The most important thing is the fun you have with the MT09. 99% of riders won't compete in a race and this bike is perfect for average riding. Minimal weight, enough power, best sound and it handles like a 250 crosser. THE sweet spot at an affordable price. I test rode it today and immediatly ordered the SP version, because the suspension is ok, but not premium. I traded in my 2022 Hayabusa and the 120 hp from the mt09 standard version felt more fun and engaging than the 190 hp of my bike. And, being from Germany, I actually can do 190 mph on my bike legally.

You should actually add the 790 Duke aswell. Considering the pricejump from the 790 to 990, is it worth it? I have the 790 and for me, that's enough power for the street. But yes, I would love such a comparison film.

Quality presentation on this channel again - nice work Greg! ....and I have one of these in the garage at the moment (my first video isn't published until June the 5th though - shameless plug there) and - spoiler alert - I agree with pretty much everything you said. The bike is very impressive and one of the best fun machines I've ridden in a long time....doesn't look quite as nice as a Street Triple IMO but I think it might pip it on the fun factor....as you say, one for the short list for sure!

I test road one maybe three years ago. and also an XSR a little over one year ago. and I liked the light feeling of the bike when going through the city. but on the open road I didn't like how light the front end felt. to me I equate the light front wheel with feeling unstable. I always felt like at anytime the front end was going to just hover above the road. you just don't get the feedback I want to have from the front end of the bike. I know they have changed the ergonomics a little bit and made it more of a lean to the bars. which should put a little bit more of your weight on the front end of the bike. I test road a Triumph Street Triple Rs around the same time as the MTo9. and the Triumph felt more planted to me. anyway I ended up buying a Ducati 939 Supersport. which feels planted to the ground. and I really love. and I appreciate having a fairing even if it's not that big. on the Mto9 I felt like I was being hammered by the wind all the time.

I actually LIKE that exhaust if it was painted black. For me the tucked and tidy look is unique and preferable on these bikes. I'd just want it painted black. There is an aftermarket exhaust for the last gen that mostly keep the tucked and covert look but was fancier.

Always follow your videos etc with agreeable consensus. However we are not singing the same song where the MT09 is involved. I am certainly not without prejudice as I own 2022 MT09. I am an old fart at 78 years and started riding in 1956. I feel the Brit bikes of the early 60s were probably the best looking bikes ever made. So I was surprised when the MT09’s looks finely won me over. Part of this I am sure is totally attributed to overall performance of the bike. I won’t be trading for a 2024 as my 22 after my few minor mods is a dream come true. The perfect street bike does exist the Yamaha MT09.
@HalfdeadRider4 ай бұрын
I still find it odd that this bike weighs about the same as my 24 y/o ZX9r but has less power and torque, comparing gear ratios would be interesting. My bike is brutal but I have done a fair bit of tuning to get more air and fuel in plus a +4 degree ignition advancer to burn the mixture sooner, also getting only clean air in by removing the CCB from the airbox as well as the KLEEN air (pairs) system and blocking the holes and joining the two with a small K&N filter so the engine has options lol I also shimmed the main jet needles and no doubt more I can't think of other than the obvious exhaust and K&N filter.
