I'm glad this was discussed as I've been completely baffled at why "full-size" pickup trucks keep getting bigger when they were already the biggest consumer vehicles on the road. No one needed a bigger 1/2-ton truck, so why did they buy them? If you needed more power and towing capacity, you could simply buy a 3/4 or 1-ton truck instead of larger and larger "1/2-ton" trucks which have completely outgrown that classification. "Stupid" is exactly the right word, so thanks for that.

People buy full-size because the interiors are usually much nicer, the capabilities are much greater, they get almost the same fuel economy, and they don't cost a lot more. And everyone wants a V8, no matter how much they don't need it. It's a hard sell to get people to spend almost as much for less truck - no one would buy an 86 if it cost as much as a 911. The new Canyon and Tacoma seem to be bridging the interior quality, but they're still not as good as full size.

Makes me hope they release some Tiny Taco/Hilux variant that I could afford in 5-10 years. God knows of all the companies Yota can make a reliable turbo engine, easy to work on and inexpensive to buy parts, or even upgrade. Also, I like the blue 😊

I just sold my Tacoma last week. Great truck but, if you have a family or like to road trip the Tacoma is not big enough. Now that it's hybrid their is no under the seat storage. I Also switch to a F150 and the ride is SO MUCH better then my 2021 Tacoma and the F150 is one generation older. The F150 feels SOLID and also gets better gas mileage then the Tacoma I had. Why spend 40-58k on a mid size truck when you can find a full size in the range. I think most people would prefer to buy something that's over kill for towing and not need to push it hard then buying a smaller truck and always using it's max towing or close too it.

I have the same exact Tacoma as you see in the video. Got it almost three months ago. My gf and I took it from home in northern Michigan to Myrtle Beach and back a little over a month ago with no issues whatsoever.
@Richard-vf6mr6 ай бұрын
@@stevea3149 Again it’s a great truck but a full-size truck for less just makes more sense to me. as a family vehicle from my experience. Myself, wife and two kids. Kids have pillows and blankets. Video games their snack and drinks etc. Trying to go through a mountain area when you have a V6 that feels like a 4cylinder. The engine has been screaming for the last hour because the transmission hasn’t been updated for the last 10 years. Yes it is do-able. Is it a nice experience? not really compare to riding in a full-size truck.

I lived in the Dallas area for 17 years, and there are more full size pickups that only drive to corporate jobs then there are people who could actually make use of them. For those that don’t know, most of Texas is as flat as your kitchen table. And for some reason, most of them drive ridiculously aggressive…

You say you don't need a full size truck but the problem is pricing. When I was shopping for my truck in 2017, I bought a brand new F150 4x4 XLT, with every single option and a 5.0 for $42k ($53k otd). At the same time, a mid trim v6 Tacoma with Toyotas absurd 7% financing came out to $56k otd. So why? Why would I buy a midsized ancient v6 when for less money you can get a full size v8 with more options? Until midsized truck pricing is actually midsized and not full-sized, I and most other people will just buy full size.

Wouldn’t 4 cylinder turbo make more stress on the engine and transmission with heavy loads!? NA engines healthier in the long run.
@CarlosGutierrez-qw6pr Жыл бұрын
You're going to be saying that a lot since Toyota doesn't really have NA engines anymore
@kc510 Жыл бұрын
They can build it to handle the extra stress if money allows. No one wishes they had an N.A. diesel.
@aymanlockhartable Жыл бұрын
However, if you’re looking to use your truck for serious off-roading and heavy-duty hauling, then a 4-cylinder truck is usually not for you!
@caseysterger Жыл бұрын
Every diesel pickup and transport vehicle in the modern era is boosted - those being the preferred method for heavy towing. Adding a turbo fundamentally doesn’t change reliability or add stress. By forcing more air into the engine, it increases efficiency and helps it run at a variety of altitudes with significantly less power loss. Great efficiency means you get more done with less. Hope this helps 👍
