I went from an off road capable Tacoma to a Tundra Princess. The paint job alone was $1k, Nevermind it was 20k+ more than the Taco. It’s ridiculous to me people are testing 70k luxury trucks off road. They’re way too big and expensive for this hobby. Get a Jeep or a Tacoma which is a lot cheaper and designed for this stuff.

@@warriorwarrior6999I’ve had both and I can’t fathom taking my Tundra off road. It’s $60k+ and massive. Also the front chin clearance is terrible. The Tacoma was great fun on trails bc it’s a lot smaller, lighter, has a great turn radius, and about 20k less. Busting up a Taco makes sense. They’re made for this stuff. The tundra is a luxury truck that’s super comfortable and probably decent off road. The Tacoma was a legit outdoor toy.

While I really like this truck, it is definitely not on par for off-roading with the likes of the 1500 AT4X, ZR2, TRX, Raptor, or Powerwagon. Approach and departure angles really hold this truck back. Bumpers as well. I think the next update on this truck from the factory definitely needs to be front and rear bumpers (with tow hooks!). This truck is so Toyota. It's not class leading in anything, but does a bunch of things really well and is reliable (I guess we'll see as they accumulate more miles) to boot.

This shouldn’t surprise you but I drive a Toyota and I worked at a ford dealership a dodge dealership and a Chevy dealership over the last few years. It's nice he is willing to help, but it would be nice if others would help him out there on that course. As for the truck, even I would not have run it back there knowing what you know, knowing what we all have seen. Having to keep modifying that course to accommodate NEW rigs that nobody wants scratched and dented does not make sense to me. Use the CUV course for the NEW rigs to play in. Leave the back part for your guests that want a challenge.

Doesn't seem like that hard of a test considering you are scared to death over a small inconvenience. The truck would have been fine with that drop if you just powered out of it. If you want to really test the durability and off road capability you gotta drive it how everyone else would. Not 1mph creeping over everything. I suspect that look Adrea gave to the can we take your truck question, meant NO. Personally I think I would be very reluctant to take a borrowed 70K vehicle on anything that rough. My off road testing of something that expensive plus borrowed would probably lean abit toward the somewhat safe/mild side.

I would never pay $74k for a looooooong wheelbase truck that will get stuck. Rather pay $50k for a 4Runner instead.

Surely this is a joke. This truck has as much ground clearance as my old Chrysler Newport. The trucks (work or otherwise) of that period had so much more ground clearance and they didn’t weigh 3 tons.

The ZR2 isn't far from that price point. It's a give-and-take scenario, ZR2 has more ground clearance but tows way less and has less HP and Torque for towing. So the ZR2 is pretty singular in its usage, whereas with the Tundra you can get bigger tires, a lift, and still be tow king over the Chevy.

Actually they’re right in line with what the big change for their full size barges. They’re on par again with the options except for 1 thing. You can’t get a V-8 on the tundra anymore. I believe you can with Fords and GMs full sized trucks. I think ford’s FX4 package is nothing but some El Rancho shocks and a few extra skid plates. GM’s high end off roaders are using parts from 3rd party supplier AEV. At the end of the day a TRD off road tundra is far more capable then most people who buy one will ever put it through

The pro isn’t the most capable. If you look at the tundra specs manual a regular non hybrid trd has .5 more inches of ground clearance.
