Both very nice, QX80 seems like its setup to be a big luxury car, and the GMC is a utilitarian vehicle that's turned into a luxury vehicle which is a good thing. They live in the same segment, but I think will attract very different buyers with the Yukon appealing to a wider audience and thus larger market. While driving around in most scenarios, the instant torque on tap from a NA V8 I'd expect makes the truck feel like it can move around more effortlessly than a smaller turbo gas engine. Turbocharged engines often appear to have better epa ratings but often fail translate into the real-world. Which is where OEMs selling lower volume in this segment are going to be most concerned with and GM not as much. Afterall they are the benchmark and now the only company to offer a V8 in this segment. Like Roman has said many times with the Ford Eco-boost, you can have eco or boost not both and for a big vehicle to move around with a smaller engine, you're going be using the boost more often than not.
@jghall003 ай бұрын
Not true. It's out of boost whenever coasting. But most people can't keep their foot out of the throttle, so they never see the mpg benefits. I can get over 20 mpg in my Ecoboost easily, but the quick spool is too much fun. TFL raced all the engines. The GM 5.3 is underpowered and the 6.2 is gimped at high altitude, plus it's still behind the 3.5 turbo Ecoboost in acceleration.
@jamessachs2243 ай бұрын
@@jghall00 What exactly isn't true? You even made my point about boosted engines when you said "most people can't keep their foot out of the throttle, so they never see the mpg benefits" I would call that real-world use wouldn't you? The average consumer drives with 1 foot on either pedal at all times, so coasting is not in their vocabulary. They throttle up only because they feel they need to and a small displacement engine can't make the power to meet the acceleration demands that "normal" people expect without using thirsty turbos.

One of the best reviews bar none....however - GUYS......why in world are you comparing last years GMC against the new guy?? Nissan has never been know for quality - time will tell? The new 2025 trounces the Nissan - if you are towing, no brake controller? No low gear?? Let alone the price for this new ride. Can't deny from the outside its a great looking vehicle but certainly distance between the two will be even more apparent when you compare 25's. Keep up the great reviews.

Bigger is heavier which is more fuel thirsty. Even the size and weight of the motor itself is a factor when it comes to fuel consumption.

Remember everyone the infinity is a brand new vehicle going against a previous model vehicle. Let's what happens when the new Yukon Denali comes out.

ASK THE QUESTION: GMC/Chevy - why do you skimp out on the second row? No ventilated seats, no center console. This is why I am looking at the competition.

The infiniti is just gorgeous! The gmc looks like the cheaper Chevy cousin

Twin turbo v6 aren’t more efficient than n/a v8 because once u feel the boost you’re gonna want to be on it almost all the time, car manufacturers should give a v8 choice, heck make a 4L v8 with optional turbo.

According to various sources, common reliability issues with the GMC Yukon include: transmission problems like hard shifting, delayed shifting, and slipping, potential issues with the infotainment system, electrical glitches, concerns about interior trim quality, and occasional reports of paint defects, along with potential problems with power door lock actuators and concerns regarding the upper dashboard cracking in some models. So, I will gladly take the Infinity. TFL is a joke!

GMC Yukon all day long! I wouldn't even consider the Infiniti if I was in the market.

If Infiniti had an extended wheel base, that would be my choice.
