I have been getting approx 22.1 mpg around town and mixed driving. On highway trip I got 23.2 on a 350 mile trip.

That is why I do these tests! It's a great off roader, but not the best for fuel economy.

How many total miles on the LC when you started the test? Were previous fill ups with high octane ?

Great Questions!! There was 813 miles and it was delivered to me with a full tank. I don't know if the media company follows recommendations of not. So, some might say the engine isn't fully broken in, while that is true, it should have minimal effect on MPG. But, if they put 87 octane in instead of 93 like I did....that could have a negative result on the test.

Yes it is, but some people do care about fuel economy also. How many people are going to pay $60K and take it of road? 5%, 10%.....maybe. I test every car regardless of it's intended use.

For many people, it's about more than one thing, and premium gas costs an extra .90 cents a gallon here... so no thanks, you can have it...

My new Land Cruiser is only getting 16.3 mpg for the first 900 miles of mostly city driving which is disappointing given the EPA city rating is 22. Also noticed that when you reset the odometer and mileage at the start of the test this one was only reading 16.0 mpg for 800 miles.

No, we drive all Real World Tests in Normal mode because that is how most people will drive it. I always give the parameters of the test in each video.

@@offtheshelfrides I disagree. Most people commuting will opt for eco mode. FWIW i have 130 miles on mine and doing 20.3 and climbing. it was at 4mpg when i bought it at 9 miles on the odo.

The fact this engine requires premium fuel, which is 90 cents a gallon more than regular where I live, makes the fuel economy numbers for this SUV a potential deal breaker.

Well, you know as well as I do, 75% of people will put 87 in it. The computer will adjust, but probably will lose HP...

Don't blame the roof rack. You didn't use eco mode & you drove over 65. It's not the truck, it's you. Clearly this truck is capable of getting every bit of the EPA rated fuel economy.

You are missing the point of the test being "Real World" This is a test to show MPG of how most people drive and use their vehicles. Most people don't drive in Eco, they get in and go, they speed...that is what the test is about...what MPG you can expect to get opposed to what you read

We have some hills and some traffic. I don't live in a big city or in the south with huge hills, have to use what I have to work with.

Not necessarily, he might've had better results with a bit more traffic with the hybrid system.
