Duzer, thanks for that. I can so relate, at 92 years facing me in February, I've had a tough year. From 15 miles most days, I'm getting 10 and not most days. I've lost my motivation and trying to get it back. A hip replacement (revision) has not helped. So, working on motivation, Cheers and best you sir for better 2025.

I'll be 73 in February and facing a total knee replacement that I have been putting off until I can hardly walk. But, I can bike...not great distances, but just riding a hour or two (at less than 1WPK) brings me great joy. Biking adventure stories and hearing about other riders facing a variety of challenges fuels me with inspiration. Bravo, Duzer community!

I agree. Time and time again, Ryan has showed us that there is more good in this world than what the trolls in news, social media, and politics would have us believe. If you keep tuning into the trolls, yes, you will keep living in paralyzing fear, thinking that danger is lurking around every corner. Ryan’s “get out there” mantra has inspired so many of us. When you really do get out there and speak to everyday Americans, and set aside the weight of the ruck sack within our minds, you realize this country still has a lot of joy and love to offer. Ragbrai being a great example.

I’ve had some reverses this year myself, health wise and work. I haven’t been watching as many of your videos because l’ve been giving up on the idea that I could ever go on a bike adventure and they just made me feel bad. However, today, I went out bicycling with my daughter who is amazing and normally leaves me in the dust, she’s so fast she scares the squirrels!, and then runs me and my ebike into the ground! Today, I kept up and we did 21.6 miles which is a personal best for me. So let’s hope 2025 is better for everyone!

On day 6 at RAGBRAI LI, I was frustrated because I struggled a lot that day, but when I made it to camp, Connor walked up to me and asked how my day went. I was telling him how I struggled and the sustained headwinds were kicking my ass. Then Connor said, "But you finished the ride?" Me: "Yes" Thats when I realized the ride didn't go as planned for me, but I still accomplished something I've never done before that day, I biked 85 miles in a single day. You also reminded me of that as well. :) 2024 wasn't perfect for me either, but I accomplished things I've never done before. Happy New Year, Ryan!

Started an adventure that I've been wanting to do for many years and it blew my expectations away. I'm taking American Sign Language and not only did I learn, but I learned about myself and have more skill to connect with my community. I'm excited to continue this adventure and connecting with more people who speak with their hands and some, like me, that hear differently or not with their ears. Thanks for encouraging and having realistic goals that we can share with you.

We love you for your authenticity and your kind spirit. Thank you for always giving us honesty. You had a major breakup about a year ago. I’m sure there are moments when you really miss the good times and the sense of possibilities you had in the beginning of your relationship with Amelia. My heart goes out to both of you. It seemed to me that the new scenery in FL genuinely excited you. I really loved seeing it too! I wondered whether there’s a bike route along the Oregon Trail. One thing I”d love to see is you and Jon and Mira join up with “Dan Cycles the World”. He’s south of Mexico now. In Mexico, he encountered a stray dog that he really should have kept. He rehomed it, but I want him to see from Jon that it’s possible to keep it. I’m curious about the tail trail system in South Dakota’s Black Hills. I worked in the forest there in my 20’snand there is something about that country. I’ve been thinking about rail trails in BC. Hey! In October or something when MT DOT closes the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National Park, they let cyclists ride to the summit the day after. If I had the physical ability, I’d really want to do that. My knees and wrists have told me not to even think about it. The Lost Coast Road in California could be great. There’s a bike trail across Washington State that has a lot of diversity, from rain forest to mountains, to desert. Oregon has some interesting terrain too. It’s always great to see you in the desert in the middle of winter when I haven’t seen the sun in weeks. Maybe there’s more to explore in Death Valley. But I really loved it when you cycled through Navajoland. I’ve loved your trips through Canyonlands and wondered what opportunities other national parks and monuments hold. I loved the trip from Durango to Moab too! Great diversity in landscape in that one too. It’s fun to see you make friends with all walks of life wherever you go. We all lose our mojo from time to time. When I was 45, I quit my job and moved to Baja for a couple winters. It was so lovely. Sometimes a person has to shake things up. And sometimes a person has to do the opposite. That’s where I’m at now- putting my head down and plowing through it. Hey! I drove to Big Bend National Park in TX last year via Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe National Park. I fell deeply in love with ocotillo and stars. The road GNP to BBNP was scenic with sparse traffic. Big Bend State Park is right next door. Yes! Go explore that region this winter or spring! There’s even a hot spring in the river. I also had one of the most divine swims of my life in the Rio Grande just down river maybe a mile if that at a swimming hole my canoe guide stopped us at. I felt like a happy little otter, completely joyful deep in my heart. I wanted to swim there forever. I did the thing where I walked to Mexico from the national park and rode a horse to the town there (Boquillas?) and didn’t really like it. Is there bike packing to be done in Hawaii? Haleakala? Thailand? Indonesia? New Zealand or Australia? Also, that’s not grey hair- it’s silver, and it’s gorgeous!

Ryan, you have been a major inspiration for me with my biking. So far, I've done two biking trips inspired by your videos. I did my first bike tour back in 2021, biking 111km from Halifax (Nova Scotia) to Lunenburg. Just this past May, I did my first bikepacking tour from Halifax to Graves Island. I started my own amateur KZbin channel (this very profile) and recently published my first touring video about my Lunenburg trip. If you have time, I'd love for you to watch it and give your thoughts. This year, I'm hoping to do some more bikepacking tours. A major one I'm considering is biking across Prince Edward Island. I'm not sure if I'll be able to do that yet, both physically or financially, but we'll see. Thank you so much for your video and your continuing inspiration.

It won't be easy to dig out from decades of greed, corruption, misfeasance and malfeasance. And the ill deeds done will not be forgotten - they will be investigated and analyzed thoroughly. Enjoy the path when it is wide with good shoulders. That path will become a knife edge soon enough for all of us. Chin up and keep moving forward brother. Maybe try a different type of adventure. I'm 78 and I've gotten into ruts. For example, I went from May, 2023 to May of 2024 biking only 20 miles and that was in April of 2024. The year before I did 4000 miles. Instead, I concentrated on my other love, sailing. I belong to two adventure groups in Florida, Water Tribe and West Coast Trailer Sailor Squadron. Both do week long sailing, camping trips. For example, I'm leaving today for a four day sailing, camping trip in Ten Thousand Islands (the Everglades) with about 10 other WCTSS sailors. Then in March, I'm doing the Everglades Challenge with the Water Tribe, which is a 300 mile race/challenge from Tampa bay to Key Largo, FL with about 75 other sailors or kayakers. Ryan, do you want to learn to sail, contact me.

It was a bummer, but I still got in some great adventures. On a side note, if you don't have plans for March, check out Midsouth. I went with 15 friends this year, and the energy there is AMAZING. We are all headed back again this year, but riding Single Speeds so we can chill and enjoy it even more.

Hi, Ryan! My wife and I think your are an awesome human being. We are 50 and 52 and I totally get what you're dealing with as far as learning you now have some physical limitations. It's a hard pill to swallow at first BUT it doesn't stop our running, hiking or biking adventures. We might not go as far as we used to (or as fast haha) but we still go often and we can still push ourselves so we continue to get that satisfaction we need and crave. I think you should find John and Mira and do some riding with them. Or maybe you should bring back Running With Ryan!! As someone who trail runs mostly, I absolutely loved that you ran in beautiful places and interviewed your guest during the run. Epic stuff, really! And it doesn't have to be Courtney Dauwalter (met her at Hardrock this year- WOW!) but it could be a local track star or perhaps someone who formed a local running group. Heck, I even love your local adventures in CO. You are a CREATOR through and through. Wishing you the best in 2025! Can't wait to see what you dream up. Cheers!

Ryan, thanks for all you do for the cycling community. Not every ride or every year will be epic. We all need to be grateful for everyday pleasures and continue to strive for our bigger goals. If there is joy in the small things thank there will be great joy in the big picture. One of my small goals was to run into you out on a ride and that was accomplished just by good happenstance. Have a Happy New Year and I look forward to following your 2025 adventures.🚴

Hey Ryan, my wife Sue and I met you at RAGBRAI L. We just finished watching your most recent video about kindness and loved it. I wanted to share that my wife, on Christmas Eve, made her famous scones and shared them door to door with 6 of our neighbors! Thank you for your videos and for inspiring us all to not just be active but to spread kindness in the process!

Ryan, I want you to know that you’ve been a big inspiration to me. Watching you navigate your struggles-whether it’s getting knocked down and finding the strength to get back up, or coming to terms with the reality of a situation and making the tough call to step back-has been truly impactful. I deeply admire you as a KZbinr, and your journey has had a meaningful influence on my own.

Ryan. Met you at Ragbrai. On my way home from Florida C2C ride. Never saw the Florida sunshine, just rain. Being 64 , riding in rain all day gets harder but I love the adventure. We count on you.. keep it up.😮

That part about the most important thing in life being other people, community, relationships--I used to think that was just something people said. Like a platitude. Now, at about Ryan's age, I realize that it's 100% correct. All my accomplishments and adventures don't mean squat if there's no one to share them with, or connect with them over. I'm like a lot of males--I have a lousy social network. In 2025 I'm going to do everything in my power to change that. No more using, "Oh, I'm an introvert" as an excuse. Thanks, Ryan. I had some physical setbacks this year too, but I'm NOT going to stop moving.

Hey Ryan I am wishing you all the best for 2025! Your videos have truly inspired me, and because of that, I’m planning a bike adventure this summer. I hope this year brings you lots of fun, great people, and positive vibes. Keep doing what you're doing-you’re making a real difference! Krys - Vancouver BC

Hey Brother! You had a great year! It's not about the so-called wins, it's about doing what you love to do and letting us in on the experience. In 2025 you need to take the pressure off and shoot videos when you are ready to have fun! Don't let the imaginary expectations of your audience get in your head! In truth, your audience will be here for you whenever you feel the inspiration to post! God Bless you my friend!

You're definitely not alone on this one, something and I can't identify what has been off this year. I have people close to me who say the same, I couldn't get into the holidays this year and can't answer why. Maybe it's an age thing (I'm 45 in 2025) or a few personal things going on but it's just there. I hope things start turning around for you Duzer, I hope it does for everyone else who is feeling this way too. You've inspired so many people over the years, and I hope those Colorado mountain views keep inspiring you. Best wishes to you, your family and friends in 2025 Duzer!
