I just got one a couple of weeks ago and rode it for the first time last weekend, amazing bike with its power and low-end torque. Not to sound like a snob but I rode a 250F and didn't think they had enough power to keep me entertained, I was riding a 2001 KX-250 two stroke and it felt like it would run circles around that Yamaha 250f that I test rode. Super skinny which was a welcome improvement over my seemingly bloated feeling KX-250, the fat rear tire provides tons of grip even on slick terrain, and even though it is a monster in terms of power its nice smooth and predictable which is also a welcome improvement over my two stroke which has a powerband that comes on like a light switch and is quite violent. Still need to take it back out and mess around with the clickers but so far I am infatuated with this bike.

Does it have an ECM switch for 2 maps ? Traction control ? According to the video, it does have both ! I have a 2016 YZ450FX. Love it.
@SAS_34197 ай бұрын
@@SomeTechGuy666 Yes it does have a map switch. It does have traction control but it is only activated and adjusted through the Yamaha Powertuner app on your phone.

My only question is how it handles the tight stuff, as far as flame outs and stalling. These guys are out west so it's a totally different environment than the northern woods i ride. It's extremely rocky in some of the areas, and my '21 KX450x is awful in that stuff, even with a 52T rear. I have to focus more on keeping the bike running than anything else, living on the clutch, then of course it starts getting hot.

We tested this bike in South Carolina and rode some extremely tight stuff with it. We didn't have an issue with flame out or stalling

I’m with you there, 250f’s just aren’t in the decision for me way under powered for any kind of bottom end needs. It’s between this bike and a Husky 350 FX. I own a 23’ Beta 390 and it is a bit heavy and very unbalanced, and some other quirks. I’m not usually considering a 450 because it’s just more bike than practical, but this 24’ seems to have mitigated more of that that ever before.. Your take?

Here's my big question. I own a 17 YZ450FX that is set up PERFECTLY for my liking. Is the upgrade in platform (like 2 generations newer now) worth doing all the work of dialing in controls, suspension, etc all over again? Since I bought my 17, I haven't ridden another bike that I've felt more at home or comfortable on, and certainly not one that I can ride any harder at my skill level.

Love to see more testing review points focused on ultra low speed tech riding. Does it chug without flame outs? 1st gear sounds extremely low. Can you shuffle it in a 360 on the rear wheel without flameout?

I've seen and ride yz450fxs frome previous years and I even have a 2021 250fx, and they all have 6 speed wide ratio transmission, is the newest bike 5 gears only, or is he wrong? Does anybody know?

Good on Yamaha. In the so ca. dev I’m still giving the nod to the KTM XC 450 or 300 2smoke. 6th gear even spread trans ratios. The Yamaha’s 1st gear is useless. Change the gearing and now 5th is unusable.
