We grabbed our Cruiser hybrid in June last year. It’s a great car, save for a few minor issues, nothing mechanically just little things that eat into the enjoyment behind the wheel. The 2.5L can be at times quite raspy and the CVT is a little flat, the AWD hybrid however adds a lot of positives to balance out its quirks and even at overtaking speeds it seems to have ample pull. There’s a bit of wind noise around the top of the A pillar after 80kph and the centre armrest/console is as flimsy as a politician’s promise, it creeks like an old boat if you rest your arm on it. Consumption after 9000 km is at 5.8L, not what was stickered but not terrible either. It’s considerably less expensive to service and insurance wasn’t too expensive either. Around town it zips along comfortably, quietly and seems quite sure footed. All in all we’re very happy with this vehicle but it would be a different experience now considering how much they’ve jumped up in price 😮.

I don’t think this is the worst perspective to have. Toyota has long since been the company to beat, especially in the hybrid market. It just comes down to the fact that if they don’t keep innovating, everyone else can catch up. With the injection of GWM/Haval, MG and BYD, plus the strides that Kia/Hyundai are making, Toyota needs to work hard to maintain its market share, particularly given their price point doesn’t make as good a value proposition in this tightening economy.

Toyota Australia is cheating customers on map upgrades. I bought my RAV4 Cruiser Hybrid in 2021. My average annual mileage is around 10,000 km. Given the low mileage there is no great rush on my part to do the annual service which I normally do within a month from each anniversary date. During the service I have the free map upgrade (customers are entitled for 3 map upgrades free). However on my 3rd anniversary service, Toyota refused to give me the 3rd free map upgrade. After a couple of lengthy discussions with Toyota Customer Service I was told that I am not entitled for the 3rd free map upgrade as I have gone pass the 3rd anniversary date by a few weeks. This is gross cheating. Shame on Toyota Australia.

@@Gopinathk17 The car warms the engine in cold mornings and charges the battery, (this is important for engine life) once it charges over 50 percent ev is available there is enough power to get you through the back streets to get you to the freeway. While on the freeway it charges the battery and when you are about to get to work it is charged again and you go on ev mode to get to work through the back streets. The good thing is that the back streets speed limit is 60 some times 50km. The ev mode goes off at 59km/hr. If you want to make noise first thing in the morning and annoy the neighbours then this is not your car. If you want to drive for free in bumper to bumper traffic jams, if you don’t want to speed in school zones if you don’t want to give more revenue to the local authorities and you want to save money and your licence as well as having zero repairs and just pay $182 per or $280 fixed price services for 15,000 for Corolla and rav4 services then this are your cars. I recommend that any new car it doesn’t matter what manufacturer you should break in. Do not rev over 3000 rpm for the first 500 rpm no sudden breaking no towing for the first 1000km no constant ( vary the rpm)engine rpm. Add an extra oil change at least on the 7000 km. Use Toyota oil and filter as well as plug seal. It’s much cheaper than even the super cheap, Repco and Autobarn aftermarket parts. Also ridiculously easy to do. A screw diver , a 19mm socket or spanner and an oil filter tool., easy as.

I know it may not be an apples to apples comparison (different roads) but do you think sound insulation has gotten worse from the 2022 model to the current 2024? No cabin noise measurements unfortuantely for the 2022 version but your initial thoughts shared on that version made it out to be quiet Lexus like. Perception thing maybe?

I don't understand the hype for the toyota, and this video proves waiting for 2 years is pretty pointless considering other vehicles that are readily available now. Unless you want to pay 60k for a standard, bland, loud, noisy hybrid.

Hype? which brand of car do most taxis and Ubers drive? Not Mazda. How many 1980s Toyota Landcruisers are still driving around. Not fancy but cheap to run and RELIABLE.

are they competing against themselves with the BZ4X? any idea on the price of that car. Toyotas a slowly morphing into each other with the same design profiles different sized versions.

ok hive mind i really need your help please i have no one in my small circle that knows enough about cars, ive decided not to go the rav4 but to stay with the Toyota brand and get a Camry, do i get a brand new 2023 SX model or do i go back a year or 2 and pick up a top of the range SL , im not i rich man so i need something for 10+........i really don't know the best way forward i would appreciate any help or push in the right direction to help me find some useful info, thanks

I believe Toyota have stopped taking orders for the Camry due to demand, and 2nd hand are still a bit overpriced.. maybe wait 6 months and see if 2nd hand prices go down. Having just picked up a Corolla Cross SUV GXL AWD hybrid (which I'm loving after 11 month wait) try taking it for a test drive. It's the first Toyota model in Australia with the 5th generation hybrid platform, I've found it to be a big step up from my brother in law's 2019 hybrid Camry, and my father in law's 2018 Lexus hybrid in terms of efficiency. I think the 2024 Camry will have the 5th generation hybrid platform, and I think it's worth it. You can always drop a $1000 refundable deposit on a 2024 Camry to get the ball rolling, and get it back if you decide to go 2nd hand. Hope this helps.

Title should be "is this still the best vehicle for people with no imagination"

Imagination and a growth mindset isn’t for everyone. Folks will still buy outdated design and technology for brand recognition. Upcoming brands are now offering better value for money

I searched everywhere for a video of the 2023 edge hybrid. There was a comparison but they couldn’t get one so that was a lie. Mine arrives Thursday. What I get is that it’s a cruiser hybrid but better much nicer grill and 19” wheels.

But didn’t Toyota exclude power front passenger seat in the Edge which is available in the Cruiser?
@TheGamer21HD Жыл бұрын
Would be nice, if you could get one. I wish we could get our hands on the prime.😊
@kidfreejones Жыл бұрын
Considering Canada have a 2 to 3 year wait for Prime, even with the new gen announced next year I doubt we'll ever see it. Toyota Australia treat us like crap and we lap it up. No wonder the Chinese are keen to steal that with a simple thing called decent supply and price.

I had a choice between buying a Toyota with a CVT transmission or a dual clutch from a different manufacture,, not a fan of both but went with a different manufacture.

I think you should test the autonomous driving mode on real-time real world traffic situations and not on a private test track and then we'll all see how good of a car the systems has on board, but still a good video ❤👍👍🙏

Why are we paying 5,6k extra for the so-called top end toyota rav 4 hybrid edge? When there is less feature than cruiser? Memory seat function is not there in edge, but it is in cruiser. From the toyota app, we are not able to pre heat or pre cool the car before getting in. So why? Please help others to know this so that they are aware 👌

The AWD version of the RAV4 is still a fantastic SUV but Toyota do need to update the drivetrain a little bit with some sort of mechanical LSD in the rear differential and aggressive electronic torque vectoring using the brakes on the front wheels of the vehicle. The batteries used are also of a very old design with some more modern batteries needed. Obviously still an excellent vehicle with some room for growth. But the 2WD version is definitely overpriced these days with the competition in the segment extremely fierce. 😎🇦🇺👍

Owning a 2023 AWD Cruiser hybrid I can tell you it didn’t pick up the lane centring on the top lane due to the overlap in bitumen that created a line in the middle of the lane. Yes the engine can be noisy and the vehicle definitely needs more sound proofing. In saying that I’m at 9000k and averaged 5.3/100 over that time, it’s solid, Toyota reliable and great resale and looks boss, job done. 😂
