My main gripe is no rear collision warning system when you are backing up. That should be standard by now. I got 2 and both of them don't offer this. You would think with all those cameras it would tell me there was a car coming when backing up. Big fail there.

Just picked up '24 MYLR W/W after a month of waiting. Driving experience is great. FSD is just incredible. The sound system is fine. One-pedal driving or Regen brake was definitely something I had to get used to. Regen brake is pretty aggressive. Rear view through rear window is a little hard. The car is quiet, and is heavy. The steering wheel is hard. It feels like BMW. Acceleration is great. Build-Quality is still lagging. Door misalignment is just terrible. A/C is fine.

When I bought my 2023 Model Y Long Range, I intentionally ordered one with the 19" wheels for the ride quality. I test drove a Performance and the Long Range with both the 19" and 20" wheels. The Performance model was a hard "No" due to the punishing ride quality. The 20" wheels also degraded the ride significantly over the 19"-ers. That said, I constantly second guess myself over not getting the the 20" Induction wheels just because the wheels look so much better than the Gemini wheels and the hub caps.

Hi Ryan, Another useful intro to the Model Y. I bought a 2021 in Dec 20 and my experience mirrors your"s. I later test drove a late 2022 with the comfort suspension and was impressed enough to buy a 2023. It is an improvement over the original, but it is still too bumpy (and road-noisy). In general I have has very few software issues; in this respect is it more like a tech product than a vehicle. My car is white with a white interior and I live in Palm Springs, so I did add a sunroof cover that makes a huge difference, both for heat reduction and sound insulation (the cargo cover helps there as well.) My number one daily complaint is the useless door stops. The doors are heavy and don't want to stay open as you leave the car. It's a constant battle.

So, just a non-video-specific thought, that might save Tesla owners the 18 mths of irritation & confusion, that I experienced - with playback of music files... The tesla software cannot resolve a single drive split into two sections. Assuming you are using an SSD of any sort (not USB-stick drive), mostly, you will have attempted to partition two sections into the drive, one for Teslacam, one for Music. And then you might find the Music files don't play properly / the Teslacam recordings are jumpy and poor resolution / music files start, then glitch /etc etc. You need TWO separate drives, one for each media type. Use a simple USB wired hub on a short line, then add your SSD's to that. Or an SSD for Teslacam, and USB stick for music. It works.

Got a 2024 RWD recently and it’s pretty good overall. Biggest complaints are that FSD is a joke and the AC struggles with the heat load in Phoenix. Regarding FSD for freeway driving.. My experience is most traffic speed is above the limits. I would expect the FSD would not go above those limits and that's a problem if it makes your car the slowest on the freeway. However, it makes a lot more sense for city or urban driving. Boomers will find it compelling.

I'd probably buy now, before the election and ahead of Juniper if I was on a "2 more cars" plan. Even delaying my purchase for another 3 years with the advancements that delay brings may not be enough to keep me out of the 2 more cars plan. The UI is still crappy in several ways... Grey text on white background. Terrible. Especially for those of us oldsters who need better contrast. Tesla has refused to even acknowledge this complaint The Accel/Regen indicator is now nearly invisible, while the real estate where it was is unused. WHY did they change this? Swivel/tilt of the screen to minimize glare under differing conditions. A simple factory build, a fairly involved and expensive aftermarket mod. Why no option to make blind spot view when turn signals are on be full screen for better visibility? Time of Day clock still tiny and near invisible. Door lock/unlock touch point near invisible. Compass tiny and near invisible. But we have all the silly useless games, no way to create custom hot spots for favorite functions, and inability to listen to the browser while driving. I don't want to watch the browser when driving of course, but there are KZbin sites to which I would like to listen. I have purchased three Model 3s since 2020 and am Jonesing for an S.
