Some dealers offering gifts for long wait times. Others not offering a thing. Cancelled orders being sold at a premium to queue jumpers rather than giving it to the next person with the same vehicle on order. Attempts made to those on fixed price contacts to pay the increased price upon collection of the vehicle.

Have travelled 45,000k in our 2022 cruiser AWD, it is truly an excellent car with a comfortable ride and good power. Averaging 5.9 litres per 100 with mostly rural and freeway driving. Toyota reliability, with everything working flawlessly and cheap servicing. If you order one, it is well worth the wait.

Love the channel Paul and team. Suggestion - about adding either verbal or short cut to control of passenger seat in cars and whether they are height adjustable. When car shopping this is a deal breaker for many people. Just would be a little bit of extra appreciated information. Cheers

My 2023 GXL is doing great. Serves me and my family just the way it should be.have driven 11000 km and my fuel consumption is at 5.3/100, which is brilliant. Paul, the EV mode makes absolute sense to me as I drive 45 mins (each way) in the freeway every morning (rush hour) to work and it is nice to see the mode kick in often, reducing the fuel consumption by a good margin. Reliability, ownership costs, and resale value are the three biggest factors that makes me a happy Toyota customer.

We grabbed our Cruiser hybrid in June last year. It’s a great car, save for a few minor issues, nothing mechanically just little things that eat into the enjoyment behind the wheel. The 2.5L can be at times quite raspy and the CVT is a little flat, the AWD hybrid however adds a lot of positives to balance out its quirks and even at overtaking speeds it seems to have ample pull. There’s a bit of wind noise around the top of the A pillar after 80kph and the centre armrest/console is as flimsy as a politician’s promise, it creeks like an old boat if you rest your arm on it. Consumption after 9000 km is at 5.8L, not what was stickered but not terrible either. It’s considerably less expensive to service and insurance wasn’t too expensive either. Around town it zips along comfortably, quietly and seems quite sure footed. All in all we’re very happy with this vehicle but it would be a different experience now considering how much they’ve jumped up in price 😮.

I've had mine for a month now. It's in Adventure trim (I believe it would be an equivalent of Edge in Australia). Mild offroading on snow is alright, the sound insulation could be a bit better but also not too bad. I'm averaging at 6.5 liters per 100km, but the eco mode in it actually works. If eco is engaged and I'm trying to save the fuel, I'm able to get about 4 liters per 100km.

Bought a 2022 Hybrid Limited (I think it is called Cruiser in Australia) few weeks ago. Loves the drive comfort in the city and urban areas. I had a long distance few days ago and noticed couple of things that are never discussed in any of the reviews. I use tiptronic when I drive on windy roads so that I have better control (and I like the feel of driving like a manual). The first thing I noticed is when you drive on a gear and comes to a complete stop, the gear does not automatically goes to 1 (My 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander used to do this so I'm comparing to it). The other is RAV4 does not have paddle shifts and the gear lever is placed bit towards the back near the centre console. That means when you are taking sharp corners your left hand is out from the steering wheel for a considerable time likely causing understeer. So based on my experience the tiptroic system in RAV4 is not much practical especially when driving on windy roads.

We ordered a cruiser hybrid awd mid 2021 and got it delivered after an 8 month wait. We also get slightly better fuel efficiency in ours which averages 5.5l/100km, so very happy with that. Unfortunately due to the chip shortage at the time we didn't get the bigger 10 inch display, stuck with the old tech, and a very crappy reverse camera. Overall a great car, and at the time weren't many others getting the same fuel efficiency, but that has changed now.

Hi Paul, you do great stuff and love your work. Quick one for you. You did a 2022 Rav4 review on the Edge Hybrid and commented how quiet it was in cabin. So quiet that you could hear your shoe squeaking on the side floor board. Now in this 2024 version you went on saying that you experienced a lot of road noise coming into the cabin - on the freeway over you could hear trucks and had to up the radio. I know it may not be an apples to apples comparison (different roads) but do you think sound insulation has gotten worse from the 2022 model to the current 2024? No cabin noise measurements unfortuantely for the 2022 version but your initial thoughts shared on that version made it out to be quiet Lexus like. Perception thing maybe?

@@Gopinathk17 The car warms the engine in cold mornings and charges the battery, (this is important for engine life) once it charges over 50 percent ev is available there is enough power to get you through the back streets to get you to the freeway. While on the freeway it charges the battery and when you are about to get to work it is charged again and you go on ev mode to get to work through the back streets. The good thing is that the back streets speed limit is 60 some times 50km. The ev mode goes off at 59km/hr. If you want to make noise first thing in the morning and annoy the neighbours then this is not your car. If you want to drive for free in bumper to bumper traffic jams, if you don’t want to speed in school zones if you don’t want to give more revenue to the local authorities and you want to save money and your licence as well as having zero repairs and just pay $182 per or $280 fixed price services for 15,000 for Corolla and rav4 services then this are your cars. I recommend that any new car it doesn’t matter what manufacturer you should break in. Do not rev over 3000 rpm for the first 500 rpm no sudden breaking no towing for the first 1000km no constant ( vary the rpm)engine rpm. Add an extra oil change at least on the 7000 km. Use Toyota oil and filter as well as plug seal. It’s much cheaper than even the super cheap, Repco and Autobarn aftermarket parts. Also ridiculously easy to do. A screw diver , a 19mm socket or spanner and an oil filter tool., easy as.

Toyota's system is a pure mechanical system. Very reliable and low cost maintenance. These things will keep buzzing for hunderds and hunderds of miles. Something alot of car reviewers often miss. You should compare the driving cost of a Nissan to this car, Not to mention the sell value. Toyota and Lexus is all about reliability and efficiency.

I don’t think this is the worst perspective to have. Toyota has long since been the company to beat, especially in the hybrid market. It just comes down to the fact that if they don’t keep innovating, everyone else can catch up. With the injection of GWM/Haval, MG and BYD, plus the strides that Kia/Hyundai are making, Toyota needs to work hard to maintain its market share, particularly given their price point doesn’t make as good a value proposition in this tightening economy.

I don't think how hard other manufacturers try , they have never been able to beat the reliability of Toyota's. Chinese manufacturers come in large numbers, where they lack is this reliability factor.

I live in a California like country from Europe, you can only buy a single motor for most brands except germans and they are all underpowerted hybrids, you don't see it yet in au and america but I have little doubt it's your future too enjoy diesel and petrol while you can one year we had good engines the next they were gone thanks to our governement giving manufacturers impossible emissions quotas to maintain, most sport versions are gone too

I think I have seen you do two video reviews of this generation Rav4 before. This review of the car by you seems MUCH worse. I'm scratching my head as to how this could be? Based on THIS review, where you are disappointed with and concerned in so many areas, I would disregard this vehicle altogether. Which would be a different conclusion from the one I would have had following the earlier 2 reviews. Objectively speaking, the car could not have actually become worse? So, does that mean you just woke up on the wrong side of the bed that morning? Or are your standards malleable? Or perhaps because there is such a long waiting list, with no cars available, you cannot offer your buyers service for this vehicle, thus the incentive to give a harsher review, so that consumers might choose a competitor through your car purchasing service? That would really be a blow to your integrity. I love cars. I have owned many brands. I don't own a Rav4. But, while not being the top in any one area, it seems to do a decent job of meeting the expectations in most for many consumers. Consumers in such diverse areas as Australia and the United States apparently agree, which must be why it is the top-selling automobile (excluding trucks) in both counties/markets. I am disappointed and wonder now, how much of an objective review I can expect from your videos. 🤔

I believe Toyota have stopped taking orders for the Camry due to demand, and 2nd hand are still a bit overpriced.. maybe wait 6 months and see if 2nd hand prices go down. Having just picked up a Corolla Cross SUV GXL AWD hybrid (which I'm loving after 11 month wait) try taking it for a test drive. It's the first Toyota model in Australia with the 5th generation hybrid platform, I've found it to be a big step up from my brother in law's 2019 hybrid Camry, and my father in law's 2018 Lexus hybrid in terms of efficiency. I think the 2024 Camry will have the 5th generation hybrid platform, and I think it's worth it. You can always drop a $1000 refundable deposit on a 2024 Camry to get the ball rolling, and get it back if you decide to go 2nd hand. Hope this helps.
