55mph to 45mph zone it just keeps barreling thru at 52 mph. I live in a small town and you can't do that passing thru small towns. Ticket guaranteed.
@Crazypostman4 ай бұрын
@@natebva Yeah, there's definitely something up with the speed limits. It's like a constant battle to get it to go the right speed.

Report that to NHTSA if it's busting speed zones. It should see the sign and immediately slow down.

I need to get a good record of the low end of the curve for my Mach-E. Not nearly as fast at peak as the Tesla, but it holds power longer.

How come charging stations don't seem to have overhead protection like the gas pumps?
@TechnicalLee4 ай бұрын
Because that's expensive and adds a lot of complication to site agreements.

Did the car know you were going to charge at this supercharger - so did it pre-condition the battery? Did the looping you did confuse it? Also, how does the supercharger cost compare to petrol prices in your area? 👍
@Crazypostman4 ай бұрын
@@prwilson101 It did precondition. It only preconditioned for 20 minutes and then it shut off. I'm not sure if it completed preconditioning or if it stopped because low battery. The Supercharger stayed in the nav the whole time. The first time I did a U-turn, I completely forgot FSD would try to turn me around. When it started to turn off on a side road, I was confused for a minute 🤣

Tesla really needs to fatten up that charging curve 250kw to 50% would be a nice improvement.
@Crazypostman4 ай бұрын
@@teggy95se Yeah, it's basically the same curve since the Model 3 came out in 17-2018ish

Take a look at the Model Y SR with the BYD blade battery. Charges 3C, which is 176kW. 10-80% in 20min. But you can plug it in at 75% and still get 176kW ! Charge curve is shifted, no need to plug it at below 10%. The MY SR is the slowest Tesla, only one motor, but has better mileage, so the 58kWh small battery is compensated and on long distance the LR battery is no longer a benefit. Especially when topping up at high SoC. The BYD is only available in EU made Y SR. The LR battery is from LG over here, which is slower than the US Panasonic. We all hope for the upcoming 2024 LFPs from CATL and BYD, they are even better in charging and energy density

250 kW to 50% would be impossible with 400V packs, stuff would melt. That's like 700 amps through wires smaller than your pinky.

I have not tried FSD. I have seen enough bad things with basic Autopilot to just not trust it. It is really kind of frustrating. I see people all the time going on about how great FSD and Autopilot are, but that really hasn't been my experience. If only we could get eGMP charging performance with the efficiency of the M3. Not an amazing charging curve for sure, but faster than my LG pack M3LR. 15-20 minute stops on a road trip should be a no brainer.
