for me hyundai inster is just perfect in may ways, perfect interior and exterior size, perfect comfort for a daily driver, perfect range , perfect power, not that much, but not anemic like the Dacia Spring, perfect climate control with heat pump as standard, nice camera coverage for 360 degrees view, my wishes are to have tesla sentry like 360 recording of each camera compiled in one file, with events being highlighted and long term storage saved, and a bit of and Off-road model, with higher ground clearance, and slightly bigger wheels with a dual focus tire, that engages a smoother tire patch in the middle for efficient road driving, but have high traction tire tread on the size that engage in mud, but also if you deflate the tires a bit for off-road slip conditions, that for the drive tires at least... but that is for my near mountain + river + dirt road case , i also have an apartment, but with solar, i will mostly use a small electric car at the country home.

Kasper means in germany Kasper (also Kasperl or Kasperle, Bavarian Káschberl, Swabian Kaschberle, Alemannic Chaschperli) is the funny hero of the Kaspertheater, a puppet theater usually played with hand puppets.
@_-Lea_-2 ай бұрын
Also from Germany I can confirm this. So maybe somebody was worried some people would make "fun" of the car because of this name / associated with hand puppets / entertainment for little children. But I don't care, I still prefere the naming "Casper" over Inster. I don't get the explanation why "Inster" was chosen, it makes no sense to me and in addition I don't like Instagram (which I think of hearing "Inster") ;)

@@calvinang1 I am German and like to support local manufacturers. Decades ago their cars used to have good quality, but since they tried to be criminal and screw people and the environment over by their Diesel software fraud they try to compensate their losses by using cheaper steel and other materials. My last brand new VW was from December 2019 and I had to pay thousands of € in order to continue driving it past the first 3 year technical inspection, because the brake system was so rusty, it had to be replaced. Many others from that generation had the same problems and also many new cars collect water on the inside and lights. Then I read in an article that the board of directors decided to save money on planned obsolescence, since have only the minimum two years of warranty by German law and then your money flows towards their repair network. I am not supporting being screwed over by a ruthless company with degraded quality standards, so I bought an EV by Kia with 7 years warranty that is by far the best and most relaxing car I have ever driven. I have also been driving my girlfriends 5 series combustion BMW, which was only way more expensive and acoustically better attenuated but with all the pseudo autonomous features the Kia takes most of the highway stress off of you and with its true single pedal driving and automatic speed limit adjustments it fun to watch the car taking care of most of the driving. It's also a very efficient EV despite way bigger and comfortable than the ID 3 while having a software that actually works. Anyway I am done with VW and Audi. The best VW used to be Skoda and Seat, using formerly great VW technology while being more practically designed and looking way better and all that for a better price. But since the technical quality is down the hill now, I would also not recommend buying these versions of VW technology anymore.

@@calvinang1 Why help out VW? They've been one of the biggest environmental disasters in history and their financial troubles are of their own making. Also worth pointing out that the VW group EVs may be quite good, but they are significantly more expensive and simply not as good as the competiition from, especially, the Hyundai Group. FFS, even MG is giving VW iD cars a run for the money, though their interiors really aren't very good. However, MG has a new set of interiors for the 4 and new 5 that, knowing how quickly Chinese companies innovate, will be much superior to their current line up. I have very little doubt that the facelifted 4 will be as good as the current iD3, and will undercut it by about 30%! But getting back to the Inster/EV3/iD3 debate; the iD3 is really rubbish in comparison with the EV3. It's got virtually none of the tech of its Korean counterpart, and can't even match the Inster on that front. The Inster is likely to sell from about €19K-€22K, with the EV3 selling from €37K, while the iD3 STARTS at €40K. And considering all the teething troubles the iD3 has had, wtf would I want one?

Thank you for showing this to us. I can't wait to do a test drive with what might become my first EV. My only worry is the lithium battery. I would prefer a LFP battery as the Geely Galaxy E5 and the Citroen E3 use it, because LFP burns less than lithium. If the Galaxy E5 is the same price, I think I will prefer the Galaxy because of the battery. Casper or Kasper in german is the literal translation of "Joker". Oddly enough, germans often refer to an irregular heartbeat as "Herzkasper" ("joking heart"). And a person that dislikes soup is called "Suppenkasper" ("jokes with soup").

If Hyundai would replace the high glossy ("piano lacquer") plastic surfaces around the buttons in the middle and on the steering wheel buttons with matt plastics (like it's used in other Hyundai and Kia models), it would make the interior much more pleasant. The glossy plastics can reflect the sun and you'll get fingerprints and fine scratches on it very soon. We know that it is not completely fair to compare these two but if both hit a road bump is there a huge difference in comfort between these two?
@CarSceneKoreaАй бұрын
The answer to that is very subjective. At least the driver seat and the passenger seat i.e. the front row seats would not be all that different, however due to the wheelbase and the size of the car, including the wheelbase and the weight, the experience you get from the second real seat will vary quite a lot. Not to mention the trunk size too. Considering the price tag on two cars that ought to make sense if you do truly understand the characteristics and the traits of two cars. You will be satisfied with the Inster.

Thx for your precise and good test you provide here. Am I right that the INSTER EV has a longer Wheelbase as the CASPER ICE?
@CarSceneKorea2 ай бұрын
Yes, 180mm longer to be precise hence much roomier interior especially for the second row seat. Inster is all EV, so no need of that EV at the end ;)

Thank you for the great video. I find the Inster very, very interesting and it seems, the Inster is the much better Honda e. We currently still use an eSoul and a Smart ForTwo Cabrio, but the Inster could fulfill the purposes of both cars. I was also surprised by the sunroof. It's rare in this segment and for me it's a desirable feature. OK, rear-wheel drive and 50 hp more would be my dream ;-). Now I hope that the Inster will make it to Germany soon.

Hi there, end of the year the Hyundai Inster will be available in Germany for pre-order. I’m still not sure if I should buy this car or the Kia EV3. You mentioned that several other people face the same issue. So I thought, maybe it would be possible for you to show us the difference in a site-to-site comparison with both cars. I lack imagination, so the raw numbers do not help me, unfortunately 😅. Thanks for consideration and thanks for your great work so far, keep going 👍🏾

EV3 is better and Inster is cheaper
@CarSceneKoreaАй бұрын
I would go with EV3 unless you find something that is a must for you out of Inster’s traits, i.e., size, design, price, brand, etc.

I've been waiting for this for a long time: I'd take it as a car subscription :-) :) 🥰🥰🥰😍😍👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 really cool car, ideal for parking in the city, where otherwise fat / big SUVs stand over 1.5 parking spaces and cause big+many annoyances... the insta would be perfect for city traffic :) Please as a car subscription in germany 🥰😍🤩🙏

We desperately need affordable EVs in Canada, would love to see Inster here. Kona electric was too expensive for us, but this one looks quite competitive and really close to Venue when all rebates taken into account

Could you give us an idea of the suspension system? Is it good with small cracks and bumps on the road?

Good enough given the car being. Not the best one from Hyundai, but much better than the ICE model, Casper.

@@CarSceneKorea I wonder how it would compare to the Citroen eC3 here in Europe but I guess we have to wait and see! Thank you and I’m hopeful that you will do a test drive on bumpy roads and/or sandy terrain!
@mmuller24022 ай бұрын
The c3 just has self adjust endstop so rebound and high impact on potholes is better, but would you sacrifice this interior for the plastic trash stellantis puts on the ec3? you should ask if the iron lithium cell on the ec3 is enough to justify the bad quality😢😮@@konsevdi
@konsevdi2 ай бұрын
@@mmuller2402 I definitely appreciate what the Inster has to offer. It’s just that the roads where I live are pretty bad and I wouldn’t want to get the Inster and get disappointed with its behaviour on the road. Other than that I have already asked for a preorder here in Greece!

I'm so happy Korea has kept Casper as the name. I test drove the turbo Casper, and sadly, the power was the one thing that really let it down. Going up a hill, it just died, dropping down to the first gear, roaring it's little head off and going nowhere! I think this electric version will fix it's one (fairly major) problem. One question though, how is the suspension compared to the ICE cars? With such small wheels and light vehicle, the ice seemed to really HIT bumps in the road. I would guess with the extra weight, they electric would have upgraded suspension?
@CarSceneKoreaАй бұрын
All valid points. Good that you did not drive naturally aspirated model😂 the ride is fairly different from the extended wheelbase to the weight of the vehicle, which also has to do with different suspension indeed. Better ride and upgraded ride overall.

I have a soft spot for smaller practical cars. Got my drivers license late in life so my first car was a new 2019 Citroen C3 diesel and I loved that car. It only had a 100 horsepower but it was enough due to the torque. Getting somewhere from 0 would be faster than most expected and it being a manuel meant that it always did what I wanted when I wanted. Now I drive a Seat Leon plug in hybrid. Much faster car, much nicer inside and out. But the automatic gearbox annoys me to no end, it is always confused because sometimes my driving style will change due to road conditions and the car itself feels soulless. So I've come to the conclusion that it has to go and I'm going back to what I enjoy the most, small practical cars that are cheap to maintain and since small diesel cars is not sold new anymore in my country(and I absolutely hate 3 cylinder petrol engines), this INSTER really has my attention and interest. My main complaint with EVs on the market has been that they were just wasting space and are to expensive. I think Hyundai will have a big hit with this car. I don't like the looks that much but the car does have character which is more important and the interior wizardry Hyundai has managed to pull off is amazing.

First time I have watched one of your videos, very good! I am old enough to remember wind-up windows, no power steering & a radio (a cassette player if you are lucky)! The spec of this car is very impressive! If you were to sit in the back seats behind your driving position is there any leg room? Also your height would be good for context. What sort of power are the ICE versions making? Thanks from London.

Welcome to the channel! I might not be that "old," but I remember and had the privilege of using all the features you've listed myself :) I literally drove cars that were manufactured during the WWI era, doing the military service as a Korean. I am 175cm tall and the second row fights an adult of 188cm no problem with some tilts. 76hp & 9.7kg.m for NA, 100hp & 17.5kg.m for Turbo. Both engine sizes are 998cc to meet the government regulation to be categorized and benefited as a "Gyeongcha."

Casper the ghost. They will have run the gauntlet of the movie studios in the use of that name. "The Casper the Friendly Ghost trademark is owned by Comcast, through its ownership of NBCUniversal, through its ownership of DreamWorks Media, through its ownership of DreamWorks Classics, though its ownership of Harvey Films, which purchased the trademark from Famous Studios in 1959."

Your wife loved this car, wonder has she asked to change her car out for this yet with you? ;) I wonder if after it launches and is for sale whether someone will sell a Casper badge to change out your Inster name badge as I agree the Casper name is better not like it is anything like the trademarked name which is from Casper the friendly ghost I am guessing a car vs a animated character, hmmm. Great car and could even be used for some road trips depending on charging infrastructure and how far driving. Can see things like the shelf which the new Kona EV has, the gear knob that the Ioniq 5 has plus many other things from their other cars gotta keep it affordable but they did a great job with this.

We are not getting an EV any time soon due to the charging infrastructure we have around our dwelling😭 I'd be already driving either IONIQ 5 or EV6 had it not been that. There sure will be people swapping their emblems, it's always been the case. People want what they don't get🤣Elantra N owners rebadged theirs to Avante N and the other way around for Koreans.
