Maybe i missed it, but not putting acoustic glass in a $60k vehicle when they put it in the Tacoma Off-road that cost less is a big miss. That should be a standard feature. I really like the new LC but Toyota is making it difficult to pull the trigger on it with some of their odd decisions.

Tim, as a prospective land cruiser buyer I really like the cloth seats and wish they were an option on the land cruiser trim. I've never seen a vehicle with ventilated cloth seats but I wish it could be done because the points you made are exactly why I like cloth so much more than the softex or the leather.

@islandhopper100 How? Of the three new Land Cruiser editions (1958, Land Cruiser, First edition) the 1958 is the most focused of the three. I could understand your point with the mid trim, as it comes w/ optional 20in wheels.
@brandonedwards4398
@brandonedwards4398 2 ай бұрын
@islandhopper100 1958 is a blank canvas for the off-road enthusiast. It's basic. Cloth/manual seats, no large infotainment screens, just three plain color options.. but it still has most (not all) of everything you need for serious 4WD- 9.5" rear axle on coils w/ rear locker, full time 4WD drive w/ center locking diff & low range, cast iron front diff (a lot of manufactures have gone to aluminum), and a new robust ladder frame. Yes, it needs front sway bar disconnect as standard, but that's all its missing (manual trans would be nice, but now we are dreaming). I think the mid trim has too much of what you don't need. Leather seats, large infotainment screens, and optional 20in wheels (I didn't see 20" wheels as an option on base 1958 trim, but you could probably special order them through your dealer). www.toyota.com/configurator/build/step/color/year/2024/series/landcruiser/model/6165/exteriorcolor/04V8/interiorcolor/FB20/packages/FE/?bap_guid=9c4bacaf-23fa-4de1-b198-331b2b03f324

Thank you for the video. I've been watching videos on the LC for about a month. The 1958 Edition is about what I want to pay, but it doesn't come with a premium sound system and I need a good sounding stereo. Does the 1958 edition come with auto climate control? I had a couple Lexus cars that had that and it was great, I don't like messing with the temp control, I'd rather set it and forget about it. After watching this and other videos, I might just wait until the model year.

Hey Tim, Toyota seems to be following in GM’s footsteps! They don’t seem to be listening to their customers feedback ( I know this is a new model ) but wouldn’t it be nice to have a manufacturer ask loyal customers for what they would like to see in either a new model year vehicle or a new vehicle introduction.? I haven’t really heard anyone mention over the hood view with this new Landcruiser, is it better than the last generation of FJ, worse or about the same? I was going to buy the last gen of FJ until I drove it and couldn’t see squat over the hood! I’m not that tall but, I could see much better over the hood of a JK! I always loved Toyota’s ergonomics and quality and was the main reason for buying 4 of them plus 1 Lexus. Toyota has some great safety features but, for some strange reason their software is not very user friendly or intuitive. The towing system/hitch cover is a total mess! Is there a law against showing your naked receiver hitch that I’m not aware of? As always stay safe and healthy.

The cloth seats in that 250 look like a real downgrade from the 150 series, which has much better seats. When I bought my 150 series LC 2 years ago, I bought the lowest trim model and bought an upgraded screen, navigation and music system combination. It has a 360o camera, front camera, rear camera, terrain camera so you can see underneath the front of the car, gyroscope, etc. Was well worth the extra money and still way cheaper than going up to the top trim to get that. If you order it when you bought it, you could have had that all installed, or do they not offer that as an option there. My 150 series which is diesel gets the same mpg as that hybrid, but the fuel is much cheaper. So over all much cheaper to run than the that petrol 250. Here the 250 comes with the same 2.8 diesel as is in my current 150 series. I upgraded the seats with custom made leather covers that look like factory fitted seats. I think your made the right choice to by the lower trim and then you can upgrade it as you wish. As for the mode control. Total waste, you don't need it. Mine doesn't have it. I have been through 50cm deep snow been off road through muddy rough tracks and haven't touched anything. Not yet needed to use the 4L or diff lock. The various terrain modes is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. With the 150 series as soon as you go to 4L it automatically disabled stability control,, traction control, collision avoidance sensors and other things not needed for off roading. You may find once you select 4L it will disable those functions. The new 250 is a nice rig, looks very nice, but having a 150 series that I bought new 2 years ago, I absolutely can not find any reason to want to buy the 250 series. But for someone who does not own a 4x4 or doesn't own an LC then the 250 would surely be a good choice.

@blackwatch7151

@@GregKittle it depends on what your criteria is for the best Land Cruiser. The 100 is 4 inches shorter and 1 inch narrower than the 200. The 80 series is 8 inches shorter and 2 inches narrower. As Americans got bigger so did the American LC. The 100 isn’t the best by far but the last functional LC in America. The 70 series is by far the best LC.
@GregKittle
@GregKittle 2 ай бұрын
@@blackwatch7151 Too many factual inaccuracies in your statement. First, you refer to the Land Cruiser as "the American LC." Don't you realize that the Land Cruiser is a global platform? The 80, 100, and 200 series were all global vehicles. And as for the 100 being the last functional Land Cruiser in America? Nope!!! You completely ignored my comment. The 200 series is on a stronger platform (basically improved from the 100). It has beefed up frame sections, a stronger rear end, beefier drive shafts, and a much more beefy front end. And a more stout engine for that size of a vehicle. So wait, you're saying the 100 series is the last functional Land Cruiser in America? Is that because its a whopping 1 inch narrower? Have you just ignored all the people who've built the 200 series and actually use them, worldwide? I'm just curious where you're getting this idea from, because it really doesn't make sense to me.
@blackwatch7151
@blackwatch7151 2 ай бұрын
@@GregKittle What factual inaccuracies? And what comment did I ignore? The blanket statement you made where you said the 200 is better than the 100 in every way? That's your opinion based on what you believe is the criteria for a better Land cruiser. The LC200 was introduced as a luxury SUV targeting rich people in the ME and USA primarily. Same as the 300. I haven't seen one 200 series in Central America but I have seen an endless amount of old 4Rs and 40/70 series LCs. It's as popular in Africa, Central/South America and Australia as a Dodge Ram. There's a reason why the Hilux is sold in these markets and not full size PUs. My statements referred to the ever growing size of the LC as Toyota tried to sell a luxury land Cruiser version for the first time. The 70 series is about 8 inches narrower than aa 200 series and in between these the 80/100/200/LX600 have emerged to sell in the ever increasing luxury market as it evolved over the past 30 years. The 200 was a global vehicle but it's evolution is rooted in American "super size me"/"large Marge" culture. The 200 and now 300 have become popular with rich oil Sheiks and Eastern European Oligarch types. The Prado has tried to bridge this world and sell a bit of luxury to the "3rd world" Land Cruisers did not build their reputation on driving people to the mall as the recent North American Land Cruisers have been intended for. They earned them in the bush in Australia, Africa and Central/South America, built to go places other vehicles can't and if they need maintenance or repairs they can be worked on without a computer and a simple socket set and screw driver. The hysteria amongst the American Toyota fanboys over the LC250 is pathetic. It's a nice looking vehicle but it's not what a Land Cruiser was designed to be. There's a reason they still sell the 70 series in most of the world and we don't get it in NA. Toyota panders to the mall crawling posers who want to drive around Florida in lifted trucks on the same roads Ferraris drive. Gotta look cool going to the outlets. I'm sure all of this is completely wrong in your world and the Land Cruiser's reputation was built on bloated land yachts fighting for parking spots at Star Bucks or the mall.

@@blackwatch7151 I poked your nerves, sorry about that. I gave a list of reasons why the 200 series was improved over the 100 series, and you called it "my opinion." You also said that the 200 series was the American version, which is just plain factually incorrect. In America we only got the luxury version, but in Australia, Africa, Asia, and South America they also got the base model. You could even get it with the diesel in some markets. So you're just plain not correct with a lot of your reasoning. Could you please do some basic research before replying to me again.

I ordered the base trim Prado 2.8 diesel here in Japan. The limitations they impose on base level models are absurd. I thinks it's all about up selling, also the designers and management are very superficial, so base model can only get tiny screen, no roof racks, one headlight style, no sunroof, no opening rear glass black and plain white colors only, really. Toyota can't figure out how to offer high volume vehicles in other colors. It's a statement that you couldn't afford the extra 9000 usd for the next trim up which must come with sun roof and leather seats, which I don't want. I get they are trying to mimick tesla manufacturing simplicity, and iPhone upselling techniques, but it's Toyota.
