The thing that put me off the 2022 was the exposed wires hanging out the underside of the TFT. Hopefully Honda have redesigned the casing to hide these from exposure and the riders view.

Looks like Honda have really been listening to people's feedback, It looks a good alternative to the BMW RT.
@Jungleland335 күн бұрын
Honda couldn't care less about listening to customers' feedback. If they did, they would have introduced shaft drive. 1000s have been screaming for a 450 Rally now for years......guess what ?...... no 450 Rally. Honda only does what IT wants to do. And this is from a lifelong Honda fan.

@@Jungleland33 I’ve got a BMW RT1250 and I’ve just ordered a 2025 model NT1100. I wish it had been around when I changed from a Yamaha FJR1300 to the RT! Let’s talk shaft drive. RT needs lubing and oil change at 12000 miles. It needs constant checking. It depends on two rubber boots that are susceptible to ingress of dust and water. And it gets replaced at 36000 miles for the life of the bike, regardless of ownership! Not much more than a chain. The RT was £22000 in April 2021 and I’ve recently been offered £9500 trade in. I’m keeping the RT to protect some of my investment but the Honda makes more sense in almost every way as a two up tourer…..it’s now got bigger panniers than the RT, incidentally.

They've certainly improved the looks, I'd always dismissed this bike as it looked so dull. I could see myself on one of these now.

A shaft would add a lot of weight. Nothing wrong with chains... or belts, as long as they aren't Buell belts. I like the new screen. I think it's a good-looking bike, too. Good panniers. I wouldn't want this bike, though. Nick

Never would I of thought I’d read some many moaners about shaft drive or a automatic screen 😂 there’s a reason that pretty much only the tiger 1200 and gs do it because no one wants it 😂 you gain weight lose power all for a slight lube and adjustment every few hundred miles as for the screen I mean adjusting most modern ones is as easy as a button anyway

I have to agree, electric screens are a nice feature, until they go wrong! If Honda put this bike out with shaft drive and electric screen, but for £2k more I guess there would be complaints about the price! 😂

regarding DCT or manual (clutch) , is it making that much of a difference in driving experience? Which one is more recommended?
@dragoclarke949717 сағат бұрын
I've got the previous version with the DCT gearbox, done 10,000 miles in 9 months of riding and wouldn't want to go back to a manual box. I will say that if you just take it for a one hour test ride you'll probably not enjoy the DCT but if you can get a half or full day on it then you will appreciate what an amazing set up it is.

Would be interesting to see to which extent it overlaps with the 2024 Africa Twin Adventure Sports with the 19” front wheel. Same engine, same chassis…
@mancavemoto4 күн бұрын
Indeed, that was one of my thoughts. The IMU and screen are big improvements. IF your realistically no going 'off-road' this will be all you need and will save you a few thousand compared to the ATAS?
@carlosalonso98664 күн бұрын
@@mancavemoto That's true, mind you my interest for the AT doesn't stem from any serious off-road aspirations but from the simple fact that some of the roads where I ride are in an pitiful state. What interests me most is to see how the difference will be handling wise, as the gap between the respective front wheels has diminished from 21-17 to 19-17 inches.

@@mancavemoto Unbelievable... pretty basic things are still missing in such a touring bike.

Has the DCT still been instructed to shift into 6th as fast as it can, so the bike labours like a bugger? Is there some adjustability to that, outside of "Dont use it, use a sports mode instead"? Mine in DRIVE gets to 6th super-quick, and even when passing, if you leave the box alone, it doesnt shift down when you grab a handful, leaving the bike to Jack Hammer its way past the offending bus...
@mancavemoto9 сағат бұрын
DCT in the D mode always shifts to a higher gear as soon as possible. Its said to offer the most economical performance. I use that when using big A-Roads, motorways and through towns etc. I then switch to Sport II for all other riding. It shouls drop a gear if you accelerate hard, or indeed you can just manually flick down one or two gears.

Much improved, but the screen should be electric. They've done that on the Guzzi Stelvio. It's not hard to Honda.

All bikes would be chain drive nowa days as their so efficient. The only bikes that don't is because there other shafts, crank and gear shafts all run in same direction and it's easier to fit shaft drive. So they'll have to put up with the extra weight, more expense, torque reaction, and don't forget it's a serviceable item now with BMW at 60,000 miles "How much!!!"😮. My original oem chain lasted 20,000 got adjusted about 5 times and £150 to replace DID chain and sprokets. Keep up the good work Matey.

Hell of a shame Honda won't put a shaft-drive on it. That's more important than all this electronic baloney. They've had great shaft-driven bikes for decades, and just when they've finally got a competitive bike in the touring market they abandon it. It's as big of an own-goal as the VFR 1200 which turned out to be neither fish nor fowl (neither tourer nor sportster).
@jimbroen4 күн бұрын
Once you've owned a touring bike with a button controlled windscreen, you will not want to go back to a manual adjustment. Car makers put electric window lifts on everything. Why do motorcycle manufacturers struggle with this. I know Honda really wants to sell me a Goldwing but why do they have to be such jerks about this. The same applies to Japanese manufacturers and cruise control. Why is it missing from so many of the good middleweights?
@mancavemoto3 күн бұрын
I guess car makers don't have to worry so much about weight? and they have a lot more 'real estate' to deal with.
@jimbroen3 күн бұрын
@@mancavemoto Perhaps. A motorized windscreen could be an added price option so the purchaser could decide if the extra five pounds is a concern. That argument doesn't explain manufacturers reticence for cruise control on throttle by wire middleweights. BMW and KTM do this so very well. They seem to be willing to add an optional kitchen sink if the customer is willing to open their wallet. BMW's problem is that the model without the optional kitchen sink installed can't be found on any showroom floor.

I bought a new 2023 model. The tank started to rust within 6 weeks of summer ownership and Honda UK say its " normal" and if they swapped for another the same would happen. Having raised the issue on the NT forum others have experienced the same. Honda quality has gone, I'm afraid its time to consider cheaper Chines brands.
