I'm a longtime Triumph owner and fanboy. IMHO, Triumph took a hardcore middleweight sports bike and made it a manageable, affordable street sports bike. I am not in the demographic for that class of bike, but I can see why they did it.

I'm the demographic for this bike. I don't want to pay a lot up front because I wanna put in my own better parts later. This bike is perfect.

Agreed, though I do dig the ergonomics much more than the 675. I am interested to see this bike in 1-2 years, with all the mods that will be out for it (adjustable suspension, tuning, better brakes, etc) Id wish they do a 660R that comes with all the more premium stuff

The 600 supersport era was certainly a highlight in my biking career, a screaming 4 cylinder engine pushing out anywhere between 90 and 100hp was all you needed for maximum grin factor. At that time I was in my early thirties and a light weight easily capable of moulding myself around such machines and riding around all day long. It’s great to see manufacturers venturing somewhat back towards this class of machine enabling younger riders to experience such. Now I’m in my sixties I ride a RT 1250 which suits me very well however I still think back to those times pretending to be Colin Edward’s or Aaron Slight with much fondness. Thanks Scott 👍

I come from the era when my 69 BSA Rocket 3 put out less than 60 horsepower. It averaged over 131 mph for 500 miles at Daytona . All of my pre 75 Trident’s except for my 72 big bore put out less than 80 horsepower. It’s amazing the power output they are getting out of the small motors now!

Whenever you see 93.9hp, you can be sure that it is solely for A2 license conversion. Because it is illegal to convert everything higher than 94hp to A2.

I think the bike looks good and the legendary triple sounds fantastic. Haven't ridden one (I have been on a Tiger 900), but would like to. At 63 years old, I would contemplate adding one to my garage for quick sprints through the curvy canyons and mountains near my home in southern California.

I'm happy to see that Triumph hasn't abandoned the Daytona model. I'm hoping they bring out a 660R with some Ohlins suspension and Brembo brakes, because why not; have the option.

Just came back from a Daytona 660 test ride, and I have to say it's on my short list, and this is coming from a former Street Triple 765R owner. This bike is a bit friendlier, is just gorgeous, and very well put together. This engine and chassis you can enjoy a bit more on the street and push it a bit harder without getting too far outside of extralegal territory. Would love an RS version with a full compliment of Brembos front and back and an adjustable front fork. (I feel it would put it in Street Triple pricing territory though if they did that)

Great review Scott! I don’t mind the drone! It’s new tech giving another perspective & dimension! Just make sure it doesn’t attack you😉! Have you ridden the Suzuki GSX-8R? You liked the 8S!

Na, not yet, I am planning on it but the riding position of these bikes are getting to the point to where I just don't want to ride them at all, even for just a few hours and it changes my demeanour and out come of the video. So yes, I liked the 8S but that was an upright "naked" riding position, the 8R is a lot more leaned over like this one. So, I don't know maybe this summer when I'm running out of 2024 bikes to ride😒😢😊

You confirmed my first impression from the Bern motorcycle show: the seating position is not comfortable in the long run. I did an hour long test drive with the Suzuki GSX 8R and found that very good, though the suspension is a bit harsh. The same shop also had a Moto Guzzi V7 Corsa, and that's my bike after all!

Its a nice bike and good in the new softsport section. I like this category if you can only have 1 bike. My only issue with the Daytona is they forgot on sports bike you need to paint the rear of the bike also. In Black its ok, but in White it stands out so bad. Also the dash is very outdated on a 2024 bike. Nice review.

I didn't understand this bike as soon as it came out. 660 powertrain, non-adjustable fork, Trident chassis basis... This model makes more sense to me if it was a fully faired version of the Street Triple RS, OR, they made a faired version of the Trident and title it as such. This is just an insult to the Daytona nameplate to make sales. You're honestly better off with a Honda CBR650R because you get Honda reliability, an extra cylinder, and in my opinion, a cooler bike. That being said, a Street Triple RS is God-tier performance for it's class

The Kawasaki Ninja is available in 125cc 250cc 300cc 400cc 600cc 636cc 1000cc, I think Triumph deserve some credit for not just cutting into new territory but actually giving a respectable option in the middleweight road sport class that doesn't require bike yoga and the name implies the bloodline which the bike does portray via it's obvious DNA styling cues and refined mechanics

I feel like this is Triumph’s turn to get what Yamaha received with the R7 launch. Just as “older” riders knew the original YZFR7 and saw the new R7 as a poor rebirth of the name, the same will be said of the Daytonas long gone and reborn. Alternatively, “newer” riders who may have never experienced the original Daytona may find familiarity with the name alone may love it for what it is, same as current R7 riders. IMO it’s a bit of a miss, I’m also not the target market as my current hunt is for a R1200/1250RS, but newer riders might find exactly what they’re looking for

I get why Triumph did what they did on this bike. I just wouldve been more creative and named it something other than a daytona. As they were hoping to get both new riders and legacy daytona fans. It unfortunately in its current form will just please newer riders imo. That all said im not into sports bikes. Ive got mainly classics and a ducati monster.

Yea nobody does trackdays… its like maybe %5 of the riders and its very very occasional. Buying a bike to do trackday once every couple months is not feasible. Every year, world getting more crowded but roads are not getting bigger, also speed limits not increasing either… and dont forget that with technology its getting easier to get tickets and fines. Motorcycle evolution has its own bell curve… the aim was to create more power with less weight at first but seems like we passed that phase because its getting meaningless, you cant ride a h2turbo on a public road and push to the limits (legally). So now instead of pushing for more power, brands are pusher for more users with more manageable vehicles. For that money, that is still a weaponlile vehicle…

@@NothingToProve ofcourse you would know a lot of guys... but what percentage do they represent in the entire group of bike owners? ıf it was too high, brands would know it by market research and plan their production accordingly.
