@@user-si8hu6pz3t this scout in sport mode is unhinged. I don’t know what the top speed is because I obviously can’t go faster than reasonable highway speeds on a test ride, and I know they also have limiters installed on the demo bikes for safety reasons. Acceleration is amazing, and with a top end 111hp with a light bike, it should scream at the track.

Great review... thanks so much!! . You have a new subscriber. I turn 62 next month and have not ridden a bike since I sold my Harley Street Glide 17 years ago. I am buying a new bike for my Bday. I know they suggest lighter bikes as you age so would not buy a Harley Bagger but fell in love with the new Low Rider ST which weighs 100 lbs less then the Street Glide. I live in Austin TX and want a bike to cruise around the city but also take 4 hour cruises in the Texas Hill Country. I have to be honest and this new Scout 101 appeals to me just as much as the Low Rider ST even though the ST has that sweet 117 engine which is a torque monster plus has the fairing and saddlebags. . I do NOT like riding 100 MPH but love going from 0 - 60 as quickly as possible. I watched other reviews of the new Scout so I know it rips when you get on the throttle plus I believe it weighs 527 lbs which is a low compared to the Low Rider ST which weighs 727 lbs. That 200lb difference is huge. I would add leather saddlebags to the Scout which will slightly increase weight and also change pipes and do a stage 1 upgrade. I know you mentioned you also own Harleys so would greatly appreciate your thoughts as to which bike you would recommend. For a brief moment I considered a trike but feel like I can wait until I am 70 to get on 3 wheels. Thanks again for the review and look forward to hearing your recommendation. Safe travels my friend🙏

I’m glad you enjoyed the review! I rode the low rider st the day after this. Heavier, still fun. And the 117 is great, but this scout with a set of bags on it would be superb. Wouldn’t miss the low rider at all. If you have the chance to test ride both before you buy, that’s always the best option! But Indians quality is second to none. Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! I greatly appreciate it 😀 Ride safe and have fun ✌🏻
@director2bob5 ай бұрын
@@MOTOBLADE Thanks so much for the quick reply. The fact that you rode both bikes and say you would not miss the LowRider speaks volumes about the Indian. Let me ask you this. Because the Indian is almost two hundred lbs lighter, did you find that the toque was comparable to the LowRider? I love to get up and go. . Its possible it may actually pull harder due it's lighter weight. And do you feel it would be a good bike for the longer cruises through the Texas Hill Country. For some reason I thought heavier bikes were better for cruising but I am not looking to go cross country and just spend a few hours riding those Texas backroads. As I mentioned my last bike 17 years ago was a heavy StreetGlide which is why I have that thought stuck in my mind. Thanks again for the advice and great channel!!
@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
@director2bob the acceleration just based on feel with good ole “butt dyno” test felt very quick. Obviously it’s not as much torque on paper as the low rider st, because it’s a smaller engine, but it is liquid cool and it’s much lighter. As far as an afternoon of cruising, I stand by what I said in the video about taller bars and maybe a better seat for “touring” but that will depend on how long you intend to be on there.
@Sr.D5 ай бұрын
I tried the 975 and the old Scout. I found the Nightster superior in every aspect except for the aesthetics of the left side of its engine. I definitely need to try the new Scout 1250 and also the Triumph Speedmaster 1200 before deciding which will replace my veteran and beloved Sportster 883.
@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
The new scout with the 1250 definitely beats the nightster. Its more direct competitor would be the Harley sportster s. Another option to possibly consider is the Hammer performance 1275 kit for your 883. I have that in my 883 and love it. With a good air intake and tune I nearly doubled the torque from factory stock when we ran it on the dyno.

@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
A matte black design would be cool - and you make an interesting point with the tank. I could not find a MPG claim on Indians website for the bike. 101 or sport chief or low rider s? What would you take and how much smaller is the 101 out them?
@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
For various reasons, the short answer is I would take the sport chief out of those 3. Long answer is I have videos on the other 2 bikes coming over the next month or so. Filmed. Just waiting in the queue. I don’t need the sporty smaller style bike. I like the sport chief because it’s the 116 engine, more torque (again much larger engine) and it can be made into more of a comfy cruiser/bagger which is more my style. Still being able to rock that awesome sport mode when I want to. Just my opinion but there’s more options and things you can on the sport chief platform. Best suggestion I can make, as always, is to test ride them for yourself. You will usually know right away which one you like best. Hope that helps ✌🏻

Will be going to test drive them soon, but any suggestions, tips, or thoughts as im looking for my first "bigger" bike?
@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
Remember that sitting upright and getting bars higher will straighten your back and make you feel way better. If a bike is good, seat, peg, and bar position are an easy cheap fix to fit it to yourself. So focus on the bike features - what you like and what you don’t, and remember you can change the “rider triangle” if necessary. One other thing - I love the look of the 101, but the sport has a more upright position if that helps. Other thing to not with a bigger bike - use caution if you put it in sport mode. It hauls butt 😎 have fun and ride safe brother ✌🏻

I am 6'2" would i fit okay? comfort- i would primarily ride to and from work, city area to the Island AVG 1 hour commute.(NYC - Long Island). Does it handle bumps okay? Stop and go, quick to accelerate when needed? I have a long arm reach and long legs, so the forward controls should work for me, your thoughts? Is it worth the price tag? I see the Sport Scout limited w/ tech package as well. Same engine but I don't see the same power outage. Any advice is appreciated, a great information video for sure, I learned even more with your review. Thank you
@MOTOBLADE3 ай бұрын
I will do my best to help you here but the BEST info I can give: go take a test ride on both from an Indian dealer. Lot of cash to drop, if a dealer won't let you test ride them both, take your business elsewhere and find one that will. That said… I'm 5'8", bit shorter than you. I didn't like being leaned forward as I'm more into cruisers, you will benefit from having longer limbs and the pressure will be better for you most likely. The suspension is fully adjustable and (at least for the road I was riding) soaked up a lot of the bumps and lumps in the road. Power and acceleration are SUPERB. Based on the information you stated above, I would advise you look at the sport scout limited with tech package. Why? More upright riding position with the bars and it has forward controls. Base model +tech package is $2500 less than the 101. Throw some bags on it and you've got a commuter. You noticed it's the same engine right? The 101 is unlocked with a performance calibration from your dealer (Indian lists this as currently $219 on their website for the calibration, most likely just a fast ecu unlock). Still come out ahead, already setup to be more comfortable. It's what I would recommend. Go back and read the first thing again though- try them both and see what you like, that's really all that matters. Hope that information all helps, thanks for watching!
@MOTOBLADE3 ай бұрын
and in case it wasn't entirely clear in my comment above - you can buy that calibration for $219 and unlock the full potential of any of the new speed plus scout engines - it just comes "standard" on the 101 scout from factory, hence why all the test rides on the 101 are cooler :)

The ride modes make it very approachable for a new rider. Handling is wonderful and it’s a very good reliable bike that you won’t get bored with and have to “upgrade” to something bigger and faster later. If you are a newer rider, don’t use sport mode (yet). Heck, even keep it in rain mode if you want for a bit, but standard is absolutely fine for everyone to ride comfortably with. Once you’ve built your skills with time and experience, open up sport mode! I’ve seen beginners take on huge touring bikes. Also, just a seat of my pants test, but it feels like the acceleration on the 101 is better, for top end speed you’re never going to reach it unless you’re at the track or doing something you shouldn’t be anyway 🤷🏼♂️ that being said I have a video on the sportster s 2024 model coming in a couple weeks for a comparison, because a lot of you guys having been asking about it 😀

Sure the harley has better specs but it's not really a competitor to this scout. It's a weird hybrid bike closer to the FTR which is much better than the sportster S. This scout 101 is a proper sport cruiser in look and feel.

Can mid pegs be fitted?
@MOTOBLADE4 ай бұрын
Yes! I double-checked Indian Motorcycles website and they have a mid control setup as an option. Could have dealer do it, or install it yourself. Hope that helps!

Little presumptuous to self proclaim “Ultimate Test Ride Reciew” Don’t you think!? 😂
@MOTOBLADE2 ай бұрын
😂😂 good point. Little KZbinr secret: it’s all about the algorithm. I run A/B split tests for thumbnails and video titles live from the moment a video goes up. I have software with KZbin that actually tweaks the titles to find the best one during testing to get the most amount of views, watch time, viewer retention, etc. It’s pretty cool stuff, but my software might believe in me more than I do😂

How is the acceleration compare to the older harley night rod?
@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
I’ve ridden the night rod. Doesn’t hold a candle to the Indian 101 Scout. This is one of the fastest little bikes I’ve ever ridden for speed and acceleration (excluding actual liter sport bikes of course).

@@MOTOBLADESportster S, even with its horrible design?
@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
@@freebehindbars8654 just rode a sportster s at the same demo event. My choice would still be the 101 scout. The sportster s is no slouch, but just by the feel and acceleration, the 101 felt like it packed more punch. That’s just acceleration. You add in the looks, and the ride command tech, suspension, and design - Indian 101 Scout wins easily and it’s not even close (just my humble opinion :)
@freebehindbars86545 ай бұрын
@@MOTOBLADE I’d go with that Indian out of those two, but I was referring to the” fastest little bikes you’ve ridden”. I wouldn’t own a Sportster S, but it’s quick in a straight.

@@MOTOBLADE Power To weight is a thing, but that seat dyno is subjective. Sportster has significantly more hp, torque and lighter than this 101. I’m glad Indian is pushing this direction. Hopefully HD will put that RevMax from the Pan Am in a sub 500lb bike.

The engine looks way different, and in my opinion way better
@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
Still has some styling similarities with the blacked-out look and the 'I' Indian script logo. But overall it was a styling redesign. I agree, it looks great! Indian did a great job on the 101 Scout.

What's going to happen when the SUPER CRUISER comes out on the market?

What's going to happen is you'll need a bigger garage to house all these bikes 😀

Heritage so rich that it’s built in Mexico

Harley has parts made in India. Indian has parts made in one of Polaris' plants in Mexico. Indians come off the assembly line in Spirit Lake, Iowa. You should take a tour of the manufacturing facility sometime :)

I like the 101 but don't like the price for Indian , a little high 😢 , I'm surprised 🤔
@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
It is a high price but also an amazing bike. They have other versions of the scout with the same engine for less than the 101 trim package.

Comparing it to a 975 Nightster isn't right. Compare it to the 1250cc Sportster

Rode the Sportster S after this. Both fun, but the Indian is far more comfortable, better looking, better tech, and sounds better (just my opinion). Sportster S is no slouch but felt like I was riding on a hard brick compared to the 101 Scout.

That exhaust looks incredibly ugly. I'll even go with comically hideous with a dash of disgusting.
@MOTOBLADE2 ай бұрын
I don’t dislike it that much, but I admit it’s not my favorite exhaust they’ve ever designed. Now that it’s been out a couple months there are some aftermarket pipes starting to come on the scene.

Scout Classic is still the best looking version. I cant stand the blackout engine on this. It needs to be chrome. The Classic is way better looking
@MOTOBLADE5 ай бұрын
That’s the nice thing about Indian having so many options in the scout lineup between classic, bobber, 101, rogue and super scouts. Lots of options for everyone. I personally can’t stand chrome. I have a little on my bike and it’s okay but I much prefer the blacked out look. They’ve got us both covered ✌🏻

@@MOTOBLADE Im ok with blackout on sport bikes like my MV Agusta F4 and my Ducati Panigale. Just not on a cruiser. I will say that the the Scout overall is just about the best looking of any bike on the market. Such a perfect looking bike

@@stanleymasterson1135 I’ve seen some of the behind the scenes shots from Indian where they were working on the design of this bike. They put in a lot of effort, and it shows. You’re absolutely right, one of the best looking bikes out there!

To each their own. The classic is my least favorite. Goes to show they did a good job attracting all types!
