Dawn and Ben I had found your channel and binge watched all your videos and subscribed earlier this summer. I let you know then that it helped me distract me from my troubles. My dad, who was in a nursing home with Parkinson's for 2 years, had started to decline. He passed away on the 23 of August so I empathize with you. So thank you and Hope you have a lovely Christmas.

It's been a hard year, all round. We have battled health issues. Hubby tried to die on me twice, this year. The mud and constant rain have been miserable. Please God, next year will be better for all of us. *Hugs Tight

Guys, don't apologise. Sometimes life sucks. You've suffered major losses. You need time to grieve, to mourn, think about your losses. That takes time. So take your time. But most of all you are genuine, real, not orchestrated. We viewers will be there, stick to you both. Don't be ashamed for being a human being with real feelings.

The videos you post have turned into my very own special treat on Sundays and I enjoy our "visits" via YT. No apologies or justification needed, thank you. We like you and are in here till the finish. If there is one. Hopefully not. Have a really good Christmas and I know everyone would join me in saying "Have a wonderful new year!"

Aw thanks for doing the video Ben and Dawn. It was clearly difficult for you (especially Ben), but you are so blessed having each other for support. I do feel like I was sitting at your table with you guys tonight! In your wonderful cosy home. Remember, anyone can have a house, a flash house full of top of the range items, but that doesn’t make it a home. What you have is a home, full of love, hard work and respect. I applaud you both for your sheer grit and determination to achieve what you have already. I know you will continue to create your lovely home next year. Thank you both for welcoming us KZbinrs into your lives. Total respect for you both 🤩

What lovely comments Ali (I am guessing Ali) thank you. It is nice to know people feel like you are with us as we chat and explain what we are doing or have done. You are right with a house not always being a home. Dawn thought she always wanted a new build house and in 2019 we ended up renting one. It was 18 months old when we moved in. It was super clean, everything was new but it never felt like home. Our two rentals before that were our home. A very old 2 bed cottage back in 2002 and then a 60's build in 2005 - 2019. Even here, we sat in the kitchen July 2023 with the old tatty table that was already here with nothing else around us except a camping stove and washing up bowl and we both said how it just felt right, it felt like home. As time has passed we have done the massive jobs, but it is sometimes the small ones, like restoring the fire surround, getting the house warm, the new (old) front door, it feels more and more like exactly what we both dreamed of and aim towards. Our Home. Thank you so much. Happy new year to you :-)

I’m more skint than I’ve ever been as an adult, I totally get it. I’ve never given money like this before, but I love you guys and wanted to represent the silent poor masses who are here for in spirit all the way - I especially love Dawn in her eight holes doing the liming. I think we’re the same era - except as a young adult my Docs were on the streets of Minneapolis. You’re living a dream and inspiring me to dream of what can be possible. We have an Airbnb and it’s what’s keeping us afloat - I’d highly recommend trying to build a tiny house or something in your back garden - you could crowd fund for it or for materials. I’d totally contribute what I could and come to stay. 😊 Merry Christmas from Madison, WI, USA. As for being stuck, watching you keep going in relatively tedious pursuits inspires me immensely. I’m still recovering from losses that started 15 years ago and you guys are helping me move forward. I haven’t commented in part because I can’t contribute monetarily at all, but your are my favorite of the reno vlogs. Mainly, because you don’t pretend and because I think we would absolutely be friends in real life. ❤️ Keep hanging on. Every little bit moves you forward. You guys are living in the house and are warm and dry - which puts you way ahead of some of the others, plus you aren’t using your house as an outer shell around a new build. Anyway, I’m just babbling at this point, but don’t ever change. Seriously. Merry Christmas!
@thecornerhouseproject
@thecornerhouseproject 19 күн бұрын
Thank you so much, that truly means so much to us especially with you being skint too. It’s hard going at times isn’t it? We’ve lived it many times throughout our life together so it’s something we are pretty used to by now lol. Don’t worry about the babbling because we are huge fans of babbling on ourselves! 😂 Ooh yes, I love my Docs. I always wanted them when I was younger but it took me until about 40 for my first pair and now 12 years later I have 4 pairs! Kill your feet breaking them in but worth it! Hahaha. I’m glad we inspire you and we pinch ourselves with how lucky we are just to be doing this even with it not being the easiest at times. It’s still the best move we ever made. Ahh yes we lived in a new build rented house before this one and a new build is most definitely not what we are aiming for. We bought it for its beauty and we just plan to give it some tlc rather than change it drastically. It would feel wrong with new build looks inside. Thanks again for your kind gift and if we could refund your accidental double press we would love to but KZbin doesn’t give a way of doing it unfortunately. Sorry ♥️

Ben and Dawn, you never need to explain why The Corner House Project halts or speeds ahead. I enjoy watching all the tasks there are to rebuilding and maintaining this lovely old property and house, whether it's filling the bird feeders or putting in new upstairs joists and noggins (remember us joking about your noggins Ben?) Several of the channels I watch are not rich folks, in fact, to be honest, I couldn't relate to a channel with people who have an endless flow of cash. I love the idea of regular, everyday people buying up these old places, putting all their love into them, for as long as it takes, to make them a "home" again. Part of the beauty of you guys is that you're so relatable and real. In the short time you've had this house, you've done so much to it - be proud. You guys have had a rough few months and I pray your strength continues, 2025 WILL be better. Ben, once again as you speak about your dad, I get the impression that you really admired and respected him. Hold onto that gift, believe me, not everyone says the word "Dad" with such affection. Have a tremendous Christmas and all the very best in 2025. Love to the furballs!

Be proud of what you have accomplished despite the odds. I feel you are my friends that I spend Sunday mornings with, not just entertainment. Sending you hugs during this difficult holiday season. "and we wish we could make it easier for you"....... And we wish we could let you know just how much everyone's comments do help and make things easier. This video, although I broke half way through, was to everyone, like you, to thank you for sticking with us no matter what. We predicted how many views it would get and those are from people who watch for everything we do and not just one part of the renovation. It is really hard to type and put into words but hopefully you get my drift. It is our thank you to you, and your comments really do make it easier. Enough waffle..... Happy New Year Meredy and thank you so much :-)

Happy Christmas Dawn and Ben. Pëease remember that life gets in the way while we are making other plans. Your dad's passing and your mums illness are more important than plans you had made so do not apologise for that delay. Remember you are builing a life which includes the house. The house supports your life not the other way round. You are still here after all that has happened and that is a great achievement.

Hello Ben and Dawn. What you're experiencing is called life. It happens to all of us, in one form or another, I can tell you that you are doing great with it. Just do what you can do, when you feel that you can do it. You're only working on your own timetable. Things will turn around for you. There will be times of mad activity and then other times where it's not so frantic. Keep well, we're here with you.

What is so lovely about your videos is, you are two ordinary people who are following their dream. I am 76 and sadly though I bourght an old property some years ago and have done quite a bit of DIY myself, it sometimes needs another to help. Death in the family is hard. By the time I was 30 both my parents had died of cancer. So keep on going, be your natural selves and i look forward to what you do in the coming year. God bless you both.

I watch a lot of these reno videos. Ive noticed that many of your audience are older, stuck at home, disabled, etc and are unable to travel. One of the ways you can keep connecting to your viewers and keep the YT money coming is to occasionally do a quick video of a trip to a local site of interest, a walk through the fields, a market, etc. I live in the midwest US and would love to see the world through your lens occasionally. What you see as ordinary to us can be quite interesting. You don't have to always swing a hammer or heft a stone. I hope your 2025 is a better year for you!

Ben and Dawn you have absolutely nothing to apologise for, you have done so much outside this year, all work that needed doing and unless you have 48 hours in a day there is no way on earth that you can renovate the house as well as all the work you have done outside and my goodness you worked in the most awful weather, although I have no right I am so very proud of you both. The second half of the year was an extremely hard year for you both, losing someone you love hurts and until others experience that kind of loss it is hard to understand but it hurts physically as well as mentally, I still suffer over the loss of my Dad, he died on the 19th December 1996 age 58, I hide on the 19th but I continue with Christmas because he loved Christmas and I feel he is closer with me every year, it will be harder at this time of year and it is much better for you to let your emotions out otherwise it will eat you up over time, I cried with you Ben ❤ Also thank you for introducing your lovely mum to us, I hope all of your family have the best Christmas possible and a much better 2025. I am a devoted subscriber and I thank Billy for putting your channel link in one of his videos and I love all of your videos and I look forward all week to the new video being put up. As we sit here and start replying, we wonder how we can reply with such kind words that our comments send to us each and every week. I must admit I wasn't ready for my Dad to pass away when he did but because he saved it until his birthday we decided we would call the 12th August "Dad's Day" so we get to celebrate his birthday and not be sad (we will see how the not being sad goes next year haha) We want you to know that you are often mentioned in our house Kim with endearment and when I said we are talking to you, we really are. At my age I can no longer do the things you all do but I can enjoy watching you accomplish the things you do. I know if y’all set those up we your viewers would gladly contribute to them. Maybe something to consider. It would make us feel like we are even more a part of your journey. Dear Ben and Dawn, You shouldn't be apologising, you should be proud of what you've achieved so far. It's so easy to focus on what you haven't achieved instead of acknowledging all those "minor" renovation challenges you have overcome in the last year. I would guess that almost every day you are faced with some new task that's too small to put into a KZbin video, but these tasks invariably cost a few € and take an hour or so get done. There's nothing I can say to ease the personal pain you must be feeling, but I can say that your courage helps inspire me with my renovation project and (based on other comments I have read) many others around the world. I wish you all the best for 2025! Rich

The respect you both have for each other is so special to see, I wish you a Merry Christmas full of all the good things in life. From the first moment you walked into the house, to seeing you there with coffee and Chrissy decorations what a journey and adventure we are on. x

You have to put yourselves first now; the shock of bereavement can never be underestimated and comes in seemingly never-ending waves. You've done so much in such a short time and you've had so much to cope with. May I wish you a Merry Christmas and I hope that 2025 brings you all the love and luck you could wish for. God Bless you and carry you through bereavement, I hope your hearts heal soon. xx

Family should always come first. Please don't feel that you have to keep us entertained. It is understandable that you want to get on with the remodeling for yourselves and for the money KZbin brings in. But anyone who might complain has never rehabbed an old house and/or has no compassion. You two bring such calm and peace to your videos one stone, one small project at a time. It is a joy to be able to hang out with you. Blessings to you and yours, and Happy Christmas from SW Florida.

You are such lovely, warm and REAL people. As a single Mom with a tight budget I get your struggles. You make do with what you have and celebrate the small wins. Have a wonderful Christmas. May the new year bring you lots of good energy, health for your family and friends, good progress on your renovation and a big Lottery win.

Yes, we agree... the small wins are sometimes the largest. With cold weather coming, the "simple" job of restoring and putting in the two extra stoves is a massive win for us and has changed the feel of the house completely.... except our bedroom haha. We hope you had a lovely Christmas I U, and hope you have a very happy new year and a BIG lottery win for you too :-)

IT DOES NOT LOOK GRIM!!!! It looks cozy and lived in and warm and full of love. 🏠 I am so, so sorry to hear about your family's loss of Mark and Carol, as well as Ben's dear Dad. And now to hear your dear Mum was ill as well. And then the car needed work, and you were both ill...I want to gather you both in my arms and just rock you. 💔 You kind of *have* done something huge. Removing that tree grown into the outbuilding, and doing all that mortaring and stabilizing while everything in your world was falling apart was heroic. The property looks great -it isn't dangerous! You have a roof, heat, water the kids and the kitties, the birds. And each other. Really, why else are you doing all of this? I'm pretty certain that there are plenty of us, including me, who like watching the people with $$$ get along with their projects, but most of us are like you and just doing what we can with what we have. We can relate to *you* and your brave dream. As long as you have some seeds you can do wonders in the garden, if nothing else. Food and beauty. We will watch that and be happy if you are happy. Next year has to be better - for all of us. Don't give up on your dreams, even if they take a bit longer. We won't give up on you. 💖

We want more of anything 😂. Christmas always makes loss really hard, trust me I know only too well. I don't know if you believe in a higher power and even if don't, pop into a church and light a remembrance candle to those who are not with you, it will give you a sense of peace as it's something you can do for them. Having witnessed my brother-in-law renovating and extending my parents old home for three years - whilst living with my sister and two kids in a caravan in the back garden - I know how tough it is. Keep strong, but remember to take breaks from time to time to recover and take stock. Astonishing work.

Hi Cindy. Thank you so much for such lovely comments. With the new year things will be better, the days will be getting longer, the trees will wake up and we will be in the mood for getting things done. Having so many lovely commenters and channel members certainly help during our sad times and we are more than happy to share our goings on each week. The house is, generally, lovely and warm, sometimes too warm, even for me. It feels dryer and more comfortable and we really can't wait to carry on after Christmas and the new year. Have a lovely Christmas Cindy and thank you so much for being one of our channel members xxx

I love watching your vlogs they are honest and show the good, the bad and the downright ugly, you two are probably the most down to earth lovely couple to watch, and the cake from Lucas to his mum had me in floods of tears, such a lovely personal moment. Ben you come across as a diamond geezer, you care about your family and you've had a rough few months, i'd like to tell you it gets easier and it does, but, there will always be a moment, a song, a tv show, a joke that reminds you of those that have left your mortal plane, but they are still in your heart, hold them close. Have a Great Christmas and a Better New Year and take your time enjoy the process of bringing a dilapidated old ruin back to life, for your family. Best Wishes to you all, and see you next Sunday x P.S. you can't beat a good cry Ben

Ben and Dawn, keep being you. You both need to let in that people watch because of who you are, so lovable and worthy of support. Love you both sitting holding hands at the table, its like Im visiting neighbours. Its obvious that you're winging it and that's how most of us do such renos and live our lives. People are willing to support you both more than you think, might be time to give us some ways to do so. That birdhouse with the face on it, would make a great etching Ed, you could sell just the etching and let people build a birdhouse from there. The fact that you are feeding birds, especially sunflower seeds, tells us where your priorities/lifestyle are, I know I feed birds as well and it adds up. Please check out Seán Ronayne | Irish Wildlife Sounds he's amazing and saving Irish birds wholeheartedly. So its time to open to receiving more than enough and that can be challenging but doable :) My last suggestion is focus on a project, let us know what supplies you need and go from there.

Sharon, your comments are always so kind and we always look forwards to reading them, you always have nice suggestions and we feel we know you as we hope you feel you know us. Dawn was only saying this morning how lovely it is to have all of the birds back again. We can see them through the kitchen window and are just above them from the bedroom window, we could watch them for house. You may have noticed we aren't the best for asking for help but will consider a wish list or Patreon in the future. One comment suggested a go fund me for a water well, this would mean no more worrying and constantly watching the water levels. So we that may happen in the future. Thank you so much Sharon for always being with us and for being not only a channel member, but our first and longest channel member. Have a lovely Christmas xxx

Hi Ben and Dawn. I look forward to Sundays, I don't mind if it's a chat, a bit of DIY or building a wall. I enjoy it all. The two of you are just like the rest of us who watch your videos. We are just getting on with life and dealing with what it brings to our door. We'll keep watching. I hope you are happy you came to Ireland because we are glad to have you here. I know money can be tight but having enough to pay the bills and put food on the table will do for now and hopefully the New Year will bring something new and welcome. I've just watched this weeks video and am now going to have my tea. I'm going to put the video on again, put it on mute and let it run fully. I don't know if that helps with youtube. I'll give it a go anyway. I'd like to wish you and your family a lovely Christmas and a safe, healthy and happy New Year.

Hi Dawn and Ben I was very sad to hear what you have both been coping with. Grief is exhausting and comes back and hits you again and again in huge waves. It is a process you just have to grit your teeth and live through but you will come out the other side. Once Spring has started to come into your garden and your trees are flowering again you will feel stronger and ready to press on. You might even feel like getting back up that ladder Ben and adjusting that plastic guttering! But in the meantime rest and enjoy a cosy Christmas in your lovely home knowing that there are many of us wishing you well. Happy Christmas to you both and Lukas from Hampshire UK

Wow- you guys are just sharing yourselves along what is a typical ‘tough life’ journey that so many of us go through! For those others of us who ARE going through really tough times, it is just lovely to be able to be invited in to the home and life of someone else on the other side of the world, who is doing life just like us! We feel for you and feel with you that sense of just out of the blue being bowled over by sudden sadness and tragedy, and then tumbled along with one after another shock or challenge! For us, being able to shift our focus off ourselves and onto your journey, it is encouraging as well as comforting to know we can be resilient and survive no matter what is tossed at you. We hope that maybe now you have sat down to share this it will be encouraging and comforting to hear back, that we love you and we DO feel like you are talking to us- your world wide family! So from Australia, Hugs and prayers🥰🙏🏻 for you to find peace and comfort in your love for each other and your family, as you snuggle down to celebrate Christmas and hope for a better and brighter New Year! The house, after all, whether it is finished or not, is your beautiful home, and all those tasks ahead will be even the more joyous to turn back to, in their own time, as a means of healing and restoration of yourselves. So rest and relax, we are not going anywhere! ❤❤❤❤

The tears are because we have so many lovely watchers who can see a video like this one and put all of our feelings into words. A simple thank you on camera doesn't portray how we feel about you all and can also seem cheesy and not heart felt. You are no longer living in a tent! You did quite a lot more than you think. The main thing is taking care of family and you have had your share of trials this past year. Holiday's can be so hard for so many. Mum is in the hospital since Wednesday night and won't be home for Christmas. She was much better yesterday, I am feeling wore out after spending the most of the past 4 days with her (I've got the chills from running back and forth in the freezing cold and a bit of sore throat). Yesterday she was doing much better so I have stayed home today (I will probably go see her later if I start feeling better, I can go at any time, no set visitation hours for me). We still don't know 100% what is wrong so they are running tests and checking her medications and treating her for infection. The Doctors have said they are keeping her until they can figure out what is wrong. All our love from our family to yours. Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas!

It helps me that you are doing your renovation on a shoestring. I also do my improvements in the same way. Life gets in the way and you have to live with the renovation being not so far along as you expected (or hoped). But for me that makes things real and that is why I watch you. Have a great Christmas and wishing you all you wish yourselves in 2025.

My heart goes out to you Ben, it really does. Grief and loss can have a massive impact in many ways, and it can affect you in ways you'd never think of. For different reasons, I've been affected similarly (2016 was our A.H.), and it broke me just over a year ago. Fortunately, like you, I have the support of a loving wife and family. Don't be afraid of seeking help from the medical profession, and seeing a therapist can make a huge difference - I'm a 50+ engineer, used to the practical with no time for nonsense, but I'll say it again - seek help if you need it, it WILL help. What has kept me here is you and Dawn, you are both genuine people with a dream that you are sharing with us all. You share your ups and downs in your renovations, and I think the majority of regular viewers understand the pace. Please don't compare yourselves to others, we're all here because of you two and the way you are approaching this whole project. Merry Christmas to you both, lets say bugger off 2024 and lets hope next year is a good one!

Stay strong, my heart goes out to you both. So nice to see the love between you. I love your truthfulness and normality. The house looks great, who cares about lose plaster. May you have a relaxing Christmas and a happier and productive new year. May all your geese be swans.

Merry Christmas! I'm so glad to be part of your story. I am glad you took the time to do what you needed to do for your family. I'm sorry for your losses. I enjoy your channel and believe your content is better when you actually take the time to take care of what you need to when it comes up. You have done great!

Aw Ben my heart goes out to you. It’s not easy losing the people you love. We all care about you both. You are only human at the end of the day. Take time to process your grief, we will understand.😊❤❤❤Dawn you are a pillar of strength to Ben, it’s lovely to see you comforting him. Your love shines through the lens. ❤❤❤

I watched this earlier and made comments, but this thumbnail popped up. Nothing went wrong. Life and family demanded your time, both of you. Give yourselves pats on the back for surviving and carrying on. Please have a pleasant holiday season. Enjoy each other.

No, not wrong as such, just slow to what we had hoped for 2024. 2025 will be a good year with good progress.... they are hopes anyway. Let's see how it goes one job at a time. Thank you again for becoming a channel member and have a lovely Christmas x

Hope you felt the massive group hug that most of us were sending you. I have loved watching you guys (as you know). I think I would watch you watching paint dry :) Have a blessed Christmas and New Year xx

Hi Tracy. Although we don't always answer the comments quickly, we always read them as they come in and I don't think massive hug covers it really. You think I cried in the video? That was nothing to what I was like when your comments were coming in. The video, as we said, was a huge thank you for those who we knew would watch no matter what it was about and everyone who are still watching, people like you. We were truly overwhelmed with the size of the hug and love all of you show us. So again, Thank you so much. Happy new year to you and your family :-)

Jayling, thank you so much for becoming a channel member, not happy to just do that, you bought us coffee and gave us Super Thanks too, thank you so much indeed. The videos on your channel are lovely and I love how the ISS is just passing across without a mention. I have had my whole family in the UK outside at night looking at the ISS whilst all on WhatsApp getting excited that we saw it. I can't say why, but I just love seeing it when it passes over. Have a lovely Christmas in Ohio and we hope your weather is kind. Thank you again :-)

I started watching your channel because you were renovating a cottage, I continue to watch your channel because of who you are. Your genuine nature does come across and I enjoy watching whatever the two of you are up to. I really enjoyed watching everything you’ve done no matter how big or small of a project. The gable end getting rebuilt was fun to watch and will look forward to seeing more repair work, by the way you’re very good at it. I’m so sorry your family went through so much this year so glad you didn’t have the added pressure of a grant that would have made things so much worse. I look forward to seeing what the two of you are up to each week but I’m not watching to see how “fast” you get something done and could care less. I watch because I’m rooting for you to get your house done whenever that is and grateful you let me come along and because I enjoy your videos. Thank you both ❤

I had honestly not noticed a downturn in productivity. You’ve done amazingly well to do what you have. I’ve culled a few KZbinrs from my list recently but it definitely wouldn’t be you! I’m sure the new year and spring time will refresh you and reframe everything. We all have summer and longer days to look forward to now. Merry Xmas to you both I hope it’s a cosy one.
