*Love this review Paul!!!* One day in 2025 I can see me getting the Phantom 2.0. Comparing this to my 3 family Apollo Go 2024's here is what I like about the Phantoms which is similar to my Go's. The great dot matrix display I can see in any lighting condition. *The best regen brakes* are made my Apollo, I think you mentioned that before. We put many miles a week on our 3 Go's and *RARELY EVER* use the hand break. Only going down a super steep hill as dont want to overheat the REGEN. I am totally an Apollo person as you can tell. I have replaced several tires easily and fix split wire in the handle bar throttle area using the great tutorials on Apollo's main channel. Again, *OUTSTANDING PROFESSIONAL REVIEWS YOU ALWAYS DO!!!*

The bars are standard, but modified. Unless you have a milling machine you won’t be able to just buy bars and swap these out. This because there are slots cut in them to allow for internal cable routing. You can mount standard accessories on them but they are not easy to replace with different types.
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide2 ай бұрын
Good point. It arrived with the bars already mounted to the stem, so I didn't notice that the wires were internally routed. I think someone with a vice, a drill, and maybe a file could make it happen, but it wouldn't be easy, and probably not a mod worth pursuing. -Paul

@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide3 ай бұрын
You know what, that's a very good point. I just took another look at the 2.0 here because of your question. They are standard size, but would take some work to make any old bars fit because of the internal wiring. The reason I didn't notice that is the bars come pre-installed to the neck and then you slide the neck into place. So, if you're determined, then they could be swapped out, but looking at it now... yeah, no one is really going to do that. Great question. Thanks so much! -Paul

Whats the difference between phantom 2 and punk rider?
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide3 ай бұрын
They're very different. The fastest version of the Punk Rider has a claimed top speed of 32mph and an output power spec. The regular Phantom 2.0 has a battery 50% larger than the punk rider. The more I look at the specs they really don't have anything in common other than it appears that Punk Rider more or less copied the style of the Apollo Pro. -Paul

I use an Apollo Pro and the throttle response is really excellent. Even in Ludo mode it wont try to take your feet out from under you. Still, I can’t wait for the Stellar edition. For me drum brakes just aren’t it, and the regen brakes don’t bite hard if you’re going much faster than 25mph
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide3 ай бұрын
Thanks so much for the feedback. I feel like I haven't heard that many first-hand accounts from other owners. I agree about the brakes. I love the regen for normal riding, but when I really want the absolute maximum stopping power.... I'm not really getting the bite I want from the Pro's drums. I was bummed that I didn't get to sample the hydraulic discs on this prototype, but definitely looking forward to the Stellar. I feel like a lot of folks don't understand Apollo's conservative approach to performance, but if you look at it in the context of the Segway scooters it all makes sense. Apollo is playing the long game by not pushing the absolute limits of top speed and focusing on finesse and rideability. -Paul

I'm seriously considering making the jump to the Apollo Pro from my Mantis V2. Since my wreck happened at night, I've thought of nothing else when I look at it. I want zero excuses when it comes to visibility and the lightbar on the front and the illuminated deck just speak to me, especially on the wilder roads around where I am. Not that I'd go riding around at night anytime soon again, but that peace of mind knowing you're kind hard to miss in low-light conditions does wonders for the nerves. P.S. Also having an IP66 rated scooter here in Florida sounds like an all-around good deal to me. :D Now I just gotta work acquiring the cash... the Mantis V2 was a stretch for me already and that was half the price. does anyone own an Apollo or on the the least popular brands , cos it makes me wonder about it's prices. If you're going to spend around 3500 I personally would go for the Wolf gt pro or Inmotion or one of the more popular makes.. Why would anyone buy one of the less popular brands? Obviously people are buying them but there's little to differentiate between the brands and I would like to know the thinking behind purchase choice.

I wouldn't say Apollo is less popular. I'm pretty sure they sell more electric scooters than Inmotion in North America. -Paul

why apollo make this for 2.5k or 3k while you can get better escooters-specs with that
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide3 ай бұрын
I hear where you're coming from. Apollo have never taken the easy route of maxing out the spec sheet. It would certainly make it easier to sell scooters. A lot of the cost goes into things like a better BMS, which is incredibly un-sexy but helps keep the scooter safe to own for the long term. There are some raw-speed scooters out there that I love for their speed per dollar, and then there are companies like Segway and Apollo that focus on cutting edge tech, longer warranties, safety and longevity. Segway and Apollo are actually taking the tougher road here. -Paul

Steering Damper again, when will the market finally learn? Stability of two wheelers isnt that complicated. You can drive easily 140kmh without one if you design it properly (No speed wobbles)
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide3 ай бұрын
Interesting point. Apollo is pretty good about knowing their rake and trail numbers, so it might not be needed at all, but just there because some people really like dampers (I definitely prefer not having a damper unless I absolutely have to and when I encounter one I keep it turned down as low). -Paul

@@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide i think its the people's mind set that is not up to date. They want to sell the most products and in people's mind its "only with steering damper = stability" which is not true

I would never buy any Apollo scooter after an Apollo city caught fire at my work and now all e-scooters are banned from being onsite 😡
@ESG-ElectricScooterGuide3 ай бұрын
Do you know what lead up to this? Did it get submerged at some point? Had your coworker been inside the deck modding it? Apollo uses really good cells on these and they have a good BMS in there too. Those two things usually make it nearly impossible to have a major problem with a scooter. I've literally never heard of an Apollo scooter catching fire before this comment. (we have literally about 20 Apollo scooters back at ESG headquarters.). -Paul

A 60v scooter at 72v prices.. not much difference in range, only 50mph. Just can’t justify the price per performance compared to its competitors. GT pro, Inmotion RS, Mars xtr, etc, this scooter doesn’t compete quite well with them at this pricing. I’ve owned all the hyper scooters and been on my gtr lately more than anything.

@Bigheadedwon3 ай бұрын
You say only 50mph lol. While there are scooters that are much faster, I got my Wolf King GT Pro to 51.7mph once and felt like I was flirting with death. For the Nitro Circus daredevils who need top speed this won't be the scooter for them. For anyone else they probably never would even hit top speed. as for 60 vs 72v. If it's as quick as they claim I don't see a reason to need 72v. I dunno the exact number but the 0-30 for this seems to be about the same as my 72v wolf king.
@hurdthenerd3 ай бұрын
@@Bigheadedwon that’s barely entering speed at 50. You can see on my KZbin or Tik tok I’ve been 70 on my GTR. I cruise at 45-50, idk how you feel like that’s death lol. But that’s my point.. this Apollo isn’t cruising at those speeds thats its max. So realisticly it’ll cruise around 35-45 mph. Which to pay nearly 4k for that… and only 35 ish miles of range..60v - 72v is a big difference. Leaves room for upgrades, bigger controllers etc. There’s no other 60v scooter in the 4k price for a reason. You can get a new vsett 10+ apex for 1900 and it does 53mph to, and 40+ miles range.

It really depends on how you slice it. There's a bunch of expensive stuff in there, like the BMS that Apollo uses that doesn't show up on spec sheets the way top speed does, but really helps the longevity of the scooters. Segway is similar in this regard. Longer warranties, better frame materials. And then there's all of the R&D like the 8 or 9 versions Eloi made of these throttles to get the feel just right. Apollo scooters really have a nice feel to them, and that just doesn't show up on spec sheets. It's also really hard to describe in reviews without sounding like a fanboy, so we don't dwell on it too much. One day I'll come up with a good way to quantify ride quality. -Paul

Thanks for the feedback. I always think of the hardware stuff Apollo does first (BMS, designing their own control levers, using good cells), and then I think of the aesthetics as #2.
