2025 Chevrolet Trax RS: The BEST Subcompact Crossover?

I just purchased a 2025 Chevy Trax 2RS. I've had it for two weeks. I love it. I did not want a CVT. It rides smoothly, shifts nicely and dirves like a dream. I am so impressed with everything about this SUV. So much room in the back seat too. Can't wait to try out the heated seats and steering wheel this winter. Enjoy the quiet engine. Thank you Chevy!!!

I recently bought a 24 Trax. If you're considering the Trax, I recommend the LT trim. It has all of the same features, the only major difference being the wheels. If you're o.k. with the 17s, save yourself 2K and go with the LT.

Option packages have hefty prices! Cost cutting inside is apparent. Attractive in and out. The 3 cyl. turbo power is more understandable at this price point than with the Bronco or Rogue.Depending on reliability and durabilty, this might be a better value in the 2 lowest priced trim levels. Overall, a pretty nice answer to lower cost transportation. Very good review..as always!

Great review as always!😊 Love the looks and price of this one. The 6 speed automatic transmission makes me really want to buy. Joy to the max of no CVT. The direct injection only and the carbon buildup from same gives me pause. Also, the question of the wet timing belt that is difficult to service. I think it might be beneficial to give it a couple of years and see how this little baby does before buying. Or I might do a lease covered by warranty.

The 1.2 L has been used in the trailblazer since 2021, seems to be quite reliable!

I’ve strongly considered the Trax for the price, non-CVT, and space. However, the longevity of a rubber timing belt in an oil bath (oil degrades rubber) and a very small engine under turbo pressure scares me. This engine (like it’s predecessor and several other GM-DAT products before it) is designed by and built by GM Korea (the former Daewoo) and virtually every small blown engine they have built has had longevity problems. The first Buick Encore (and Trax) is on the bottom of Consumer Reports list because of the turbo engine failures near 50,000 miles. I’m now leaning towards the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport as it has a proven track record and they regularly see 200,000 miles on the original engine (if not more). They are similarly priced and with the exception of the CVT, are far superior vehicles in every way. The mileage is equal and the Mitsu has a larger engine. Even the CVT’s seem to hold up better than most. Yes, it’s old school technology…but it will last and I’m afraid the Trax doesn’t have longevity in its DNA. Which is too bad, as I like it’s style a lot!

These engines have been in production longer than a year! 1.2 L ,1.3 L turbo engine has been in uses since 2020.

​@@bettyboop3035there's a recall on the emissions system! The start /stop can cause the engine to run out of time! If the engine light comes on stop driving immediately, could cause severe engine damage! Not all the 2024 Chevy Trax need this recall done, check with your dealer, or do it on the internet with your VIN number. The recall is for the 2024 only!

Not a bad looking little SUV. For the top trim I feel it's missing a couple things like a premium sound system for starters and the wireless charging should be apart of the Drivers confidence package. I also wish they did away with these tiny displacement engines with a turbo slapped on it.

For the low price you really can't ask for much more. IMO it's a hell of a car for the price. You can't find a better car at the price
